25.01.2022 REED the News - September edition. https://mailchi.mp/3ff3987a629a/september-6059113

25.01.2022 It’s that time of the year, but we know exactly what to do if we see a snake to make sure we’re safe..... ‘STAND STILL LIKE A STATUE AND SHOUT FOR HELP!’

22.01.2022 This week we started reading the adapted Aboriginal Dreamtime Story ‘Tiddalick the Frog Who Caused a Flood’ Tiddalick was a greedy frog who drank all the water from the land and didn’t save ANY for anyone else. All of the other animals were thirsty so came up with the good idea to make Tiddalick laugh so they could get their water back! Once Tiddalick laughed, all of the water came out of his stomach and everyone had water again! After we read the story, we painted our own portraits of Tiddalick and also made our own Tiddalicks with dot painting. We are going to use this story and the artworks in our bathrooms to remind our children of the importance of using water wisely so that there is enough water left for everyone to use and enjoy.

20.01.2022 Today we used all of the air in our lungs to make bubbles to paint with! Take a deep breath in to fill up our lungs and blow the air down the straw to make bubbles appear!! We thought it was great and loved to see the print the bubbles made when we caught them on our paper!

20.01.2022 GARDEN UPDATE Check out our garden now!!! We’ve got strawberries on our plants! ... A few cherry tomatoes are growing as well! Some tiny capsicums are forming on the bush! Our corn is getting taller and taller! And hopefully our carrots will pop through the ground soon!! We’re excited and can’t wait to taste them all

19.01.2022 Last week was NAIDOC week so we did some simple activities with our little Tigers. There was a small world area to explore, lots of books to read, some sand symbols to create and an Indigenous inspired puzzle to put together! We even had a go at our own Aboriginal paintings using the symbol cards that were in the sand. We learnt that the symbols have their own meanings and that Aboriginal Peoples use the symbols as a way to tell other people their stories.

18.01.2022 Its warming up......that only means one thing! WATER PLAY!! Yesterday we were busy digging holes in the sandpit and seeing how much water those holes could hold. ... We talked about how the water felt when we touched it. Our favourite description was ‘the water feels comfortable, like a pillow’.

17.01.2022 This week we’ve been loving creating in the sandpit. Wednesday we made our own trees using the logs and branches from the Jacaranda tree, Thursday we found the trinkets from our fairy potions so we added those and sparkles to the sandpit and then today the weather rained on us, so we bought the sandpit inside and created with some jars, flowers and of course more sparkles!

11.01.2022 Jaz had her birthday on Monday, so today we baked her a cake! We put the ingredients in the bowl and mixed them with the beaters, put the batter in the cake tin and then got to taste test it (yum !!) before we put it in the oven to cook! After it cooled, we put some icing on it and decorated it with sprinkles! At afternoon tea time, we lit the candles and sang Happy Birthday to Jaz before we got to eat all of the delicious cake with our fruit!!... And the BEST part........we get to make another cake tomorrow because today was Bernadette’s birthday so we will celebrate with her when she’s at daycare with us!

09.01.2022 Last week we discovered that shells left their prints in our playdough, so we searched the collage trolley for some more things that we thought would make some prints. We found some tiny dinosaurs that left their footprints as they stomped over the playdough!! So this week, we’ve experimented with other things that leave prints.....kitchen rolls, kitchen utensils, our foot prints in paint and our hand prints in salt dough!! We have loved seeing the prints that we leave behind.

03.01.2022 We could hear ‘beep beep beep’ from outside after our rest and imagine our surprise when we raced out to find a truck backing up to the fence full of sand for our sandpit!!!!!!! We loved watching the trailer tip up and the sand slide out and can’t wait for our sandpit to be full again to make sandcastles with!! Thank you to Mark and Jo from Holberton Earthmoving for donating the sand and delivering it. You guys are awesome!!
