25.01.2022 Tummy time, back massages and baby chats . Tummy time helps babies develop and strengthen neck and shoulder muscles which are needed for sitting up, rolling over, crawling and walking, helps develop strength and control for eye muscles. Also prevents a flat spot on the back of the head! Tummy time is a great time to incorporate some massage. I had a client explain to me that her regular massages is her down time, to re ground herself, to ease the busy mind, to refresh and to switch off and have an hour to herself away from the stresses life. This got me thinking and I realised that massage is a lot more to some people than just treating a tender muscle or injury. 06.01.2022 What is Fascia? . I often speak about fascia during my treatments, here is a visual of what fascia looks like . Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. It is a continual structure that is joined head to toe, so it pretty much holds us together.... Because if it being one continual structure can you see how ‘knots’ can limit mobility and cause pain in different parts of the body? . Myofascial release is a massage technique used to address the fascia. It is a slow, deep and less oil is used. Alternatively vacuum cupping is used. 05.01.2022 Cupping . Cupping is a technique I sometimes use in my remedial/relaxation treatments. Cupping is like the inverse of massage, rather than applying pressure to the muscles it gently pulls the muscle upwards. It can assist with releasing muscle tension, encouraging blood flow and relaxing the nervous system .... *I dont use cups in my pregnancy treatments as I have a variety of other amazing techniques. 01.01.2022 Baby Massage with this handsome little man Banks and his mum loved the Baby Massage sessions. . Lately Ive been asked when is the best time to start baby massage. Well the answer is, whenever! It can be as early as 1 week. .... Most parents wait until at least 2 weeks because thats generally when theyve settled in and gathered a little routine and in some some cases bubs suffer wind, colic, constipation, unsettled etc and baby massage is super beneficial for this. Some parents like to wait until after the 6 week mark and then some parents wait until the 3-6 months or later because theyre ready to venture out and try new things with bub and its more of a fun activity to do and the benefits are still amazing! .
