18.01.2022 After such a long dry period, with harrowing fires around the country, we have some respite in Byron Bay with a few days of rain. The lawns have bounced back to vivid green, the dam is starting to fill up and the gardens flourishing once again. #byronbay #rain #lilypadbyron

17.01.2022 We have had the big dry and horrendous bushfires, now we have flooding rain. Our neighbour Rex, with 70+ years of local knowledge and experience, predicted last year that there would be a deluge in February. The Lily Pad will be soaking up the rainy goodness and gardens will be so iridescent green you’ll need to wear shades on the deck. #thisisaustralia #byronbay #bigwet @ Skinners Shoot

06.01.2022 Happy New Year. May the path you tread this year be lush with opportunity and hope. May you meet challenges with strength and resilience. And find happiness from deep within. #happynewyear #2021 #lilypadbyron #byronbay #byronbaylife

03.01.2022 Thank you to all the volunteer fire fighters who've tirelessly and selflessly risked their lives during this horrendous bushfire season. We have a huge concrete bushfire tank behind The Lily Pad and the only time we have ever had to use the fire hose was to test the pump. (It works.) We are grateful we have never been faced with a situation like these photographers have captured below. The story of this bushfire season is a wake-up call to us all, a canary in the coal mine (pardon the irony in that metaphor), pointing to an increasingly volatile climate future.
