Within in the kitchen there is ALWAYS room for knowledge - children can learn new words, a new language, simple maths, time and communication skills, fine motor skills, as well as develop their cognitive skills just by helping prepare meals. ... ...not to mention, you get adorable little helpers! This pizza scroll/ pizza recipe is so enjoyable to make - its definitely become a favorite of all our friends and families! Dough: 2 cups of wholemeal self raising flour (plus extra for kneading Gand rolling out) 1 cup of low fat Greek Yoghurt Add your vegetables and cheese and put in the oven at 180 for 15-20 minutes or until golden and cheese is melted

24.01.2022 As a part of working with children I believe its extremely important that they know what goes into their meals. Which to me, means getting them in the kitchen. These are fantastic for lunches / lunch boxes / picnics / or even breakfasts. Not to mention theyre easy to make, YUMMY AND HEALTHY!

23.01.2022 WASH YOUR HANDS! With everything thats going on dont forget to teach your children the importance of personal hygiene! Heres a song that I sing with all the children under my watch to ensure theyre washing their hands probably and for the appropriate amount of time:... (Do the actions - and song should go for 20 seconds minimum) Top and bottom Top and bottom Inbetween Inbetween All around your hands All around your hands Wash them clean Wash them clean Dry them clean

22.01.2022 FINE MOTOR SKILLS AND COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT With toys like LEGO and Duplo your children can create more complex structures whilst demonstrating brain growth. These products ultimate purpose is to inspire and encourage children to think creatively, reason systematically and release their potential to shape their future. (During this example of LEGO we separated the warm and cool colours and made creatures out of each to further the childrens colou...r recognition!) Two of the key learning areas that this activity focus on is fine motor skill development and cognitive development FINE MOTOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT: - Fine motor skills are achieved when children learn to use their smaller muscles, like muscles in the hands, fingers, and wrists. COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT: -Cognitive development is the construction of thought processes, including remembering, problem solving, and decision-making, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood.

22.01.2022 Congratulations Wi & Jess -thats right LIL LIZE does events- Your wedding was absolutely stunning, as are both of you! I am extremely blessed to have been apart of your day, and even more blessed to have spent the day there as your babysitter. ... I had activities at the ready for the children, I.e. soccer goals/ ball and a speaker for music later in the day. This beautiful ceremony was out at Mannum by the river over the long weekend. With multiple families and children there, an incredible day spent with lovely people.

17.01.2022 Theres no way your children will be bored on my watch. Turn the TV and electronics off and lets get creative. All things that can be found in the house and are easily located by adults.

13.01.2022 I am so grateful to be seen as an emotional outlet for my children and my families. Never stop sharing your emotions. It helps us grow - I just saw a young child lashing out at their PARENTS (not just a mamma but daddas too!) at the supermarket. instead of judging them on poor parenting (as this was NOT the case regardless - the child had attempted to take something without paying and the parents made them go back and return it to the store), realize what's written in the p...hoto under this, and remember we don't know everyone's story. ***parents are our safe space and in a way - we should feel incredibly grateful and blessed when a child chooses you to be the person they unleash their emotional garbage on.***

13.01.2022 We love a fairy garden Instead of creating paintings that sometimes can get thrown away, torn or scrunched up.. why not paint on the native bark I thought? Its so easily available... I found all the bark, pine cones, gum nuts, dried leaves etc. on the floor of this surrounding property. ... The children and I thoroughly enjoyed painting on all of these pieces. And after a clear varnish was put on (to make sure they were water proof) up went the fairy decorations (leaves, gum nuts, pines cones etc.) and up went the bark as fairy and elf doors. (This fairy garden is still standing after a year)

13.01.2022 Dont let the weather limit your imagination! It was too cold for us to go outside so we set up camp inside with a fire and marshmallows! We sang songs and told each other stories as we laughed around the campfire! ... We also spoke about fire safety and what to do if there was a fire! STOP. . DROP. . ROLL.

12.01.2022 Who doesnt enjoy coming home to freshly baked goodies? I adore getting the children into the kitchen and this recipe is too easy not to get them involved! Absolutely delicious and a nice treat for the children after dinner or for yourselves with a cup of tea once the children are asleep

11.01.2022 Fantastic way to show children why its important to wash your hands and its also a really cool experiment, that all children Ive done it with LOVE

09.01.2022 Getting creative with colour Why use boring old paint brushes all the time when theres natural/native paint brushes outside in the backyard or at the park? Helps childrens imagination, cognitive development, fine motor skills, colour recognition and allows them to feel like theyve contributed into creating the activity/environment. Within one of these pictures I was teaching the children under my watch about WARM & COOL colours as well as PRIME COLOURS. Som...ething they have now taken into/ showed their friends at school /kindy. The natural/native paint brushes provide the children with numerous patterns and textures. These natural/native paint brushes can include anything from dried leaves/flowers to weeds from the back yard (bonus the weeding is done). This is also a great way to get the children and yourselves outside and learning about the plants outdoors! I always clean up after myself - as well as letting the children help to further develope their SELF HELP SKILLS. PLEASE NOTE that there are poisonous plants around the place, so if its an unfamiliar plant - its best to leave it alone.

