24.01.2022 HELP OUR YOUNG PEOPLE HELP THOSE IN NEED PLEASE SHARE THIS POST AND CONSIDER DONATING The Gawler and District College B-12 Interact Club, under the guidance of ...their teacher Tunya Greenhalgh, are undertaking a food drive to donate to Foodbank who are working under considerable pressure to support the increasing number of families in need. So DONATE a can of any type of food that can help a family this Christmas. In addition to personal donations, it would be great if people in businesses in the local area could undertake a collection within their office and make a combined contribution. Cans of food can be left at my electorate office by Wednesday 9th December. Interact is a sub-branch of Rotary for 12-18 year olds. 24.01.2022 The Adelaide metro area, and as far as Mount Gambier, is currently experiencing smoke from the Kangaroo Island bushfires, which will worsen between midnight ton...ight and midday tomorrow. The smoke burden for Adelaide will be worse than previously experienced during recent bushfires. Bushfire smoke may cause discomfort for anyone, and especially those with chest and heart conditions. The best way to minimise these symptoms is to: Stay indoors Close doors, windows and air vents Use recycled or recirculated air in vehicles Continue regular medications Follow your health management plans Avoid rigorous outdoor exercise. For more information, visit: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/bushfires

22.01.2022 In stressful times (eg. every day of 2020) a great way to manage the degree of uncertainty is to focus on what you can control, and to turn your attention away ...from the things you cant control. Our team loved this pictorial image below that guides you through what you can control, and what you might try to let go of. Just a note- it refers to the CDC which is the American Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. In Australia, you can get similar advice on the Department of Health website. [Alt tag: This image, created by Carrie Stephens Art, shows visual representation of things I cannot control, So, I can let go of these things and things I can control, So I will focus on these things. The things that I can control are; my positive attitude, turning off the news, finding fun things to do at home, how I follow CDC recommendations, limiting my social media, my own social distancing and my kindness and grace. A cartoon drawing of a fox faces these points. Outside the circle is things I cannot control, so I can let go of these things. These are as follows, if others follow the rules of social distancing, the actions of others, predicting what will happen, other peoples motives, the amount of toilet paper at the store, how long this will last and how others react. 21.01.2022 Gardening is rewarding! Here at Lilac Support, we assist South Australians living with a disability to lead full and independent lives. We aid and encourage those to learn new skills and reach goals. We recently assisted in completing a veggie garden project. We supported one of our clients in planting all sorts of vegetables and provided training on how to care and maintain the garden. The result has been incredible! Delicious vegetables harvested and used to create fantastic meals! Doesnt this look like fun?!
