25.01.2022 Great story in today's Mercury about our long-time member Pam. What a legend!

24.01.2022 Who could resist a tasty morsel from the BBQ when the chefs are so well turned out? These masterful rowers cooked 20 dozen eggs, 11kg of bacon and countless snags for the hungry crowds at today’s Dragons Abreast Corporate Regatta. What an output. What team!

24.01.2022 Protocols for Return2Rowing released LRC has issued strict protocols for the return of rowing club activities . These protocols are posted around the boat shed. and also available for download at this Dropbox link. https://www.dropbox.com//ovwki5/AAAhenzSTppReE9yAtfDwBaXa

23.01.2022 Not only did we do plenty of rowing we also had the opportunity to do some bush walking along the Gordon as well. Trevor was brilliant, a real character and a font of knowledge whether it be the history of the piners, the west coast in general or anything navigation. The whole trip was a constant history lesson. Trevor is a Victorian who came to the west coast of Tassie 30 years ago and just didn't go home. Here's a little of Trevor in action (with a bit of humour) and we'll further post some photos that will include St John Falls.

23.01.2022 Our crew has returned home from Hong Kong with a 15th place in the A final. With over 35 entires in the quad the guys were pleased to finish in the top half of the field. Team captain, stroke and the driving force behind the campaign, James Cowley said it was a great experience, very tough as the harbour was a washing machine. Its a totally different format to what we are accustomed to but imagine doing this on the Derwent if would rock !! Quite a few Australians were interested spectators at the regatta so watch this space on the future of coastal rowing in Oz. Well done LRC on being the first Australian crew to take on this venture. Go the TWO BLUES !!

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Pete Holloway who represented Lindisfarne Rowing Club (LRC) and Tasmania at the recent Australian Masters Rowing Championships (AMRC) in Perth WA. It was 17th time that Pete has rowed for the state: Penrith Cup (7 times), Kings Cup (1) and Masters (9). In the 2019 Masters Games medals tally, LRC was ranked 19th among more than 85 clubs and we had just three rowers Pete, Jackie Hope and Jill Johnstone. A tremendous effort! Jill and Jacqui rowed the pair and Pete teamed up with Michael Wilson (Ulverstone), Tom Wilcox (TUBC) and Patrick Bird (NERC). Pete is looking forward to coaching at LRC in the coming season.

22.01.2022 LRC recorded the fastest time in the quad at the Kirby Cup. Well done, Nick Silcox, James Cowley, Justin West and Alex Thompson.

22.01.2022 Before we put up our closing post here is one last video which we accompany by a quote from Thomo that we felt was quite poignant and summed the whole experience up quite nicely. "A sense of place is more important than ever right now. So fortunate to have been able to set and meet the epic challenge of rowing the length of @tasmania's Gordon River with a group of committeed mates (whose experience just happens to span Australian and Tasmanian representative rowers as well as... some of last years World Coastal Rowing crew), right here in our beautiful state. This years challenge looked very different to any "normal" seasons event. We set it ourselves, and there was no one there to witness it but our own reflections. Despite the lack of crowd, medals or officials, we all agree it's one of the best - if not the best - rowing experience we have ever had. Thanks to all who supported us in this once in a lifetime* experience (*or perhaps the start of something completely new). @rowingtasmania @rowingaustralia " See more

22.01.2022 LRC AGM 22 Sept 2020

20.01.2022 Looking good !!!

19.01.2022 Congratulations to Jacqui Hope, the club's top-performing rower for the 2018-19 season. Jacqui crowned a very successful Tassie regatta season with a fabulous performance at the Australian Masters in Perth: 13 medals, including 5 gold. Jacqui also shines in the coaching arena, a true asset to our club. All the best this season to Jacqui and the coaching team, the rowers and the new committee.

19.01.2022 Once we hit the Franklin we had to row back to the Stormbreaker which was tied up at St John Falls. For the last 500 meters we put Trevor and Rob in the boat in part to thank them for their hospitality and for being fantastic hosts.

17.01.2022 A story from the ABC https://apple.news/AFR5vL6PXSa2WfGtfs0FIkg

17.01.2022 A great effort from Lindisfarne to finish 2nd in the Kirby Cup just failing to catch all but one of the out markers in the handicap event. The crew of Fin O'Neill, Dylan Taylor, Will Jackson and the experienced Phil Hutton carved their way through the field with the help of Jill Johnstone in the coxswains seat. The boys were up beat after their row and already talking of areas for improvement. Coaches Pete Holloway and Cam Crighton were happy with the first up effort and looking forward to getting into the season proper. Go the TWO BLUES.

15.01.2022 Back to the start and rigging the boat on the promanade at Strahan

14.01.2022 Time to hit the water. Trevor the owner/skipper of the Stormbreaker (our home for the next 2 nights) and his deck hand Rob make their way into Macquarie Harbour

11.01.2022 Who could resist a tasty morsel from the bbq when the cooks are so well turned out? These wonderful masters rowers cooked 20 dozen eggs, 11 kg of bacon and countless snags and served them up to the hungry masses at today's Dragons Abreast Corporate Regatta at the LRC. What an output! What a team! Thank you lads.

10.01.2022 Congratulations to Lindisfarne member Sam Beltz for his induction this week into the Tasmanian Sporting Hall of Fame. Sam was two-time Olympian (Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012) and a member of the Australian rowing team for 15 years. He was part of the Australian world champion lightweight four in 2011. Another Two Blues rower doing the club proud.

