08.01.2022 Please note the latest government advice regarding the coronavirus.

08.01.2022 ECA FAQsIf a family choose to keep their child at home for the next several weeks, can I waive the gap fee? No, the law does not allow you to waive the gap fee.... From the Child Care Provider Handbook: A key principle and requirement under Family Assistance Law is that all parents who receive Child Care Subsidy (CCS) should make a co-contribution to their child care fees. The Australian Government has changed the law to enable early learning and care services to waive the gap fee only if services are instructed by authorities to shut down because of COVID-19. The waiver cannot be applied while the service is still open. ECA is asking the government to apply the gap fee waiver now, to assist families and services to maintain enrolments. For parents and carers who choose to keep their child at home, the government has extended the period of allowable absences to 62 days (up from 42 days) in the financial year 2019-2020. This change is scheduled to take effect around 19 April. In addition, parents are no longer required to provide a medical certificate to claim additional absences (on top of the 62 days). 06.01.2022 This week, Early childhood educators and teachers across the country will go into early learning services, preschools and schools where they will interact with children of essential workers who could be exposed to COVID-19. They will not be given face masks or protective clothing. They wont get free coffee, half price pizza or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ways they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the c...hildren in their care dont know how scared they are; Scared for those children. Scared for their own. Scared of being responsible for taking the virus home to loved ones. Thank you to all Educators, Teachers and anyone else heading into an early learning centre, preschool or school this week to keep it running so that our amazing health workers and carers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, our shops can stay open and services can continue. You too are heroes! *Copy & paste to show appreciation for all Teachers & School Support Staff continuing their duties at this time* See more

05.01.2022 Important COVID-19 update for education and care services: Community Child Care Association is happy to hear that the Commonwealth Government is working to pa...ss legislation today so that if services are closed, CCS can still be paid (without parents having to pay a gap fee). We have advised the government that this is not enough money to be able to continue to pay the current workforce. The legislation changes will also prescribe an extra 20 days of allowable absences for families who need to self-isolate while services are still operational. The Department Secretary will soon provide services with a letter explaining these new measures. Keep an eye out for this in the next few days. See more

05.01.2022 Thank you to all our Lil Angels and their families who attended our end of year celebration, thank you for all your continuous support throughout the year!!! Lets bring on 2020

05.01.2022 ECA daily FAQAllowable absences: If a family chooses to keep their child at home for weeks, can I charge them for the missed sessions? Yes. Parents and carers ...may still be eligible to receive Child Care Subsidy (CCS) while their child is not attending. The Federal Government has decided to extend the allowable absences that may be accrued by each child beyond 42 days (for the financial year), without the need for a medical certificate. Changes to the Ministers Rules have now been published. The changes are: A child will be allowed an extra 20 allowable absences for 2019-20, bringing the total up to 62 days. This is scheduled to take effect around 19 April. Parents will not require a medical certificate to claim additional absences (on top of the 62 days).
