24.01.2022 We've been working on the ECM project for a few months now. The home, designed by @ursinoarchitects, has undeniably beautiful bones for us to layer with classic detailing, rich materials and contemporary furnishings. This palette perfectly embodies the modern yet approachable family living we’re channelling. Currently under construction, due for completion just in time for summer.

23.01.2022 So this week has been a big week... I’ve moved out of home! Well LHD has...into a stunning @laporte_space creative suite - sharing a design studio with two incredible human beings @alixhelpsinteriors and @anniebowendesign Three designing women (yes I am referencing the show from the 80’s) sharing, collaborating, growing our individual practices supporting each other - women supporting women! (A shout out to some of our design/art colleagues who have inspired us to take the ...plunge...you know who you are). Many of you know that my mantra is the #joyofhome. This rings truer than ever, because as LHD moves forward and out of home, I pay tribute to what my home has gifted me. To name a few; - a career in design, - the absolute best training ground in building and working with trades, - a deep empathy for my clients and their journey (the highs and the lows) and, - most importantly a place that nurtures my souls and gives me joy. So with a heart full of gratitude for the journey so far, I look forward to the next chapter of LHD and the possibilities that lie ahead.

19.01.2022 LHD Loves Art I Justin Dingwell Every so often I stumble upon exceptionally creative and beautiful works that make me want to dwell further into the artistry behind the image. This work of South African photographer, Justin Dingwall, is no exception. Justin is a commercial photographer and contemporary artist. His calibre of work includes high-end editorial and advertising, as well as his own series of photographic fine art prints.... Upon looking deeper into his profile, I noticed the many layers to his artistry. A rare creative freedom is evident in his expansive portfolio. Every image is not only beautiful but purposeful, in it's content and in evoking meaning and emotion, inspired by nature, culture and the great painters of the past. Layered with collaborators in exquisite styling, make-up artistry and costume design, Justin's work is a masterpiece of layers waiting for your eyes to unravel. This piece is from the series 'Fly by Night'.

13.01.2022 In lieu of the Joy of Home event I held at the end of last year, I was keen to organise another special occasion to mark the end of 2020. As an ambassador member of the MCA I was lucky enough to be able to organise a private viewing for an intimate group of women, of the latest exhibition by Lindy Lee 'Moon in a Dew Drop'. We had the honour of having the MCA director and curator of the collection, Elizabeth Ann Macgregor OBE, personally guide us through the works. Elizabeth's... longtime friendship with the artist and the knowledge behind the curated pieces of work, meant that we got a personal insight into the many layers and meanings which make up Lindy's body of work. It was a special experience and I loved being able to share something so close to my heart. If you haven’t already, do yourself a favour and drop into the MCA to see the exhibition. And for those wanting to expand their world and minds - join the MCA ambassador program - it’s the single most fantastic thing I’ve done in the last couple of years.

13.01.2022 LHD Monday Mantra in the wise words of Master Matisse.

12.01.2022 Loving the new campaign for @armadilloandco, their new rebrand and style additions to an already beautiful collection of rugs. Armadillo rugs have been our rugs of choice for many of our past projects. The quality is beautiful, the rugs are versatile with interesting textures, yet somehow they are also subtle on the eye, hence why we love to include them in many of our interior schemes. Beautiful campaign guys @armadilloandco

11.01.2022 The Powder Room is one of my favourite spaces to design. My clients know it’s my pet peeve to have a shower squeezed into a powder room so I always hide it behind a nib wall to disguise it. The powder room is a space where you have permission to go bold, add some drama, colour, wallpaper, a mosaic tile wall. And don’t forget to add beautiful lighting (the jewellery). We are working on some beautiful powder rooms on our projects, can’t wait to show them as they come to life.... Photo by @_katlu

11.01.2022 I have been a fan of @thebalconygarden pots for some time so I was thrilled when the opportunity arose for me to offer my home as a canvas for them to style and photograph their products. I'll share with you some of the beautiful imagery from the day. Here is the first. What a wonderful Australian brand and a pleasure to work with too! Thank you so much Belinda and team for this wonderful collaboration.

08.01.2022 Never before has it been more important to support our local product designers, artisans and makers. If Covid has taught us anything it is to value each other and collaborate. To celebrate the incredible rich talent we have in our country, LHD will be curating our Australian Edit of the brands we love and work with. To kick things off, we start with the incredibly talented Grazia Materia, founder of Grazia & Co. We recently specified their amazing stools (as seen here) for on...e of our projects. The attention to detail, the design and the amazing service is second to none. Check out our stories and highlights for more details about the brand. #australianmade #supportlocal

06.01.2022 This bespoke pendant by Melbourne lighting designer @giffindesign was installed into the foyer of our Henley House earlier this year. We love working with clients who share a common passion to support our local Australian artisans.