10.01.2022 There is a sandbar right at the mouth of the Gordon. Good place to stop for a crew change but James insisted it was line out time. Our legs were fairly smashed after Macquarie Harbour so our spring had sprung. As rugby players we make far better rowers, no wallaby call ups here. Time to get back into the boat and into the Gordon River.

09.01.2022 The start of day two and big Thomo took the keys to get us underway. This is the leg we were looking forward to and we wanted today to be memorable, where the beauty and tranquility of the Gordon River would shine through. We weren’t disappointed it delivered in spades !

08.01.2022 A few snaps from St John Falls and Goulds Landing

08.01.2022 LRC has representation at the World Coastal Boat Rowing Championships being held this weekend in Hong Kong !! The crew of Justin West, Tristan Goc, Alex Thompson, James Cowley and steered by Sam Bedenach sent though this snap of a training row out on the Hong Kong harbour. Our crew is the only representation from Australia at the championships. The heat is rowed tomorrow with the finals on Sunday. Good luck guys and have fun !!

07.01.2022 Can't beat an early morning paddle in a big boat !!

06.01.2022 We all absolutely love Lake Barrington but this was just next level. The Gordon dressed up in its finest and we were lucky enough to be invited to the dance. The images it provided, the reflections it cast commanded our respect and we were happy to oblige. Through it’s sheer remoteness it’s easy to understand why it forms part of a World Heritage area. On to the mouth of the Franklin we go....

05.01.2022 Due to COVID-19, the Lindisfarne Rowing Club has suspended on-water rowing and use of the gym and function centre (including the bar) until further notice. The club wishes its members and supporters good health during this period of uncertainty. Stay fit and keep tuned in for Facebook updates.

05.01.2022 Night 2 was spent at the jetty at St John Falls. A look at the weather forecast for the next day meant that it wouldn't be possible to row back across Macquarie Harbour to Strahan. The jetty was the best opportunity we had to derig and split the 8 so this is what occurred and we loaded it onto the bow of the Stormbreaker. As we steamed out of the Gordon the next morning it gave us the opportunity to relax and take it all in. Once into Macquarie Harbour it became very clear we wouldn't have made it back (rowing) to Strahan so the right call was made.

03.01.2022 We have had a number of questions from the rowing community in Australia around COVID-19 and rowing. As of 20 March 2020, we put together this video to help ans...wer some of those FAQs. Please remember to keep across your relevant Federal and State Health Departments' announcements and also the AIS website. Stay healthy, stay well and look after each other. www.health.gov.au www.ais.gov.au

03.01.2022 LRC Annual General Meeting 2020 @ 6:30 22Sept

02.01.2022 We are into the Gordon and approaching the end of day one. Punched out about 60km for the day and we are still moving fairly well decked out in our special edition Piners zoot suits

02.01.2022 We made it !!! In this series of photos you will see an extract from one of Trevor's information references which shows where the proposed dam wall was to be constructed. Note the little island at the bottom right of the photo, this is where the Gordon meets the Franklin and this is where we parked the 8 and celebrated our accomplishment. The photo taken from the bow side of the 8 clearly shows the Franklin in the background. Another shows Nick who had the coxswains duties at the time looking towards the Franklin and wondering how we were going to navigate the gap (there was a bit of flow on at the time). Anyway we succeeded and did what we set out to achieve and that was to row from Strahan to the Gordon and into the Franklin.

02.01.2022 A group of masters rowers from the Lindisfarne Rowing Club embarked on a journey to become the first "skinny boat crew" to row from Strahan on the west coast of Tasmania across Macquarie Harbour, into the Gordon River and the World Heritage listed area, and then into the Franklin River. A passage in the order of 90km over 2 days. Along the way we were treated to many learnings about the unbelievable endurance and resilience of the west coast Piners and to the horrific conditi...ons met by the convicts on Sarah Island. The quest being for the iconic Huon pine. The age range of our squad is 31 - 60. From the front row left of the first photo is David Palmer, Peter Holloway, Aaron Midgley, second row, Justin West, Tom Wilcox, Rob (Stormbreaker deckhand), David Banks, Phil Hutton, Nick Silcox, Alex Thompson, James Cowley, Kim Morgan, with Trevor (skipper of the Stormbreaker) at the back. We wish to thank Trevor and Rob for assisting us with this journey (nothing was to much trouble for them), the combined effort from the guys in the organisation of the trip, and of course the Lindisfarne Rowing Club for allowing and supporting us in our endeavour to do this trip (and we had no damage). Finally to those who have taken an interest and followed the snap shot of our journey on social media we hope you have enjoyed it. Be sure to "like" the LRC page who knows what we might get up to next. We can assure you that we packed a lot into a couple of days and the memories it provided will stay with us forever. The other shots being dinner on the Stormbreaker and lastly the photo we simply title "Reflections" Regards from the Lindisfarne Masters....Cheers!! See more

01.01.2022 Merry Christmas to LRC members and supporters See you at our Christmas BBQ from 6pm Thursday 12 December... Thanks to Helen Howarth for her gorgeous festive hamper. A ticket in the Christmas raffle could win you this lovely prize!

01.01.2022 Some pics of our night one anchorage on the Stormbreaker on the Gordon River. We felt very privileged to be in such a majestic environment.....day two beckons.
