25.01.2022 Early days but looking good so far.

22.01.2022 WHY SELECT FOR INCREASED MUSCLE IN YOUR HERD? I'm often asked why I talk about increasing muscle scores in beef herds. The simple answer is increased return...s for cattle. Today I looked at NLRS reports for Tamworth to see the reported difference on Yearling Steers (400kg) at Muscle Score C (average) and Muscle Score D (Below Average) Heres the graph. The difference for same weight, same fatness is vast! Effectively a $1/kg difference.. Next here's the Dubbo Graph, and you can see the last report it was $1.30 difference.. So as a quick value proposition at the last Tamworth sale, a 400kg C muscled (average steer) is worth $1,552 vs a 400. kg D muscled (below average steer) $1,152. Thats $400. I'm running the numbers for a few clients ahead of bull selection and choosing replacement females. My decisions and advice will be based on capturing those increases for those businesses. If you want a hand to do the same, send me a message and we can go through your herd as well.

16.01.2022 Blonde X at 10 months. Would have made a good led steer had the shows not been cancelled.

15.01.2022 It is week 5 of our 5 week series as we highlight the many quality traits seen in Blonde D’ Aquitaine cattle known as, The Blonde Advantage. Week 5: Feed conv...ersion Blondes are unsurpassed in feed efficiency. In feed lot tests they consistently convert feed at the rate of 5.3-6.5 pounds of feed per pound of gain. Typical feed lot performance for other breeds is more like 7.5-8.5 pounds feed/pounds gain. Blondes are hardy foragers and readily convert low grade forage to efficient gains. It is not unusual for Blonde calves to gain 3 pounds per day on milk and good grass.

14.01.2022 Limpinwood Ripp at 4 months. His mother is doing a great job. Sired by Vermeil.

12.01.2022 The paddocks are a little light on but the girls are hanging in there. 30mms of rain last night which may green things up.

10.01.2022 It is week 4 of our 5 week series as we highlight the many quality traits seen in Blonde D’ Aquitaine cattle known as, The Blonde Advantage. Week 4: The Blond...e Cross You will notice increased calf growth rate and Blonde conformation; length of body; well developed muscling, finer bone structure, and reduced external fat cover, on the first cross. Additionally, many commercial breeders use Blondes as a terminal cross in their beef cattle operations. Crosses with Angus, Brahman, Brangus, Brown Swiss, Charolais, Hereford, Santa Gertrudis, Shorthorn and Simmental are common. One successful breeder/feeder says he thinks a Simmental/Angus/Blonde cross is an ideal feedlot animal. Blonde/Angus crosses have been used by some breeders in an attempt to produce a polled Blonde Purebred.

09.01.2022 It is week 3 of our 5 week series as we highlight the many quality traits seen in Blonde D’ Aquitaine cattle known as, The Blonde Advantage. Week 2: Efficient... production of lean red meat Feedlot and carcass tests consistently show superior feed efficiency and a low fat to lean ratio for Blondes and Blonde crosses. Blonde meat marbles, is tender and tasty but does not carry excess external fat. It is unusual for a Blonde to have more than 0.2-0.3 inch of external fat. The breed’s remarkable length and highly developed hind quarter and loin produce a higher percentage of the more valuable steak and roast cuts. These characteristics are well recognized by feeders, packers and butchers. Take a look at the results of a recent independent study conducted by an experienced cattleman. You're seeing a 305 lb difference in carcass yield from 2 animals raised identically, side by side their entire lives and live weights within 15 lbs of each other!!! That's money in your pocket and a huge savings for your buyer! #blondedaquitainecattle

01.01.2022 Blonde sires are used in many dairy herds usually to enhance carcass traits of subsequent calves and increase producer returns. The blonde breed known for its ...calving ease is a popular choice. Pictured here are Poll Blonde bulls with genetics from well known Blonde studs e.g. Biriwa, Renard, Rahnik and Rupari in their DNA.
