23.01.2022 About today well done to my beautiful Lilo Samoa dance academy Senior tama’ita’i Samoa girls for getting up bright and early for our videoshoot today I’m so proud of you all and how you all hacked the tuiga Thank you to Masiofo by SaBra for dressing my girls and also to DJ Gazah for shooting our videos and taking the girls professional photos. Can’t wait to see the end piece... Thank you to the parents who came out to support them. See you all soon my loves, well done for the last few weeks putting up with me as your Siva Samoa dance teacher. It’s been a blessing knowing each and everyone one of you. 22.01.2022 Talofa Aiga ma Uo Masani, and Facebook friends. Today we had our first LSDA dance classes from ages 4yrs - upwards. It was a success and I "Katherine Ioane" enjoyed teaching the Siva Samoa to such a great loving eager bunch of beauties. Please watch the video below for more information, times, prices and days dance classes are on. ... We've changed the youngins age group class times to 3.30pm - 4.00pm (so only half an hour now), however this can change in future along with the class times, days and prices. The students shown on the video below are students that parents gave social media consent to allow us to showcase them on here. Thank you so much for allowing Katherine to teach and showcase the beauty of Siva Samoa to your children. We're excited for next Saturday. It's not too late to sign up. If you don't want to sign up and you just want your daughters nieces, cousins mothers friends etc come to one of the Saturday classes when available, thats perfect as well. "CLASSES ARE OPEN TO ALL NATIONALITIES AND AGE GROUPS between 4yrs upwards" All you need to bring with you is a "ie lavalava", your can do attitude and your huge smile. 11.01.2022 ***Today’s LSDA Siva Samoa Classes*** Such a joy and blessing to be teaching these beauties the art of Siva Samoa We’re on break next week. ... I’ll be posting up the official days/ dates, age groups, times and prices per student now that classes will be running on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Venue: 29 Barkley’s PLace, Marsden QLD 4132. Keep an eye out on more information for a fortnight’s LSDA classes to start on the 28th of July - should be up by tomorrow the latest, for those that still haven’t secured a spot it’s not too late, you still have time to do so. 07.01.2022 Talofa lava and happy New Year’s Eve :) My name is @katherine_ioane for those that don’t know me and I’m the director/ founder and leader of @lilosamoadanceacademy :) My passion is the Siva Samoa and our culture, I love to dance not only the Siva Samoa but other cultures too as some of you closest to me already know.... Siva Samoa is my escape from the real world, when I’m sad, happy, excited, going through a tough or rough patch in my life, I turn to music, my diary and the Siva Samoa. I’ve been dancing since I was a little girl, always representing my family in Tausala’s or performing in school culture performances, even choreographed a few dances in my prime time lol, also watching Miss Samoa pageants since I could remember and just seeing the beauty of our culture being displayed in such grace and passion. I’m truly blessed and grateful that I get to share what I love and am passionate about with the future generations and the oldies of not only our culture, but also to different ethic backgrounds and nationalities. As I’ve once heard before, Dance is a way to find yourself and lose yourself all the same time. The only real limitation on your abilities is the level of your desires. If you want it badly enough there are no limits on what you can achieve. So family and friends, if you think you’re not graceful enough or you can’t dance or you’re not of Samoan heritage/ background, or whatever it may be that will stop you from joining LSDA in 2021. Think again. here at LSDA there’s no boxes you need to tick off to join, come as you are and ready to learn about the Samoa culture and siva’s my team and I have to teach. 06.01.2022 Throwback to this past Saturday with some of the LSDA STUDENTS !!! Teaching them the importance of the Ava ceremony and what it means in our Samoan culture, the Ava ceremony is normally performed in the beginning of any important function, gathering or services and is normally led by the high Chief of the hosting village. The girls enjoyed having a go at it. ... Now a days everyone, uses the Ava action in their siva’s but don’t know what it means, it’s really important to understand and know the true meaning behind it all. Malo lava LSDA students !!! 02.01.2022 ****Introducing 2021 boys dance tutor/ Mentor @junior_motunuu**** Talofa family and friends, That’s right family and friends, we have @junior_motunuu jumping onboard as the boys dance tutor / mentor for 2021 with @lilosamoadanceacademy ... Boy classes will be from the ages 5 years to opens. Junior and myself are the ones that teach the Samoa cultural siva’s within our youth group. Junior writes Samoa songs and is a great dance teacher / mentor to the kids. (Swipe left to see the last slide where Junior is on the pak and the song the youth is singing is written and taught my Junior and the girls choreo is by me - @katherine_ioane ) Junior is going to be a great asset to the LSDA mentor / dance tutor team and LSDA family altogether. As much as I am passionate about our beloved Samoa culture so is Junior and we look forward to journeying with you all in the new year.