04.01.2022 GOOD MORNING! And what a beautiful start to Wednesday it’s been Outdoor environments in the morning sun is one of my favorite things to do with the children as we welcome the day. SWING SET - ... Swinging develops a child's core muscles and helps with the development of balance. Spinning on a swing stimulates different parts of a child's brain simultaneously. This is important for learning skills such as spatial awareness, rhythm and balance and muscle control. Just like infants enjoy a gentle rocking motion, young children tend to enjoy gentle swinging motions to help them relax and fall asleep faster. The back and forth and spinning motions help balance neurological activity in your child's brain, settling haywire minds into a more restful state. Remember to stay active friends

03.01.2022 SPICY PAINTING Cant get your hands on paint? Want your children to use more of their imagination and sensory capabilities? ... Perfect for days when the weather wont let you outside! WHY NOT TRY SOME OF THESE SPICE PAINTS? Just add your choice of spices and water - not edible nor should you or your child/ren use their fingers incase of irritation!

02.01.2022 Dear mama, Could you wake up for a minute? I know it's hard for you to open your eyes - we haven't slept a lot yet tonight. But mama, I kinda need you right now.... You see, the thing is, I feel a bit lonely at the moment. I'm laying here in my crib and I'm somewhat cold. I didn't mean to cry so I'm sorry I did. I've been trying to get your attention by making some noises for a while now but you were in such a deep sleep, you couldn't hear me. I don't know how else to get your attention. During the day, I see and hear you all make noises and I see you respond well to each other. You talk to me like that too. And I try very hard but I don't know how to do that yet. So I cry so you'd listen to me. Mama, I'm sorry for crying. Like I said, I feel a bit lonely. I just spent nine months inside your belly where I've always felt safe. It's a bit scary to me to be in such a big bed all by myself. I miss your heartbeat, the rushing of your blood, the warmth and the food.I miss your breathing and your hands you put over me to protect me when I still was inside your belly. So mama, would you please listen to me? I'm calling for you in the only way I'm able to. I feel really alone. I need your warmth and your peace for a moment. I need to know for sure you're still here. So can I come lay with you for a little while to feel your warmth? Some cuddles first. Mama, this feels so nice. When I feel you holding me while you gently rock me and when I can smell and feel you, I feel so safe. I can feel your hand on my back and my ear is placed just right on your heart. Mom, this is home to me. Do you remember back when we were always together? I always felt like this back then. Sometimes I miss that time. It was so nice to be close to you. I hear you softly whisper into my ear "Everything is okay little one, everything is fine". Your voice is so soft and familiar. You smell good mom. A bit like me and a bit like you. Mama, will you hold me just a little longer? I'm really tired and I feel so relaxed in your arms. It almost feels like before. I'm going to close my eyes for a little while, okay? Can I please stay with you here a little longer to enjoy your love and your presence? And can I drink some more? Mama, since we're laying like this anyway...I'd like to ask you something. I know, it sounds pretty sad because I can't talk like you can yet so I'm sorry for crying again. But mama, can I please drink some more? My throat is dry and my tummy is empty and since we're here anyway...maybe I can have a few more sips? Your milk tastes delicious and is so warm and familiar. Thanks mom, that's exactly what I needed. I was really really thirsty. Your finger on my cheek feels great by the way. And you're smiling at me. Nothing makes me happier than seeing your smile and feeling your presence. I'll close my eyes again, okay? Please don't put me away straight away, I really enjoy falling asleep here. This feels really good. Can I stay with you for another hour or so? My tummy hurts. What is that?! Mama! Can you feel this? Mom? My tummy hurts so bad. What is happening? Please help me mama, I don't know what's happening. I've never felt anything like this. Thank you for rubbing my belly mom. It's late and everyone is asleep. I'm so happy you're here for me. I don't know what I'd do without you mama. My tummy already hurts less and when you hold me like that...I feel pretty tired. Maybe I'll close my eyes again. Please hold me a little longer? Can I have more cuddles? You won't believe this mama! I'm a bit scared. I just woke up and I didn't know where I was for a second. It was all dark and a little cold again. I know you're tired mama. But I really missed you, can I please be with you again for a while? Mama, I can see that you're tired. There are tears in your eyes and every now and then a tear rolls down your cheek. I'm sorry mama but I feel really strange in this new world. I miss home. I miss always being close to you. Sometimes I feel a tear fall on my head while you gently rock me. You're singing me a song so that I can go back to sleep. You softly dry the tears that fell on my head with your hand. That feels nice mom, do that again? I fall asleep on your chest. You feel so soft, so familiar. There's nowhere I sleep better than here. My legs are pulled up, just like they were back when I still lived with you. I can hear your heartbeat again and I move along with your breathing. I will learn soon. Mama, you're the best place to be. I'm so glad I get to come to you over and over again. I don't like being unable to just ask either but I'm really happy you listen to me when I call for you. Soon, I'll be able to be there for you. Or for my brothers or sisters. Or for my friends in school. You're teaching me how to take care of someone. You're teaching me that you listen, even when I can't ask. You're teaching me I'm safe, even when sometimes it feels like I'm not. You're teaching me that you love me, even when you're very tired. Thank you. And mama, I love you. {author unknown} Photo by Alicia Abbott Photography.
