23.01.2022 A new year is coming! This means there are new opportunities to change certain attitudes, habits and behaviors that may be hindering your progress and getting in the way of achieving epic results. Here is a list of unhealthy habits, attitudes and behaviors you should leave behind in 2020: 1 Restrictive eating patterns: this isn’t always the smartest approach especially if your goal is to lose fat or achieve body re-composition ... 2 Demonizing food: rather than looking at foods with moral value (good vs bad) see them in a spectrum from less to more nutritious 3 Always living with a diet mentality: try to put more nutrient-dense plant foods on your plate, add more protein more frequently 4 The "all-or-nothing" mentality: Make Room for Everything in moderation 5 Food shaming: if you aren’t following the trends: Feeding yourself is enough work without the added guilt that you're not using organic berries in your smoothie or you accidentally bought the peanut butter with hydrogenated oil in it 6 Not celebrating small wins: celebrating small wins is huge! 7 Eating mindlessly and in a hurry all the time: STOP & slow down! Bring intention! Be present when eating your meals 8 Not having a figure it out attitude: as things won’t go as planned all the time, so stay committed to your goal but be flexible with your approach 9 Ongoing war with meal prepping: keep it simple! Not getting professional help when needed: having the right support keeps your goals top of mind, redirects you when old habits start slipping back up, inspires you & holds you accountable What are you leaving behind in 2020? 23.01.2022 With the rest day last Sunday today brings up 10 actual days of pushups and a total of 1616 so far. Bringing it to over the half way point! Feeling better with each set and able to do more per set each day . . MENTAL HEALTH FACT... Around 1.80 million Australians over the age of 15 feel they have insufficient social support, and one in four of us are feeling lonely three or more times per week. The impact of loneliness and social isolation can stretch beyond the short term and lead to increased risks of developing mental and physical ill health. Loneliness doesn’t necessarily go away if we are surrounded by people. In fact, young Australians report the highest rates of loneliness, despite often being in contact with large numbers of people every day at school, university, or work. For improving feelings of loneliness, quality is more important than quantity. Some experts suggest volunteering or joining a local club to create opportunities for building meaningful relationships. And who says all relationships need to be with humans? Companion animals can provide emotional support, and owning a pet has been linked to greater social contact with other people too. . . @pushforbetter #pushupchallenge #pushup #pushupseveryday #pushupsfordays #pushups #chesttofloorpushups #feeltheburn #workout @headspace_aus @headspaceadelaide #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #itsokaynottobeokay #speakup #fundraising #challengeyourself #challengeyourlimits @krusaders.army @krusadersfitness @krusaders.brand #krusadersathlete #ambassador #sponsoredathlete @fnx_fit @fnx_ambassador #teamfnx #riseup

19.01.2022 Took quite a few sets to get this big total done today. 220 chest to floor pushups to finish off week 2! . . MENTAL HEALTH FACT Your 220 push-ups today are for the 2.20 million Australians that have been affected by intimate partner violence. Intimate partner violence contributes to more illness, disability and deaths than any other risk factor for women aged 1844 years.... Research indicates that among Australian women who face a high degree of intimate partner violence, almost 90% will experience mental ill health during their lifetime. If you need assistance for intimate partner violence, you can call 1800RESPECT. 19.01.2022 Challenge complete! Every day, every push-up, every target. It has been amazing to have completed this challenge for the second year in a row for me and awesome to have completed with our team this year . . MENTAL HEALTH FACT Today’s target is 105 push-ups: It’s possible that getting 15 minutes of bright sunlight each morning could reduce levels of mental distress. 15 minutes, 7 days...that’s 105 minutes of sunshine per week! There are a lot of factors that could be at work h...ere to make sunlight a mood booster, including effects on your circadian rhythm, Vitamin D, or just being outside- getting into nature for a few hours per week can also help out your mental health. Whatever the reason- just be sensible! 16.01.2022 Nice and easy 125 for today. Need to leave something in the tank for tomorrow... the biggest day of the whole challenge. 232 pushups tomorrow!! . . Get behind this great cause and donate if you can: https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/pushuperer/10501 .... . MENTAL HEALTH FACT The glycaemic index is a value assigned to foods based on how slowly or how quickly those foods cause increases in blood sugar levels. Researchers have discovered that the low GI foods, which give us more stable blood sugar levels, can be useful for moderating our moods. In one example of a trial investigating the link between diet and mood, participants who stuck to a low-GI diet, with a glycaemic load of less than 125 per day, reported lower mood disturbance, fewer depressive-type symptoms, and lower levels of fatigue. Some examples of low-GI foods include sweet potatoes, multigrain bread, and basmati rice. You can find out more about the GI index and access a GI calculator here: http://www.glycemicindex.com/ https://www.gisymbol.com/ . . @pushforbetter #pushupchallenge #pushup #pushupseveryday #pushupsfordays #chesttofloorpushups #challengeyourself #challengeyourlimits @headspace_aus @headspaceadelaide #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #raiseawareness #fundraising #fundraisingforacause #itsokaynottobeokay #fitness #nutritioncoach #glycaemicindex

