21.01.2022 Reflecting is one of my favourite things to do in my role. It’s something I practice regularly. Today we had the opportunity to chat at morning tea where we talked about the girls first term here and looked at examples where they had grown and developed. They are now able to put their shoes on independently for excursions. Our youngest child has gone from half a day to sleeping here and staying a full day. One of our children has been able to grow her confidence in her caring... character with her new friends. The girls have all learned about sharing and have a stronger understanding of how to be fair, patient and use words to express that they want a turn. They have a strong understanding of the Montessori philosophy for order in the environment where they have been putting resources away ready for the next child to use. Also with gentle reminders and encouragement the girls have shown willingness and enthusiasm to pack toys away part of their routine. On excursions the girls have learned the importance of listening to instructions and direction when getting out of the car and crossing roads in the neighbourhood. Most of all they have all bonded, showing a fondness of each other and enthusiasm and confidence when coming to their FDC aka ‘little school’! Sometimes we are putting one foot in front of the other and it can feel, as an educator, that things are the same but when we reflect back we can see how much progress has been made in so many areas of life. They are now excited to show their older siblings their little school next week during the Easter holidays and teach them the routine.

18.01.2022 Lots of exploring, imaginary boat and house play and pushing one another on the swing this morning at the playground. One of the girls worked on taking a leap of faith jumping between the stepping stones. We felt grateful to get out and about just in case we end up going into lockdown over Easter. Fingers crossed as this fresh air and sunshine is one of the best ways to stay healthy.

13.01.2022 How’s your Easter weekend been? So much non-stop rain but we used the fours days to decorate the final room in the house- the Role Play Room that is so loved and enjoyed by the children. Just in time for the school holidays fun.
