23.01.2022 Thank you to our wonderful Lighthouse Volunteers Amanda Yea, Zeinab Khalil, Walid Kurdi, Saree Boutros and others, who spent yesterday and today providing food hampers. Also a massive Thank you to The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs for providing the kids with their Lunchboxes, their smiles said it all. 23.01.2022 Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for preparing another forty food hampers to go out soon, this wouldn’t be possible without the support of Chullora Public School, Bankstown Girls High School and Punchbowl Public School. Thank you Walid Kurdi, Taha Marabani and other volunteers. Over 20 items in each hamper, will go to where it needs to go.

14.01.2022 When the youngest in our community are asked to donate food for those in need and they deliver with a BANG ! This was the case from The students at Al Hikma College, led by Mr Omar Merheb and the wonderful teachers. Also a big thank you to all the families who supported this initiative, that will support is in delivering to families far and wide. Well done and thank you to Bilal El-Hayek and our volunteers Taha Marabani, who presented to the students, Amer Yassine and others.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Walid Kurdi for being nominated as a finalist in the NSW Volunteer, Youth Of The Year Award through Mid Western Sydney. The nomination was put through the office of our wonderful local member Mr Jihad Dib MP. For a young man, who is only 19 years of age, he has been volunteering since the age of 14 and is instrumental to the success of Lighthouse. Thank you to all our volunteers for giving your time and more importantly, the humbleness in which you are empowering others.
13.01.2022 Today Lighthouse in partnership with The GWS Giants attended Moorebank High School for session 5 of The EMPOWER program. This program challenges the students to reflect on positive strategies as well as on themselves as individuals to understand how to navigate around and implement conflict resolution, no matter how difficult. We thank the students for their honesty and their commitment to this program. Well done to Taha Marabani and Co for their time and efforts in empowering the students. Looking forward to continuing the partnership in term 4.

08.01.2022 | MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH | October is Mental Health Awareness month and the Lighthouse team has pledged to walk 60km this month to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Black Dog Institute. Funds will be used for research, and to inform those who may be struggling with their own mental health that they are not alone!... 07.01.2022 Lighthouse’s Taha Marabani along with Ali Faraj from The GWS Giants presented to a small group of youth during The EMPOWER program, a program designed to get young people to build the courage to lead by example and to be a positive role models.
05.01.2022 Day 2 of The Lighthouse REVIVE program supported by Multicultural NSW saw the youth complete a bush walk through Kelly’s Falls, followed by The Giant Swing. Then the REVIVE crew were fortunate to have Manu attend and do a workshop about his journey through the system and the positive impact in his life that made him a Role Model. 02.01.2022 The Lighthouse Team with the support of Bilal El-Hayek and Ali Faraj, organising our new storage, that holds community cargo, every donated item goes to where it’s needed. Thank you to our awesome volunteers Walid Kurdi and Taha Marabani, who gave up their time to make this possible. A massive thank you to Bashar Krayem for his in kind support over the last two years of providing us the space, which has allowed us the opportunity to provide a countless number of hampers and other much needed supplies, truly grateful.

We are truly grateful for donating a mountain of food that will be delivered to those in need with the support of the school, who will personally deliver the items themselves.
