Temporary Visa Holders are expected to support themselves. Having said that, those who have stayed longer can access their superannuation funds 3. Those who work in the critical / essential industries are invited to stay longer... Following arrangements have been made to temporary visa holders: 1.Visitor Visa - Subclass 601, 600 International tourists should return to their home country ASAP if they are here without family support. 2.Student Visa - Subclass 500 Students in their first year would have provided warranty that they can provide support for themselves Students who have been here longer than 12 months should rely on their savings and they can also access their superannuation funds if they have been doing part time jobs. Students are encouraged to find part-time work where available. If they cant support themselves, they should rely on family support and their own savings. 3.New Zealanders Subclass 444 Those who have arrived before 26 February 2001 can access welfare payments and the JobKeeper payment. Those who arrived after 2001 can access the JobKeeper payment. Those who have lived in Australia for 10 years or more can access the JobSeeker payments for six months. 4.Temporary Skilled Visa - Subclass 457, 482 If you have been stood down where hours have been reduced The visa is still valid - without the person being in breach of their visa condition. Businesses will have the opportunity to extend the visa as per normal arrangements. Can access up to $10,000 of their superannuation this financial year. If you have been laid off You have 60 days to seek another business to sponsor you. 5.Working Holiday Visa / Backpacker visa - Subclass 417 Those working in the critical sectors such as Health Care, Aged and Disability Care, Agriculture and Food processing, and Childcare will be exempted from the six (6) month work limitation with the one employer and can work longer. They will be eligible for a further visa as they are encouraged to stay. After the 1 year, if they are still working under the critical sector, they can extend for another year. 6.Temporary Graduate Visa - Subclass 485 visa They can also access their superannuation funds if they have to support themselves. In general, the above arrangements are under constant review. If any of the above visa holders cannot support themselves over the next six months, should consider returning to their home country.
