25.01.2022 I just wanted to share....

25.01.2022 I have always thought that someone who makes an appointment is very brave. They have recognized the need to make some change and are taking the appropriate steps toward accomplishing it. All my patients have my admiration.

24.01.2022 Yes this COVID situation is lasting a long time. We all feel it, it’s so important to practice self care. Remember this won’t last forever, yes there are restrictions but to save lives how difficult is it to practice them. Be safe. Stay safe

23.01.2022 Self confidence is something we can all use, with it comes the confidence to stand up for your own point of view, to be assertive. Look in the mirror each morning and reaffirm your belief in yourself wit a positive affirmation.

23.01.2022 Christmas is mixed feelings and emotions and can be joyful or stressful. Make a conscious choice to take control , of how you feel,

22.01.2022 Good Morning, worry is a really natural reaction to change, and the changes we are all experiencing at this time are momentous. However, a good point to remember is this; Ask yourself - Am I doing everything within my power to manage this situation? if the answer is yes, (and that means following all the Health Departments instructions and guidelines, self isolating, keeping the safe distance, washing your hands and surfaces etc.) then worry will do absolutely nothing. Then try to put that energy into a more positive action. Look at what you can do not what you cant. Stay Safe and Stay at Home.

22.01.2022 When you have a goal or your trying to solve a problem break it down into small steps. Then you have an achievement to be proud of for each and every step.

22.01.2022 Love yourself everyday

21.01.2022 take a moment and breathe slowly, calmly no matter where you are. exhale stress and inhale peacetake a moment and breathe slowly, calmly no matter where you are. exhale stress and inhale peace

20.01.2022 Hoping that you are all doing really well and not letting this Corona Virus create too much havoc in your lives. Acceptance is often described as passivity, but its not really, if we accept what is in place for our safety and our families safety that is really positive. Of course we all think we could do it better than the government, but realistically Australia has done remarkably well. I am proud, really proud of everyone I know who has maintained the precautions, even when very difficult. As I read recently, I would rather spend 6 weeks in isolation than be 6 feet under. Things are looking up, restrictions will be eased sensibly and we will be able to be with our loved ones and our friends and return to our workplaces albeit a little differently perhaps. Stay strong and stay safe.

19.01.2022 Hello everyone, hope your all using this time to get in touch with your own personal needs and particularly your emotional needs. Sometimes it can be as simple as sitting in the sun and closing your eyes and breathing. Other times it might take more direct skills such as meditation, yoga, writing in a journal, speaking with your therapist online or practicing some of the homework skills you have been given in the past. Breathe in slowly through your nose hold for a second then slowly exhale through your mouth. Practice practice.

18.01.2022 Please look at who you are and remember your pretty amazing.

16.01.2022 Please remember you are not defined by any Mental Health Issue.

15.01.2022 Hello everyone, I thought this was an excellent piece of advice......

15.01.2022 This came up on my Community page today and I thought it was excellent.

14.01.2022 Please be aware of what has been happening on social media lately. I am not being alarmist, I just feel it is important for us all to be aware so we can protect our children and ourselves. URGENT MESSAGE! It has come to our attention that a graphic suicide has been posted (and gone viral) on several social media platforms. The video shows a bearded man wearing glasses sitting at a desk before the disturbing footage.... This was first live streamed last month, but has been shared recently on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook. Footage appears to be most visible on TikTok, due to algorithms (and children love TikTok!) Unfortunately, all these platforms have been unable to effectively/completely halt the spread of this footage, meaning it may still be circulating right now- on your child or teenager’s device. If you are a parent, be extra vigilant with your children’s social media usage. This kind of content can be extremely distressing for anyone who sees it. If possible, set passwords, restrict internet settings and monitor their access. In the internet age, it’s not always easy to prevent children from accessing content- therefore it is important to communicate openly and encourage them to talk. Ensure you provide support if they have already seen the video. It is vital that they feel safe to debrief this incident with someone. Share this message to help others. **If you or a loved one needs immediate support, please contact: Lifeline 13 11 14 Kids Helpline 1800 551 800 Act For Kids 1300 228 000 #Urgent #ProtectYourKids #InternetSafety #Warning #SuicideAwareness See more

13.01.2022 These are really helpful comparisons

12.01.2022 Listen to yourself and if you hear you putting you down by using negative self talk, say STOP. Change the language be your own champion.

