24.01.2022 Patupaiarehe. Night fairies, (he iwi aitua) that reside in the bases of the kauri tree. They are seldom seen but are sometimes heard with the hypnotic bone carved flute called the koauau. Their skin is porcelain white and they sport green eyes with ochre red hair. They despise fire and abhor cooked food. My book has a flock of night fairies that reign from a rain forest called 'Wairere'. Their dwelling is in a place between the heavens and earth. Look out for my book launch date. #RiseofTePura
23.01.2022 I have been reading that the gift is not in accolades, it's in the process to obtaining your goals. During my process of writing my book i have experienced really high moments and alot of lows. You can get push back, doubt about your dreams, dismissal of your passion and alot of second guessing. In my life, i have never been so sure of something. I have learned alot about the process of publishing but moreso, i have learned alot about myself. flaws and all, i will succeed.

16.01.2022 This is my wharenui. A wharenui is an ancient meeting house of your tribe. It is the most important of all structures on the marae and resembles the features of a human body. My wharenui doesn't have the ancient carvings that a "usual" wharenui would posess. This is due to the fact that some cheeky boys from my p stole the eggs of a taniwha (sea serpent) Her name is Te Pura. As reperation she took the carvings from my marae with a warning that we shall never have carvings on... our marae ever again. As a token of appreciation that she never retaliated against my people, we agreed to be custodians of the river she resided in, if she reciprocated the gesture as our acting kaitiaki. This is how she is known as Te Pura the guardian taniwha of The Wairoa river. Thus is the basis of my novel "Rise of Te Pura". #maorimythology #maorifolklore #maoriauthor #ngatikau #wairoamarae #tauranga #Tepura #wharenui See more

11.01.2022 My river "Wairoa" plays a significant part of my novel. When I was a little girl I was told stories that there was a taniwha who lived in the awa who would always look after us. When I was a teenager probably 13, I went to the river every day for a week from about 7am-5pm with my cousins. We swam, sang, explored the river, dreamed, climbed trees and imagined having a camera to take stunning photo's. My love for my river runs deep and we have great respect for it. I have inc...luded an excerpt below, my main character explains his feelings towards his river to his new "ipo" "This river is yours, my people are bound to this river, it is our source of life, food, healing and fun. We take care of it and it will always take care of you. Am I a custodian? she asked, Well if you are bonded to me then yes, you are a custodian. You are are also nobility now, those people at the p, my people, they are your people now. We are whanau, family. - Linda Rahiri
10.01.2022 At the moment i am really into podcasts. Podcasts are basically an audio that an individual will post pertaining to a topic of their interest. I usually listen to established authors that write in my genre, but today i wanted to listen to a podcast in Te Reo Mori. There are none , this therefore puts me in a precarious situation. Do i start one and take my time away from my book, or do i continue on my journey and establish one at a later time? I also logged online to sou...rce potential funding for this book as costs can get quite expensive. I don't fit the criteria. Although i am tangata whenua reigning from Ngati Kahu ki Tauranga moana, due to the fact that i live abroad, i am not allegable. Dependant on the funds that this book May raise, i will dedicate myself to encouraging and growing literacy, especially within the mori domain. An open scholarship for someone that is dedicating their life and time to establish their writing. I also want to release a podcast showing everyone how they can market and publish their book. This is not a rant just a realisation.
10.01.2022 Kia Ora everyone. I am currently self editing my 74,000 word manuscript for my young adult Fantasy Novel which is also speculative fiction. I am looking for Beta readers to start 1 July 2018, What is a beta reader? A beta reader is a non-professional that will help me read my manuscript and provide feedback on every chapter. If you would like more information please private message me and i will send you an email. This is a excerpt of my synopsis: "If only I had known what... misfortune stealing the taniwha eggs would bring. We never know how quick our life can change, until everything we love is robbed from us. I’m learning now, I am wiser. I am no longer just a chief’s son. I am no longer just an elite warrior, I am Maui, Matakite o te Ao, companion of my kaitiaki Te Pura, the guardian taniwha of the Wairoa river. I was prophesized to do great things, therefore, great things I shall do. As a mischief boy, I stole a sea serpent’s eggs, as a man I will return them to her and I will stop at nothing until I do this, to avenge Te Pura and to avenge my people." 09.01.2022 I have taken a break from my life for 3 weeks for some much needed rest. I have worked really hard for years and i think it all caught up with me recently. Among juggling writing, i have work commitments, sport commitments, study commitments and i have a family that rely on me financially. It has been great to unwind and recharge. This weekend i will post material to my beta readers. Although i have had an unexpected hiatus, i am ready to getback into creating and writing again. Your emails will be answered and i will be back into the grind. #hiatus #workbreak #recharged #energised
01.01.2022 I have only just seen this development. I can see the benefits of the bridge for tourism as long as the river is respected as it should be.
01.01.2022 This is another excerpt from my book picture credit Te Haunui Art. ...I thought that was it. I thought that I had finally met the end of my existence on Papa. Then with a blink of serendipity, I saw her, the ponaturi. Her face was ghostly white and her eyes were as blue as the sky. Her fleshy brown tail resembled that of an eel and wriggled towards me. She reached out for me gracefully extending her hand as if she were dancing. She pulled me towards her and pressed her lips... up against mine. Her hands were cupped on my face and I felt a gust of air fill my lungs. She slowly backed away from me and smiled. Bubbles were forming around her as she smiled a wondrous smile at me and dragged me by the hand to a place underneath the awa. I went deeper into the river she kept swimming at a steady pace. The movement of her tail was hypnotizing. Every now and then she looked back at me to see if I was still with her. Just when I thought I would black out from the lack of air, she turned back again and locked her lips on mine and I felt air fill the insides of my lungs. - Linda R Author #ponaturi #maorimythology #siren #seamaiden #mermaid #nymph #maorifolklore #Tepura #ngatikahu #wairoamarae ##Taurangamoana
