13.01.2022 We would like to give a big shout out and thank all of our generous donors. With the help of your donations, 100% hOPE was able to provide emergency food relief for 18,783 people, which is approximately 1/3 of Mityana Municipality's population. This was an incredible opportunity for the hOPE team to serve the community, strengthen relationships with government, police and local leaders and bring hope to many more people. And YOU have been part of that. (See chat with George h...ttps://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=219326645724313) THANK YOU. Some of the raised funds also went towards finishing the 2nd Primary School block, which will contain more classrooms, a music room, a science laboratory and a dining area (as all children eat breakfast and lunch at school). You may have seen on our FB page earlier that our Kilimanjaro Odyssey for 100% hOPE 2020 has had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic making this possibly one of the longest routes up to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The team is excited, training hard and looking forward to this incredible adventure. There is now more time if you’re still considering joining us as we raise money, visit and serve at hOPE village and conquer the roof of Africa! Stay tuned to see these funds in action, bringing a future and a hope to children in Mityana, Uganda!

03.01.2022 [...] we need to cultivate the courage to be uncomfortable and to teach the people around us how to accept discomfort as a part of growth. Bangladesh has taught me a lot about cultivating the courage and accepting discomfort. It was one of those trips when I prayed each time before getting into the car and several times more during the drive. With an amazing range of vehicles Bangladeshi highways are full of buses, cars, rickshaws, CNGs, tempos (shared auto-ricksh...aws), tractors with trays laden with people, motorbikes, scooters, bicycles carrying four people or more, bullock and water-buffalo carts, and bizarre home-made vehicles all competing for space. What freaks out new arrivals the most is the total chaos that seems to pervade the streets, with drivers doing anything they please and pedestrians being the least of anybody’s worries. Bangladeshi roads, although uncomfortable and scary, took me to places where I've been challenged to the core of my being. Took me to places where I've experienced a sense of community that goes beyond our Western perspective. It was a journey filled with humility, gratitude, incredible generosity and profound respect. There will always be challenges along the way. Don't let them stop you. Instead, learn how to overcome, accept and celebrate discomfort as a part of your growth. - Agnes, memories from capturing stories of community development in Bangladesh @shanearden #lightodyssey #adventureonpurpose #dogood #bethelight #challenge #gearforgood #celebratediscomfort #growth #bangladesh #photography #sonyalpha

02.01.2022 Hi, this is Shane and Agnes (swipe left) These two, our fearless founders, turn almost anything into an adventure of some sort. They love people, chasing crazy ideas and sharing the light of God with those around them. ... Their hope with Light Odyssey is to take others on that journey, because it's during the journey where growth happens. To break out of the everyday normal (whatever that may be), step in faith, trust and position yourself in a place where "anything" could happen (and most likely will). If adventure... Let it be God's adventure... Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homelesscheerfully. Be generous with the different things God gave you, passing them around so all get in on it: if words, let it be God’s words; if help, let it be God’s hearty help. That way, God’s bright presence will be evident in everything through Jesus, and he’ll get all the credit as the One mighty in everythingencores to the end of time. Oh, yes! 1 Peter 4:7-11 MSG #bethelight #lightodyssey See more