11.01.2022 13th March 2020 Vital information for Patients of Linda Holland, Psychologist. Dear Patients,... Some of you have been concerned that if they are self isolated or diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus their psychological sessions support could be interrupted. This is not the case. The government today issued Medicare rebate item numbers to cover Telephone consultations and /or SKYPE, Face Time or other video conferencing sites. This is for Vulnerable/isolated patients as outlined below. This means your appointments will all be able to be met and you will not have an interruption to your therapy. Vulnerable/isolated patients are those where at least one of the following apply: (a) the person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 virus but who is not a patient of a hospital; or (b) the person has been required to isolate themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC); or (c) the person is considered more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus being a person who is: (i) at least 70 years old; or (ii) at least 50 years old and is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or (iii) is pregnant; or (iv) is a parent of a child under 12 months; or (v) is already under treatment for chronic health conditions or is immune compromised; or (d) the person meets the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection. A health professional at risk for COVID-19 means a person that: (a) has been diagnosed with COVID-19 but who is not a patient of a hospital; or (b) has been required to isolate themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee. I do hope that this information allays any concerns or fears you may have, but if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me. Kindest Regards Linda Holland.

10.01.2022 Be patient at least your trying

08.01.2022 Self care and self love ate so important to a healthy mind.

07.01.2022 Thought this was really cute and great advice. In Psychology this would be called Looking at the glass half full, no half empty. No matter what try to focus on something good out of a situation it helps in dealing with disappointment and despair.

07.01.2022 The breathing is first as it is the most effective. Try counting 7 in through nose and 9 out through the mouth. Picture a balloon blowing up as you inhale and as you slowly exhale the balloon deflates.

06.01.2022 Good Morning, I have a small mindfulness meditation for you, lets try it.... Relax your face from the top of your head down to your chin and jaw. Let go of each facial muscle (forehead, eyes, and brows; cheeks, mouth and tongue; teeth slightly apart) If you have difficulty, try tensing your facial muscles and then letting go. Now let both corners of your lips go slightly up, just so you can feel them. It is not necessary for others to see it. A half smile is slightly uptur...ned lips with a relaxed face. Try to adopt a serene facial expression. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly.....repeat this.......until you feel relaxed. Remember, your face communicates to your brain, and your body.

06.01.2022 Mothers day can be very difficult for some people, for those who are lucky enough to have their Mothers'with them thank your lucky starts. For those of us who dont it can be a very painful day. I think this quote is really special.

04.01.2022 I just love this. It’s so true. Our thoughts can be very heavy, destructive and a great burden. Try to challenge those negative thoughts with looking for another way to think about the same situation. Your in control then.

02.01.2022 Sometimes we use coping skills that do not really help.

02.01.2022 This was on my Facebook page and I thought it was so appropriate. So read and follow

02.01.2022 So many people are getting stir crazy and bored so thought this might give you some ideas to stay active. Try to think about just how much we will treasure and value those things we have always taken for granted, like visits to family, having coffee with friends, swimming, playing with grandchildren when this is all over. It will be over. Stay safe now.

02.01.2022 Christmas can sometimes be a very difficult time for some people who are depressed, lonely, sad or grieving. I thought that if we all try to reach out to someone who might be struggling and offer support and love then we get back boundless joy from these actions. Wishing all of my wonderful page followers and patients the most blessed of Christmas joy and happiness. Remember that as long as your trying as long as your learning your growing. Best wishes for peace and happiness for 2020.

02.01.2022 Recently I have worked with some very sad and grieving patients. All different and varying losses. As a therapist my role is support initially and explaining grief both the short and long term effects. Grief is never, ever easy however with time, support and patience we can learn to live with the grief. In my opinion you don’t stop ever missing that loved one, but the pain of 5he loss becomes less invasive and intense.
