07.01.2022 On the topic of pain during yoga. Listen to your body, respect it's mechanisms and avoid pain. Each time you push too far beyond courting injury, your nervous system stores those memories and then you'll have to do extra work in undoing the damage done. Warning signs of being at your limits include: trembling, weakness and pain. There are techniques to stabilise joints, and ways to move that reduce risk which are mentioned in class to avoid injury. As individuals we can practice in a self respecting way; keeping a differential awareness on our bodies and cultivate inner knowledge. Doing Yoga is about the inner connections we are making.

07.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnpQrMqDoqE this short video encapsulates the stress response rather well. Though I will add that diaphragmatic breathing does not raise your eyebrows as you inhale as in the video! Come to class and learn how to do it properly;)

06.01.2022 3 tips for looking after your knees in yoga poses: - factor in whole leg alignment and what stresses the knee may be under because higher (hips) or lower (ankle and foot) are not moving or moving too much - check for inward of outward rotation of the knee in poses ... where its meant to be facing forwards (I'll remind you of this in class) - check that the inner and outer thigh muscles are same length i.e. are tending to you cross-knee or bow-legged See more

02.01.2022 LHY classes finished for the year. What a wonderful year it was: poses progressed; friendships enhanced; laughter and the humming bee breathing (Bramari Pranayama) filled the studio with positive energy. Thank you to all who supported LHY this year. Wishing you and family a fabulous festive season.See you from 8th January 2018

02.01.2022 Corona Virus prevention actions in place at the studio, as per WHO recommendations, and instruction from friends working in infectious disease control. Thank you! Please bring your own mat, if you have one. Please bring a towel and your own water bottle. Cleaning and disinfecting will start at the studio door before you come in - be prepared, this is being taken seriously as a duty of care for ourselves and those who are vulnerable in our community and lives. in house practices are also in place - so the studio smells a bit more clinical at the moment!
