25.01.2022 We currently have a crew assisting our colleagues at SES Upper Yarra Unit unit in the search for Susan. Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing Warburton woman Susan Shaw. The 67-year-old was last seen on Mount Donna Buang Road about 1.40am this morning.... When last seen she was wearing a green cardigan, jeans and bright pink short boots, although she may have removed her cardigan due to the warm weather. Police and family have concerns for her welfare as her disappearance is out of character. Investigators have released an image of Susan in the hope that someone can provide information on her current whereabouts. Anyone who has seen Susan or with any information is requested to contact Warburton Police Station on 5966 2006. Senior Constable Adam West

16.01.2022 Every 3 years every Accredited Road Rescue Provider is required to undertake a Unit / Brigade level recertification, called a Road Rescue Capability Assessment - or RRCA This is to ensure all providers have the systems, equipment, training and people in place to ensure that when you call, regardless of what colour the truck is, or the uniform that is worn, the Rescue Provider is up to Standard. Our members are currently preparing for that assessment with a few scenarios, as w...ell as ensuring we are prepared for Flood and Storm events, , land rescues, searches and all the other things we do. These photos were taken This Monday just past, while other members were finalising the last jobs left over from the Storm event Sunday night.

10.01.2022 Our members are our greatest asset. But behind those members, are the second line members of our unit - their families. Family support of our members is so important to us. We understand that our members run out in the middle of dinner to attend a Rescue. Miss basketball training with the kids because they are patching a roof for an elderly couple after a tree fell on it. They miss weekends because they are on training courses learning new skills to better themselves and ou...r units response capability. They head out In the early hours to assist searching for a missing teen and might be out until dinner. So to the families of all our members, this weekend we formally recognise YOUR contribution, in letting us ‘borrow’ your loved one. Sometimes at the most inconvenient time. We know that without your support, many of our members would find it difficult to volunteer. And for this, and everything else you do to support them, we say Thank You!!!!

09.01.2022 The legends over at MSC have some cool new Graphics for the Thunderstorm warnings.... Sunday evening into Monday Morning looks like we’ll see some significant weather after a 33 degree Sunday. Take Care

01.01.2022 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL For people in North Central, North East, West and South Gippsland and parts of Central, East Gippsland and Northern Country Forecast Districts. Issued at 1:23 pm Thursday, 17 December 2020.... SEVERE STORMS ACROSS CENTRAL AND EASTERN VIC Stay Informed: http://www.bom.gov.au/vic/warnings/ Weather Situation: A broad low pressure trough and high atmospheric moisture leading to favourable storm environment over much of Victoria today. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Warning area is likely to expand eastwards during the day, and contract from central districts during the evening. Severe thunderstorms may continue overnight in eastern Victoria. Locations which may be affected include Shepparton, Seymour, Melbourne, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Traralgon, Sale, Moe and Bairnsdale. The Victoria State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * Be alert that in areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads. * Be aware - heat, fire or recent storms may make trees unstable and more likely to fall when it's windy or wet. * Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. * Stay indoors and away from windows. * If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways. * If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible. * Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees. * Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live. * Stay informed: Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline. The next warning is due to be issued by 4:25 pm. If severe thunderstorms develop in the Melbourne Area, a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area.
