24.01.2022 Ra (day) #3 Kia ora whnau! Ko Kpuka-taumhaka te maunga (Cargill is the mountain) Ko Owheo te awa (Leith is the river)... N tepoti ahau (I am from Dunedin) Ko Raubenheimer-Free tku whnau (Raubenheimer-Free is my family) Ko Jess tku ingoa (My name is Jess) At Timely, our values are important to us. Values are also very important to Mori culture. Hauora is the Mori philosophy of health and wellbeing. A great way to think about this is the whare tapawha model (2nd picture). There are four dimensions of hauora, all of which rely on each other for strength and stability: Taha tinana (Physical wellbeing): This encompasses the physical body. Taha hinengaro (Mental and emotional wellbeing): Acknowledging and expressing thoughts and feelings, and responding constructively to those. Taha whanau (Social wellbeing): Our family relationships, friendships and other interpersonal relationships. This also refers to our feelings of belonging. Taha wairua (Spiritual wellbeing): Values and beliefs that determine the way people live, the search for meaning and purpose in life, as well as personal identity and self-awareness. For some, this is linked to a particular religion. Hauora at Timely: One of our core values is that work and life are complementary rather than competing priorities. Technology has erased the hard lines between work and life, and we embrace that. This means that work hours are flexible. We believe this way of working helps to provide the space for a balanced life; this might mean more day time with your kids or exercising in between meetings. One way we nurture the emotional/mental dimension is by offering free EAP sessions to our employees, mental health first aid training and our wellness leave. We nurture both the emotional/mental & social dimensions by valuing diversity and helping to build self-esteem and self-confidence in our employees, encouraging them to bring their whole self to work. We also provide a wellness allowance to our employees each year, this can be used to nurture any of the four dimensions. He oranga ngkau, he pikinga waiora. Positive feelings in your heart will raise your sense of self-worth. #reomaori

10.01.2022 This #timelyproud story from McInnes and Co Hair is exactly what this campaign is about!! Amazing work Abbey "It seems like just the other day I signed a lease for a boutique salon in Mt Eden but in fact, its been a great 6.5 years. Not knowing anything about running a business, I was a one-man band with no vision in mind except to create beautiful blonde hair, never did I think I would relocate & open another salon. This morning I handed back the keys for our city salon... as we relocate to the suburbs in the heart of Howick to start a new adventure with an amazing team of stylists & an exciting new chapter ahead. Im super excited to see what the future holds in Howick and I cant wait to work alongside some amazingly talented stylists & meet more of the lovely locals who have been extremely supportive in welcoming us to the Cook Street courtyard. A massive thank you to Wella for all the support you have given me over the years in Mt Eden. And thanks to my main supporter - my dad- if it wasnt for him McInnes and Co Hair wouldnt be Cant wait to see you all over the coming weeks Stay safe + be kind Abbey xx"
08.01.2022 Kia ora koutou! Our CEO, Ryan Baker, kicked off Timelys celebration of Te Wiki o te Reo Mori with a quick overview of why the Mori language is important to us here at Timely. "In my pepeha, when I introduce myself at all company huis, you may have heard me say; He Pkeh ahau, engari, kia hia hia te tikanga me te reo Mori ki ahau me to tatou kamapene.... Im Pkeh (a New Zealander of European descent) but Mori culture, customs and the language is important to me and our company. But why is it important? There are many reasons why we respect and appreciate the mori language, but Id like to focus on the business case. Because we are here, ultimately, as part of a business. I believe that the business case for making the mori language strong is not understood or articulated enough, especially by pkeh. The business case is tranga, or foundations; Language is the foundation of culture > Mori culture is the foundation of Aotearoa New Zealand (Kiwi) culture > Kiwi culture is the foundation of Timely culture > Timely culture is why our customers around the globe love working with us. This culture is characterised by humility, kindness, strong work ethic, being down to earth, not taking ourselves too seriously but filled with determination to be the best that we can. Our customers often refer to working with Timely people as "a breath of fresh air". These customers from all around the globe connect with us because of our culture and values. As Timely has grown in New Zealand, Australia and England we have welcomed more people to the team who have added new cultures while tending to have similar values to these foundations. Te Reo Mori, the native language of Mori New Zealanders, was declining in use since New Zealand became a colony of Britain in 1840. But today te Reo is experiencing a revival which also means a revival and appreciation of tikanga, mori culture and customs. We support this revival at Timely as part of our identity as a company founded in Aotearoa (New Zealand). Kia Kaha te Reo Mori. Lets make the Mori language strong. And by doing so, lets make our culture and identity strong on the world stage." #ReoMori
08.01.2022 We are #TimelyProud of @rachealkeeley and her brand new office! Racheal shares "I used to try working in the salon on my biz days, so I could be present and stay in touch with my team, however, I would always get distracted and it would take three times as long to get anything done Ive set this space up so I can feel inspired, get things done, and stay focused on goals."... We love your work Racheal!
05.01.2022 We couldnt be more #timelyproud of Priya (one of Timelys Success Coaches). Priya is on a quest to do 100 Marathons over the next couple of years With 42 under her belt, she is well on her way. Check out some of her recent medals below.
03.01.2022 R (day) #2 - Our commitment to inclusion. At Timely, our commitment to inclusion also extends to the way we celebrate #te-reo (Mori). This means we need to be cognisant of where other people are in their Te Reo journey and ensure that it is easy for other folks to follow along. Grace who works in the Timely product team shares her experience of Te Reo, comparing it with her first language of Filipino.... One of the things that helped me was to try and find similarities between my first language, Filipino, and Te Reo. Here are some of the similar words that Ive come across: Ear is Taringa in Te Reo, which is Tainga in Filipino. Five is Rima in Te Reo, which is Lima in Filipino. Seven is Whitu in Te Reo, which is Pito in Filipino. Try to find similarities within your culture rather than focus on differences when learning Te Reo/ Mori culture. Kia t rangatira te tangata I roto I ng akoranga o ttahi ki ttahi (Lets gain self-determination while learning in a safe environment with others.)"
