02.01.2022 Our Community Nurses are out in the Alice Community everyday taking care of our participants complex care needs. Here at Linkup Australia we value our nurses greatly! Meet one of our invaluable community RN's - Lesley ... About You: I was Born in a place known for The Queen City of the South- CEBU and I grew up in Semirara Island part of Luzon, where my father work as an electrical engineer in Coal mining. I experienced living a beautiful and simple island life away from big cities. I am married, and I have a 5-year-old beautiful daughter who is staying in the Philippines with my lovely parents due to the pandemic. I got my first job in Toledo City General Hospital as a Registered Nurse and then in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a Nurse at Prince Sultan Military Medical City where I worked in the Maternity and Nursery Department for 4 years. I studied a Bachelor in Nursing at Charles Darwin University and attained AHPRA registration in 2018. During my study I worked in 3 different facilities within Aged Care and Disability Services. I lived in Darwin for more than 5 years before moving to Alice Springs in 2020. Im enjoying being able to experience a different, exciting, and challenging field of my Nursing profession in a community setting here in Alice with Linkup Australia. What is your Role? Registered Nurse What is the best thing about your role? It is rewarding when I make positive connections with participants I support and most rewarding when I get a smile from my participants when working in my role. What was the most challenging? Being a nurse is demanding, physically, socially, and intellectually. Developing a trusting relationship in the first instance can be a challenge. What cool stuff do you do in your spare time? I do DIY projects with recycled stuff. I spend time with my daughter through video call every day. I am a nature lover and am always excited strolling around beautiful places around me with friends and family. If you could change the world what would you do? Peace and harmony. No money involved and everyone got access to everything such as food, education, jobs and most especially health. That everyone will be given equal treatment and there will be no discrimination. Respect and a happy life every day for everyone.
