22.01.2022 Does your child struggle with after-school restraint collapse? Do they hold it all together at school and then get home and fall apart? This can happen because... they use so much energy at school for behavior and academics. When they get home they may lose their minds. A few things you can do: Healthy simple snacks are great to have ready to go. Car line? Make sure to pack a snack for the ride home. Questions about their day-don’t ask them right away. Instead focus on something you may have for dinner, an activity, or something they can look forward to. This can keep them from getting frustrated with trying to recall information from the day. Connect. If they are frustrated and complaining connect with them by acknowledging the struggle. It sounds like a hard day Sit next to them and just show you are present. Give them space to work through it and re-connect with you.

16.01.2022 Children are born with a sense of wonder and an affinity for nature. Properly cultivated these values can mature into ecological literacy and eventually into sustainable patterns of living. -Zenobia Barlow

14.01.2022 We were lucky to purchase a copy of this beautiful book Have You Seen a Tree For Me written by one of the staff of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Sarah Eccleston and illustrated by Jenni Goodman. It highlights the plight of our beautiful koalas while following the journey of a young Koala Joey named Enzo. The proceeds from the sale of this book go to supporting the amazing work carried out at Currumbin every day. We are fortunate to have my daughter Jessica Maloney spending time at The sanctuary as part of her studies. She often sends us photos of the animals she is working with, giving us a perspective we may not get as visitors to the park. Through these interactions we are connecting to our communities while becoming socially responsible and showing respect while caring for our environment.

05.01.2022 Well that was an interesting week to end the year. Thankyou to all my wonderful families for your patience and understanding as we have faced some unexpected and unavoidable challenges. I appreciate each and every member of my Lil Critta’s community. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and this couldn’t be more true with you all providing the most wonderful upbringing for our beautiful children. I hope you all enjoy a safe and happy Christmas with people that you love. Good luck to my big preschool friends, my big primary school friend and I can’t wait to see you all next year for more adventures. I will send out emails in the new year with reminders for starting dates and days. Again Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for making my first year in family daycare the best year ever.

04.01.2022 Here's why Rock n' Roll will never die!

04.01.2022 This week is National Child Protection Week, celebrating 30 years. This years theme is: Putting Children First Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare. For children to thrive we need to come together as a community and put children’s needs ...first during National Child Protection Week and every week. https://www.napcan.org.au

03.01.2022 Can’t wait to go visit!!

01.01.2022 From interacting and waving to people in the community such as neighbours or community workers like the garbage truck driver, postal workers or becoming comfortable and secure with adults in the service such as parents of other children, coordination staff, visitors and educators family. For children, a sense of community plays an important role in the development of their feelings of belonging and security. Children thrive in an environment of mutually supportive and caring ...relationships. For this reason developing a sense of community within a service is crucial. It is also valuable for children to feel part of a wider community that extends beyond the learning environment. As children grow and develop, connections to the outside world help them to find their place in the world, to develop understandings of how society works, and to recognise and understand the shared values that underpin our society. For many families early childhood settings often provide their first contact with a wider community beyond the home. Because of this, early childhood services can act as an important point of connection for families. They can foster supportive relationships between families as well as connecting families to other organisations and services in the local community. See more
