19.01.2022 This week the creative team have arrived for Philip Glass' The Perfect American - there's lots of action in wardrobe and we've begun dance rehearsals in the studio. Meanwhile the Boheme tour is moving northwards through regional Queensland - last night we had a fantastic show on the Fraser Coast and I'll be flying up to Rockhampton for the stage rehearsals tomorrow and show on Saturday night. It's been such a fantastic journey. One of the heroes of the tour is the show's Assi...stant Director, Jason Barry-Smith, who has been at the vanguard of the tour, rehearsing each of the community choruses into the production with seemingly infinite patience, warmth and incredible attention to detail. Much of the success of Project Puccini has been in his hands. His vast experience as a performer makes Jason the perfect coach, and he NEVER seems to lose his cool. I love this shot of Jason and Guy at one of those rehearsals, sharing a moment of silliness....one of many! See more

18.01.2022 End of week 2 of the Brisbane season and at tomorrow's matinee we'll present the fabulous Rouge cast complete with Emily Burke as Mimi and Annie Lower as Musetta. The Rouge cast gents have already performed on Tuesday night. Here's Virgilio Marino as Rodolfo and Guy Booth as Marcello. Meanwhile, the excitement is building in the regional centres as Jason Barry Smith takes the community choruses through the Act 2 staging.

17.01.2022 OK it's been a while - but we're now on the road with our beautiful Boheme. We opened on Saturday night on the Gold Coast to two completely full houses, with our first community chorus - the fabulous Gold Coast chorus, who did their community, OperaQ and Mr Puccini very proud! Congratulations to them all, and thanks to our Gold Coast for your warm welcome! Here are some pics of the final rehearsal on the GC - I love the one with Guy Noble in the pit!

17.01.2022 Opening Night of Boheme on Saturday night - a terrific performance and the first of 21 performances in Brisbane and across regional Queensland! So now we're off and running with this beautiful, joyful and fresh production. For those of you who can't see it, here's a glimpse...

05.01.2022 Great show last night in Ipswich, and some more nice news today for OperaQ and Dancenorth. Our quirkily beautiful contemporary dance/baroque opera co-production ABANDON has been shortlisted for Oustanding Achievement by a Company in the forthcoming 2014 Australian Dance Awards! We're in great company, alongside co-short-listers The Australian Ballet, Chunky Move and Sydney Dance Company. Looking forward to celebrating at the Awards event in Sydney in November with my ABANDON co-creators Raewyn Hill and the amazing classical accordionist James Crabb. Here are some ABANDON images....

03.01.2022 Emily Burke (Musetta) and I were at the ABC at Southbank this morning talking about Boheme with Steve Austin. We couldn't resist the B1+B2 moment...
