13.01.2022 Press Release - LUNCHBOX: Lunch is on us. Need help with the kids lunches during school holidays or while schooling from home? What about your own lunch? Maybe an elderly relative or neighbour? In response to Covid-19, The Link Community Care will fill your lunchbox for free.... So whats in your LUNCHBOX? Director of The Link Community Care Glenn Wysman said it was important to ensure the lunchbox was healthy. We consulted local nutritionist Kelly Richardson, and as a result weve decided to pack the lunchboxes with a sandwich, a drink, a piece of fruit and a snack - or two. Mr Wysman said theyve also put in place provisions to ensure they abide by the strict rules governing social distancing and travel during Covid-19. We will be making it as safe as possible for those wanting a LUNCHBOX by providing a drive through service, so people wont have to leave their car. Our drive through lunch centre is located at the Pittwater Sports Centre, 1525 Pittwater Road, Narrabeen, which is opposite the park where we typically stage Carols by The Lake and Eggs by the Lake. Each LUNCHBOX will be sufficient for one person, although families will be able to collect extra lunch boxes to ensure no one skips lunch. The Link Community Care LUNCHBOX Program commences on Wednesday 15th April and will be available Monday to Friday from 11am to 2pm as long as the need continues. A gold coin donation would be gratefully accepted but is not essential. If you would like to support the Program, Mr Wysman outlined several options. You can donate at www.link.org.au/community-care/ You can also drop off non-perishable grocery items to the Pittwater Sports Centre which will be packaged into hampers to help those in our community in most need. We also need volunteers to help pack and deliver the LUNCHBOXES. The Link Community Care will also be offering a home delivery service for the most vulnerable & the elderly who are unable to leave their home. These are unprecedented times, said Mr Wysman. But one thing I know about the Northern Beaches, is that we are a very supportive community and together we will get through this season. I would also like to acknowledge those whove come on board to help us run this program. 09.01.2022 GIANT NORTHERN BEACHES EASTER EGG HUNT Easter celebrations at the The Link Church usually include Eggs by the Lake at Narrabeen, typically with thousands attending, hunting for over 10,000 eggs. We have some GOOD NEWS for the children on the Northern Beaches (young & old)! Although we are in isolation at the moment, we still want to join together as a community and create an Easter Egg hunt across the Northern Beaches.... Simply PRINT and colour or decorate the official Eggs by the Lake ~ Easter Egg cleverly designed by The Links @rubie.studies, and pop it in your window for other children to find and see. You might see some in your street or when driving through the Northern Beaches (for your essential outings)! How many Eggs will you see? We would also like to see your design, simply post them on social media with your suburb listed and #thelinkeggsbythelake and post/tag them on our facebook pages: Link Events & The Link Church, Sydney, Australia. On Easter Sunday evening at 6.00pm we will go live on The Link Church, Sydney, Australia facebook page and show the most creative top 10 and present an Easter hamper to the most creative from the Northern Beaches entries. 03.01.2022 The Link Community Care (TLCC) has a strong and proud history of helping those on the Northern Beaches in most need. Our Foodcare program has been running for almost 10 years and has regularly provided hampers to between 70-80 families a week. TLCC was officially opened with a red ribbon cutting by our Mayor Michael Regan from Northern Beaches Council all those years ago. The programs snapshot is this: - 1264 families registered for the program.... - 23,520 Hampers distributed. - 1000 Christmas Hampers distributed. - 100 Gift meals distributed fortnightly. - Launched a Mobile Food Van Service in 2016 - Education events into Schools Now, because of COVID-19 the need for our services has grown exponentially. What has been a once-a-week service is now headed to a daily service. The Link Community Care will be launching a COVID-19 Foodcare Response Program; to assist those in need during this time in addition to our regular program. While we rely heavily on our valued volunteers to run these programs, our services are about to be stretched to unprecedented levels. Its vital we maintain this service, the need on the Northern Beaches is greater than ever, so our goal is to raise support dollars to ensure the success of these programs to assist those facing hardship because of COVID-19. Our experience over years of running the Foodcare program shows that once the programs are up and running with initial seed funding and donations from the community they should fund themselves, together with grants received throughout the year but we need a kick start. Your support in funding this project will be a blessing to those on the Northern Beaches whove been affected by Covid-19. We will release what the program will be in a matter of days. If you would like to donate now you can do so via this link https://link.org.au/community-care/ or via the link below. If you want to assist with supply of staples please direct message us. If you want to be the first to know what the program is and how you can access it - make sure you LIKE this page and we will be announcing very soon the details. Share, Like, Forward and let make a difference on the Northern Beaches for those who are suffering..Why? Because People Matter.
