22.01.2022 Hi bowlers. I promised I would update you all on the status of the green. I have some good news, and some not so good news. The Good news is that the green treatment appears to be working, and has been applied again this morning. The Bad news is that the green will remain closed whilst this treatment takes effect until at least Saturday 23 May 2020. I appreciate many of you are itching to get back on the green, (as am I) especially after Daniel Andrews announcement on May... 11, however the treatment of the green, and getting it back to top form, is the main priority for the club presently. If the circumstances change, and we can get back earlier, I will advise you as soon as possible. Regards, Simon

18.01.2022 Thank you to Neil Dalrymple, CEO of Bowls Australia, who visited our club today. We received some valuable insights into what Bowls Australia are currently doing, and the great things that are planned for the future. It was also a great opportunity to discuss the impacts of drought, bushfires and now Covid-19 on clubs throughout our region. See the interview on WIN News tonight!

17.01.2022 Such a great day at our club Christmas party and presentation day. Congratulations to all the winners, and Merry Christmas to everyone!

17.01.2022 In case you missed the documentary on the weekend.

16.01.2022 Hello Bowlers, I am glad to announce that Lindenow Bowls Club in East Gippsland has been selected as a host venue for this years BPL Cup! So what is the BPL Cup? The Bowls Premier League Cup has been running for 12 editions now and is an opportunity for club based teams to compete against other clubs in a 2 bowl triples format, just like on TV.... But there is a difference! Teams play 2 sets of 5 ends each against each opposing team. Each Team has the ability to have a sub player available, and the best part is that each team can play a Power Play each set. A full guide on the format and more details on the above, can be found here: https://www.bowls.com.au//07/BPL-Cup-Competition-Manual.pdf So if you think you have what it takes to be a part of this great competition, which could win you a paid trip to the National Finals at Club Pine Rivers in November 2020, then register your team below by following this link: https://www.bowlslink.com.au//1e8449af-92a7-41cb-b39e-172b Obviously the event will be subject to any Covid-19 related restrictions.

15.01.2022 Carn the Cockies

15.01.2022 Attention all bowlers, Yesterday, the Premier, Daniel Andrews announced relaxing of some restrictions in relation to how we interact, and specifically there was mention of relaxing the restrictions on community sporting practice. Bowls Victoria have just released the following advice specifically relating to the measures we need to put in place for returning to the greens (Advice below in link). Before we get into the how, lets talk about the when:... At this point the green is still being vacuumed and treated, and may be treated as early as tomorrow (13 May 2020). So at this stage the green is still Closed. The Greenkeeper will keep me updated on progress, and I will update you all accordingly. So once we have the green light forgive the pun, this is how we will manage the return to the green: Given that we will not always have a member at the club to monitor that there are no more than 10 people on the green, we are going to apply a common sense approach. This means that if you are intending to go down for a roll, as a courtesy can you please notify your fellow members on the app in the chat section of the app, or notify myself via messenger or text message and I will insert it into the app. Please also advise of time / date you are going and if you are playing with another person. In short, we need to ensure that no more than 10 of us are at the club at any one point in time, this includes spectators. So: There should not be any more than 10 members at the club, including spectators. The poster below will be positioned around the club, please read it. If you attend the club you MUST fill out the attendance register - which will be placed in the Bowls shed with the trolley. Hand sanitiser will also be in the trolley. Obviously, if you havent notified anyone, and there are already 10 people at the club then you will have to turn around and go home, as spectators are also not permitted. 10.01.2022 Hi Bowlers, Its been some time since I last touched base, so I thought it would be good to deliver some good news (for a change!) Im pleased to announce that Bowls Victoria have advised that the BPL cup at Lindenow is looking to be held towards the end of November, with the date sill yet to be confirmed. The State finals have also been tentatively listed for January 2021. The link below also shows you what the current status of bowls is Australia wide:... https://www.bowls.com.au/covid-19-latest-bowls-specific-gu/ The Bowls Show is also broadcasting a Special Edition episode, focusing on their road trip earlier this year (of which Lindenow Bowls Club were a part) #TheBowlsShow Special Edition Premieres on Sunday, September 13, 3:30pm nationwide on 7TWO Trailer here: https://www.bowls.com.au/thebowlsshow-special-edition/ The buzz from Premier Dan Andrews is that regional Victoria could move two steps (In the Road to Recovery Plan) in the coming week or so, due to our low average of cases, which possibly means good news for bowls: Step 3 (https://www.vic.gov.au/third-step-coronavirus-road-to-recov): "Outdoor contact and non-contact sport for people aged 18 and younger, outdoor non-contact sport only for adults, with gathering and density limits, outdoor skateparks open, outdoor fitness for groups of 10 people". So Fingers crossed, but lets not get ahead of ourselves! Anyway, hopefully we should know more this Sunday 13 September. Stay safe, and Ill hopefully see you on the green....soon.

04.01.2022 A letter to all our members and visitors. In late March we had to unfortunately close the club due to lockdown and social distancing requirements. This involved cancelling or postponing many of our events, trips and tournaments, which I am sure you are all as sad as I am about. In addition, as part of our essential maintenance program, in the last day or so a treatment was applied to the green surface by the greenkeeper. So for your own safety and to protect the green, and if... by chance you are out and about doing your essential exercise, please stay off the green. This is to hopefully ensure that the green is ready to roll on when we all return to the new normal. In saying this, I thought it would be great to update you on recent events. ---> Division Closure You may all be aware by now (hopefully you have been reading the documents I sent on the app) but as of 30 June 2021 the East Gippsland Bowls Division will cease to exist, and Bowls Victoria have mandated that we will now move to being governed at a Region level. To simplify it: There wont be an EGBD or an NGBD anymore, but one board at a region level. Pennant and state events will still operate and function as normal, however it wont be called the EGBD or NGBD, but called the East and North Playing areas. The region board will be made up of both EGBD and NGBD existing members. Bowls Victoria will assist divisions in the transition, with some Victorian divisions transitioning by 30 June 2020 - this year (Optional). Full details and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document are available on our App. And if you need any more info, dont hesitate to contact me. ----> AGM and Presentation day 3 May 2020. As you are aware all events have been postponed or cancelled. We will still be having our AGM and Presentation Day, however it has been postponed to a later date yet to be determined. We are all awaiting the time when social distancing requirements are relaxed, and when we have more information on this I will update you, and a new date will be set. For the time being do not hesitate to lodge your nominations to myself. You can do this via text or email given the circumstances. ----> Returning to the New Normal. Following such a successful season (the greatest season in our clubs history!), Im sure you are all sharing my enthusiasm and desire for that day that we all get to drop a mat on the line, pick up a bowl and deliver it for the first time in months. I expect we are all going to be a bit rusty, however I believe the cockie spirit will define how we return as a club after this crisis, and how we always work together to get the best outcome for the club. We are still the fastest growing club in the division for a third year running, and I am so very proud to be member of this club. Heres to hoping that we will be back on the green as soon as possible. Yours sincerely, Simon Alleaume Secretary Bowls Division Lindenow Bowls Club