06.01.2022 LHD Meet the Team | Ania Ania was the first team member of the LHD family. In our time working together we have formed a strong bond based not only on our mutual love for design but also on shared personal and professional values. Ania understands my aesthetic and approach to client relationships just as well as I do. She is a creative whizz, making all our presentations look like magazine worthy publications but is equally as good at finding just the perfect piece for our interior spaces. She’s also pretty amazing at social media. We are so lucky to have her.

06.01.2022 Monday Inspiration Musings on Colour One of the projects we are working on this week is a vibrant colourful home, reflecting a fun, vivacious and art devoted client. We're sourcing inspirations far and wide to understand the influence and impact of colour. How the mood of a pared back palette can be altered by an injection of colour. Much like this rather pale, staged interior space, which is lifted with a pop of yellow, a stroke of green and comforting orange. Image is via... @mullervanseveren, Belgian duo Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen. Both are artists therefore it’s natural that their collection sits somewhere between design and art. The couple's designs, although carefully considered in the areas of product design, materiality and space, look as if they have been drawn with crayons in space. Their creations are globally identified in both private homes and public spaces. Slide across to see their 'Alu' Chairs in Palazzo Clerici, Milan. 06.01.2022 LHD LOVES | Gubi Pacha Lounge Chair, designed by legendary French designer Pierre Paulin in 1975. Paulin designed the chair in harmony with the changing design style of its period, replacing the austerity of post-war design with a new, vigorous approach. With comfort as the constant starting-point in Paulin’s designs, the curvaceous, whimsical and organic shapes of the Pacha Chair is conceived to serve the body, providing both comfort and cosiness. Looking as contemporary today as when it first was designed, the Pacha Chair is an honest, functional piece that brings life and character to any interior setting.

05.01.2022 This moody, sophisticated palette was inspired by @newageveneers 'Collingwood'. Selecting and assembling materials is one of the highlights of the interior design process. It allows us to 'play' with colours and textures to develop a complimentary palette. And it is the best feeling when we can visualise the scheme coming to life in an interior space!

05.01.2022 Your home is your refuge, it is a place that nurtures your soul and elevates your spirit, so make choices that stay true to your soul and represent your values as a person. Remember, it’s about the joy of home. ~ Linda Habak Design To read more from my recent chat with @thebalconygarden see link in profile. Thanks again forthe feature.

04.01.2022 LHD I Inspiration When it comes to architectural details, the arch is a beautiful feature that brings tremendous resonance of history, and more recently, new-found appropriateness in the world of interior design. From colourful Moroccan-inspired doorways, dramatic front doors, carved crescents into built-in shelves or framing quaint seating area, an arch goes a long way in elevating a room’s aesthetic impact.... Some are period elements, used to connect rooms in homes built centuries ago, and others are man made features meant to add charm and character to an otherwise plain space. We love the home of Catalan sculptor of Xavier Corberó. Layered archways in the exterior structure, give way to a labyrinth of elaborate and playful forms on the interior, with poetic reflections of light permeating the rooms through the arched octagonal windows. 04.01.2022 Perfect evening for dinner on the terrace. Wishing everyone a good weekend... It’s starting to feel like countdown to Christmas and the holidays. Although I can’t get too comfortable with this thought just yet, as there are still some all important projects to wrap up beforehand. All my favourite pots by @thebalconygarden

04.01.2022 Looking forward to zooming in with @cultdesignau to the Space Copenhagen &Tradition @andtradition presentation, live from @3daysofdesign in Copenhagen’. It’s never been more important to find ways to inspire and stay connected within our professional and creative lives.

04.01.2022 The octagonalglass conservatory remains one of my favourite spaces to date. It was architecturally designed by @campbellarchitecture to mirror the staircase of the original sandstone cottage. It was imperative to pay tribute to the original heritage building by enhancing its presence, not overwhelm it. The brief to Hugh Campbell was exactly that. Working together we referenced this small but significant detail. As a designer, I oftensay that ‘the space tells you what it needs’. Some of the best ideas evolve from being present in the space and leaning into intuition - always trust that inner voice, in life and in design.

02.01.2022 Flashback - A sneak peek of Abbotsford House from our photo archives. This project holds a special place in my design journey to date. In fact I am itching with anticipation to have it professionally photographed. Working on this project has truly given me a platform for creative freedom thanks to the wonderful home owners, who have a great appreciation for design and craftsmanship. Collaboratively we have carefully considered every decision and celebrated the outcomes. It is truly a magnificent home that reflects the wonderful style and personalities of the owners.

01.01.2022 With two new projects underway this week, we are in full design mode - scheming, sketching, sourcing and having fun in the process. #findyourjoy