14.01.2022 Another day crushed! Relatively easy going today with 130. I would love it if you could consider donating to the amazing crew at @headspaceadelaide by donating on my link below: https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/pushuperer/10501 . .... MENTAL HEALTH FACT The Push-Up Challenge 2020 is supporting headspace. headspace provides no- or low-cost mental health services to young Australians aged 12-25. They can also help young people with their physical and sexual health, provide information and support around alcohol and drugs, and give assistance with work or study. Around 75% of mental ill health presents before the age of 25, and suicide is the leading cause of death in the 15-44 age group, so the mental health of young Australians is of huge national importance. 11.01.2022 Spending some time levelling up my nutrition knowledge to deliver even better coaching for my clients into the new year

11.01.2022 If you want to look lean, try to push yourself to do a little more than last time. That might mean doing 1 more rep or lifting 5 more pounds. This works best with big compound lifts like squats, deadlifts, and lunges. ... And try to focus on the mind-muscle connection (feel the muscle working). Other than that, eat lots of protein, get plenty of sleep (or as much as the kids will allow), and most of allstay consistent! You’ve got this!

11.01.2022 It really is this simple. If you aren’t doing these things consistently, then don’t look at doing anything else until these are a regular habit for you.

10.01.2022 Start right NOW! Make EVERY day count!

09.01.2022 Taking coaching to another level! Learning and growing so I can deliver better content and coaching for all my amazing clients and followers

09.01.2022 Decided to get stuck in and pump out today’s target nice and early. 4 sets of 30 reps chest to floor got this target completed nice and easy Oh and a three in a couple of flex shots for #flexfriday . . MENTAL HEALTH FACT... This set of 120 push-ups represents the 1200 hours an average Australian young person spends on social media per year. That’s over 3 hours per day. The relationship between social media and mental health has generated a lot of concern. While there is some evidence that too much social media can increase stress, it’s not all bad news. In a UK study, young people who were online for at least 120 minutes per day felt more connected and supported by their peers. For people experiencing mental ill health, numerous peer-to-peer support communities have formed online that can increase connectedness, allow for sharing of stories, and promote a sense of belonging. Additionally, more mental health services are becoming available online. As our online interactions become a bigger part of our daily life, it is important to make sure our time online is spent in a positive way. Some tips for making sure you use your time for good can be found here: https://www.beyondblue.org.au//6-tips-on-how-to-use-social . . @pushforbetter #pushupchallenge #pushup #pushupseveryday #pushupsfordays #pushups #chesttofloorpushups #challengeyourself #challengeyourlimits #pushforbetter #pushforbettermentalhealth @headspace_aus @headspaceadelaide #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #itsokaynottobeokay #fundraising @krusaders.army @krusadersfitness @krusaders.brand #krusadersathlete #krusadersworldwide #krusadersfitness #krusaderslifestyle #ambassador #eliteathlete #sponsored @fnx_ambassador @fnx_fit #teamfnx #fnxambassador #fnxfit #fnxsupplements

07.01.2022 Second last day of the challenge completed! Feels great to have almost completed this challenge for the second year now and be helping out @headspaceadelaide . . Please consider donating if you can to help me reach my goal and help our team reach our total goal.... https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/pushuperer/10501 . . MENTAL HEALTH FACT People with a diagnosis of mental illness are at much higher risk of physical diseases such as diabetes, lung disease, cancer and heart disease. This is likely due to a number of factors, including the side effects of medications used to treat mental ill health, higher rates of cigarette smoking and alcohol use, focus on mental health treatment rather than physical health, and the social isolation and stigma that can accompany mental ill health. In Australia, this has contributed to a large life expectancy gap between those with severe mental ill health, and those without a similar diagnosis. One study estimated this gap at 16.4 years for men with a severe mental health diagnosis. Others have suggested that there could be up to a 30% reduction in total life expectancy- that’s over 20 years. . . @pushforbetter #pushupchallenge #pushup #pushupseveryday #pushupsfordays #chesttofloorpushups #challengeyourself #challengeyourlimits #challengeyourbody #fitness #upperbodyworkout #pecs #triceps @headspace_aus #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #itsokaynottobeokay #helpsomebodytoday #fundraising #fundraisingforacause

02.01.2022 Biggest target of the challenge knocked off! After a busy day managed to smash out all 232 push-ups with chest to floor every rep in under an hour . . Really feeling the muscle tension after that effort! ... . . MENTAL HEALTH FACT Of the 3046 push-ups you or your team are completing this year, 2320 of them represent men who lost their life to suicide in Australia in 2018. That’s over 75% of the total. Women experience mental health issues at higher rates than men, but men are less likely to seek help for them. Some spaces within our communities exist especially to support the mental health of the men in our lives, like the Men’s Shed. Men’s Sheds provide open workspaces where men can socialise, work, or help out their communities.
