24.01.2022 Lot's of challenges in beekeeping even without the varoa mite- not sure what will happen if (when?) that spreads in Australia. With the worldwide beepopulation weakened by the modern agricultural farming practices, one doesn't have to be surprised all manner of bugs and parasites find an easy target in our bees.
17.01.2022 We melted a big batch of beeswax yesterday so took the opportunity to make some candles :) I love the smell of it! Merry Christmas!
11.01.2022 A fresh batch of Rainforest Honey delivered to The Source and Edens Landing Mullumbimby today, and also to The Source Byron Bay and Brunswick Heads Health Foods tomorrow. A really light coloured honey with the most wonderful flavour, if I may say so myself ;)
08.01.2022 I'm not quite sure what to make of these- seems like a good, maybe 'too good to be true' idea... I worry that it's being marketed as a hive you never have to touch and a lot of people might get one and then not open and maintain them enough and loose them to pest or disease. I mean it would be easier to keep bees if it wasn't for the bees... but you know.. ain't going happen ;)

01.01.2022 Never let a beekeeper be the driver when traveling a fairly unknown stretch of road! 'Ohh- did you see that tree?'~swerve... 'Look, that one over there was in flower, did you see what kind of bark it had?' ~swerve the other way... Next time I think I'll be driving ;)
