24.01.2022 This article was shared by one of our colleagues on a certain forum for translators. The ''Guardian'' wants to know when you are lost in translation. We have submitted our response stating that there are some Russian words such as 'toska' (roughly means 'sadness') which could be difficult to translate. On the other hand, there are also English words, for example epistemic adverbs (obviously, apparently, etc.), which could be tricky for translation into Russian because these two languages do not share the same understanding of epistemic modality. 16.01.2022 I've just read that this week is a NAIDOC week. For my non-Australian readers NAIDOC stands for the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. We celebrate achievements and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is a very important day for all Australians. My congratulations to my colleagues who translate and interpret from and into Aboriginal languages as well as Meriam Mer, Kala Lagaw Ya, and Yumplatok.
