20.01.2022 Many of us need our morning coffee, but did you know what it can do your smile? So in celebration of International Coffee Day, here are some tips to look after your teeth while still getting your coffee fix. 1. STAIN - Try drinking coffee through a straw or wash your mouth after drinking your coffee... 2. DRY MOUTH - Drink more water! Staying hydrated is not only crucial for oral health but also for overall well being 3. ACID EROSION - wait at least 30mins after consuming and acidic beverage before brushing your teeth, and rinse your mouth with water before brushing. 4. CAVITIES - When drinking coffee with syrups and sugars you are creating an environment that promotes cavities. Try cutting back on the sugars or make sure you rinse your mouth :) If you are concisous of your coffee stained teeth book in to see one of our dentists about your options for teeth whitening.

20.01.2022 IT'S DENTAL HEALTH WEEK. This year we're encouraging everyone to have a look at what is in you are putting in your trolley. Sugar can be called over 50 different names, making it hard to detect on food and drink labels. These are known as hidden sugars. Find the common names for sugar here: https://bit.ly/30fZXq0 @healthyteethaustralia @australiandentalassociation

11.01.2022 On Remembrance Day The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marks the moment the guns fell silent on the Western Front after the bloodshed of World War I. Over the past century, this moment has been adopted across the globe as a time to remember those who served and sacrificed in all wars and conflicts. This Remembrance Day, RSL Queensland is asking all Australians to Remember to Remember to commit to pausing for just one minute to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country, those who returned home injured or ill, and those who bravely serve our country today.

09.01.2022 It's important that children feel comfortable about going to the dentist. Together, watch The Feelingwells visit the dentist. There, Bebe learns about all the different instruments the dentist uses to keep her teeth healthy. The dentist polishes her teeth to get them extra clean! 09.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW Baby pigs have 28 teeth which fall out when the piglet is around 12 months old and are replaced with the stronger 44 teeth that adult pigs have. Much like human teeth, the teeth of the pig have an enamel coating which makes the teeth of the pig stronger and less exposed to disease.... Pigs are one of the few wild animals that properly chew their food as pigs have a digestive system that is similar to that of the human and therefore cannot digest un-chewed food. easily.

05.01.2022 Did you get it right? In one 600ml bottle of soft drink, on average, there are 16 teaspoons of sugar. This is over twice the recommended daily sugar intake for adults. Figures show that the average Australian is consuming 14 teaspoons of sugar a day, a whole lot more than the maximum six teaspoons a day recommended by the World Health Organisation for increased health benefits such as decreasing the risk of tooth decay, which is having a profoundly negative effect on Australias dental health as revealed by Australias Oral Health Tracker ( https://bit.ly/2Pdq0YR ).

05.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW Elephants have 26 teeth! Their tusks are their incisors, 12 deciduous premolars and 12 molars.... Unlike most mammals, which grow baby teeth and then replace them with a single permanent set of adult teeth, elephants are polyphyodonts that have cycles of tooth rotation throughout their lives. The chewing teeth are replaced six times in a typical elephant's lifetime. Teeth are not replaced by new ones emerging from the jaws vertically as in most mammals. Instead, new teeth grow in at the back of the mouth and move forward to push out the old ones.
