23.01.2022 The Lions club of Kangaroo Island together with the Lions club of Western K. I. are grateful for the financial support of all clubs in our Zone and generous donations from other clubs and donors to support our fire recovery.The donation from Australian Lions Foundation of a Munro post driver and use of a tractor supplied by G &J East .Kadina is enabling Blaze Aid to continue the huge task of replacing a massive amount of destroyed fencing,.Our club priority is helping Blaze Aid and their magnificent volunteers ,some have been on the island since February ,and their organisers Greg and Anne Stevens from the beginning of the recovery.

21.01.2022 Thanks to Kingscote Lions for donation of a Public Access Defibrillator - now located next to the Kangaroo at Vivonne Bay General Store with Vivonne Bay General Store And Bottle Shop and John McEvoy.

19.01.2022 The Lions club continues to provide free items for fire affected persons ,and has an array of goods that will be offered to the general public on Friday 12thJune,and will be posted on the mart site tomorrow,if affected people need items contact Rohan 85532663,Bevan 85530165,John0427545367 before they are advertised.

17.01.2022 Most of thefamilies that have lost houses have also lost sheds so have nowhere to store donated goods,perhaps the first priority is for accomodation and cover to enable those devastated to live on the properties and have shelter.Anyone who has a caravan to lend or sell could be useful ,small shelters ,also. We need to support local businesses to supply many of the Island's needs so they can be viable,so donating to the Mayor's Bushfire Appeal helps all of K I. The bank details are BSB105 .094 ACC 035 680 540. The funds will be distributed and managed free of charge.

17.01.2022 Stephen and Lucy Morgan did a power point presentation at our dinner meeting of their 6 months on a hospital ship off Papua New Guinea. They took their 4 children with them Stephen drove the ship from Townsville and back visiting dozens of villages around the coast. It is a converted cruise ship with 4 tender boats to take doctors and nurses ashore each day. The ship was called YWAM and we saw an excellent video on the work being done in PNG.

16.01.2022 The speed of fire recovery seems slow due partly to asbestos and other cleanup problems,but help is slowly allowing affected people to get back on their feet,there is still a need for temporary accomodation now the weather is cooler,and any spare caravans for temporary use would be appreciated,also Blaze Aid need the use of a few utes preferably 4wd. to take their trailers to the fencing sites each day.
