24.01.2022 For the period of Covid19 isolation, The South American Judo Confederation ran a video Kata Tournament, open to the World, where only the Tori part of the Kata was demonstrated on video. Our own Francis D'Couto WON the Senior Kyu Grade Nage-no-Kata division!! Major CONGRATULATIONS! And great for Judo Victoria Inc.

23.01.2022 This is not only a good idea, but funny.

19.01.2022 Use a punching bag or duffel bag stuffed with old cushions or pillows or even old pillows or cushions wrapped in an old blanket. Kids, check with mum or dad first. These are good exercises by themselves as well as for groundwork.

18.01.2022 Thank you Dojo Mats #BackToJudoVic #DojoMats https://dojomats.com/pages/back-to-judo-initiative

15.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

07.01.2022 Another approach to warm-up and groundwork exercises

05.01.2022 Some more from Matt. Please do not wreck walls or chairs when practising. Kids - check with mum or dad.

05.01.2022 The SeiryokuZenyo-KokuminTaiiku is a set of exercises or Kata for Judo. It was formulated by Jigoro Kano who insisted that it should be taught to beginners. It has 2 Sections: Tandoku Renshu or solo practice and Sotai Renshu or partnered practice. Kano used the Tandoku Renshu as a warm-up and taught it alongside breakfalls for beginners. The Sotai Renshu has 2 parts: Kime-Shiki a simplified version of Kme-no-Kata and Ju-Shiki an abridged version of Ju-no-Kata. My demonstration is far from perfect. Despite practising this Kata for some 50 years producing a good demonstration with bad knees and back presented difficulties. The feeling is there, but athleticism is lacking.

03.01.2022 Tell people about this and wish them Happy World Judo Day

02.01.2022 The Joshi Goshinho (Women's Self-defence practice) was established in 1943 by the Kodokan after the death of Jigoro Kano, when his nephew Nango Jiro was Kodokan president. Part one is, unusually, a solo practice and aims to train the most basic body movements - taisabaki - for Judo. I found this video had to produce as I could see every movement that was not perfect. Give it a try, it is something you can do during lockdown.

02.01.2022 Judo Victoria's premier event. If you can't enter, you can volunteer ([email protected]) to help or just go along as a spectator. Full details - http://www.judobalwyn.org.au/wp-cont//2021/01/MIJO2021.pdf
