24.01.2022 This is a picture of me about to squat 230kg I hadn't squatted it yet but I'd already squatted it many times in my head Your mind is always the strongest muscle in your body. Your mind goes first, then your actions and finally, your body will follow. So...you want to be strong? You're going to have a really hard time if you keep seeing yourself as weak. You want to lose weight? Well, you're going to have a really hard time if all you think about is how fat you are. Wa...nt to be injury free? 11.01.2022 Something different...Paused Deficit Deadlift - The purpose of the pause is to test and improve positioning, improving technique. The better your positioning, the easier they will be, if your positioning sucks, they'll be reeeeaaaally hard. Adding the deficit means I can pause right where my normal starting position is, hopefully improving my positioning and strength off the floor in my deadlift - I haven't done these before, so I started light. 09.01.2022 Shout out to client @soyagram_ progress since gyms have reopened - These photos were taken 3 weeks apart. The difference is, the left was taken before we got back into a strength training program - Abbey trains with a focus on technique and she trains to be strong. But as you can see, it's also having a dramatic effect on her physique! She doesn't do any specific cardio training, eats about 2000 calories a day and never leaves training feeling exhausted every training d...ay has a specific purpose with exercises, load and volume to achieve that. 07.01.2022 Got grip issues??? Give this a go... - Deadlift holds with Fat Gripz (you could use an axle bar, which would be more badass though) - Choose a weight that you can hold for 10 seconds and do 5 sets with 60sec rest in between sets. Remember how long you could hold on and next session try to hold on for longer ... - These are a great way to increase grip strength for the deadlift because of the obvious similarity in movement and the ability to get some effective grip work in with very submaximal weight, so not causing unnecessary fatigue. 06.01.2022 Warm Up Pretty boring stuff but pretty important if you want to stay healthy and feel/move better during training So this is what I do, you can too ... -Body weight squats x10-15 -Hip airplanes 2x5 each side -Scorpion Curls x20 -Cat/Cows x10 -Bird Dogs 30sec each side -Plank/side plank 3x10sec holds -Goblet Squats 3x5 -Dumbell RDL 3x5 -Just the barbell 2x10 I used to do stretches and foam rolling too but I get hardly anything out of either and I'm limited for time so I focus on the things that I get the most benefit from. 04.01.2022 Torch Press - In the midst of all the pressing and pulling we do, reaching is one movement that often gets left out. - The serratus anterior is a stabiliser of the scapula and is strengthened through reaching (scapula protraction) exercises like this one. Scapula push ups or a Landmine Press are others ... - If you've heard of winging shoulder blades or have shoulder instability, a weak serratus anterior could very well be the cause. 03.01.2022 At some point in your training, you're going to get too damn strong to hold onto that bar when you're deadlifting you've got a few options though you could stop adding weight to the bar (worst choice) use lifting straps (ok choice) use a mixed grip (better choice) or...
