01.01.2022 A 23-year-old Mount Gambier man has been arrested following a crash at Mount Gambier's main intersection today. J...ust prior to the collision, police attempted to stop a blue Hyundai on Alexander Street. It's alleged the driver failed to stop and sped away from police. Emergency services were then called to the intersection of Commercial Street and Bay Road with reports of a serious crash involving the Hyundai, a Ford Falcon and a Ford Focus. The driver of the Falcon - an 86-year-old Mount Gambier man, the driver of the Focus - a 40-year-old Mount Gambier woman, and a passenger of the Hyundai - a 30-year-old woman - were all taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses reported the driver of the Hyundai had fled the scene. He was arrested at a nearby address shortly after and is expected to be charged with fail to stop, dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, fail to stop at scene of crash and drive disqualified.
