01.01.2022 The Fair Work Act 2009 has been amended to change rights and obligations for casual employees. The changes came into effect on 27 March 2021. For national system employers this means: * A legislated definition of a casual employee has been introduced which addresses the exposure to employers of casual employees "double dipping" on entitlements.... * Some employers will be obliged to offer eligible casual employees permanent employment after 12 months. * Employers must give every new casual employee a Casual Employment Information Statement. * If you are a small business employer (fewer than 15 employees), you need to give the Casual Employment Information Statement to your existing casuals now. Non-small business employers have until 27 September to do this. Need help with navigating these new amendments? Call us on 9841 1200.
