Banks rely on what they see on this report, and if they can see that you repay your debts late, they wont want to know you. Luckily, its pretty easy to keep this report clean. NAB have a handy tool called NAB credit health check. It will give you an idea of your score, and whether youve got any gremlins in your financial basement. Have a quick google of it. ... 19.01.2022 Most people dont realise this, but if you go to a bank for your home loan, it doesnt get assessed in the branch at all. It gets sent to the same team that us brokers send all our loans to. Its also not more convenient, you end up supplying the same documents you would to a broker anyway. The Australian Banking Association has announced that youre not going to get a hit on your credit report in the event that you need to defer your mortgage payments for 6 months under the current COVID relief scheme. Ordinarily, something adverse on your credit file would stick around for 5 years or so. It was up in the air as to whether asking for a break was seen as an adverse event. ... The reason that this is great news is that those people who really need a repayment break can now do so without worrying about it haunting them for years to come.
