22.01.2022 Well - another happy Meeting last night for our Club and we had the pleasure of inducting yet another new Member - Brooke Jackson. Brooke is well versed with Lions as she also works at Lions Licola Wilderness Village - and to show how keen she is, she drove down after work and then headed back up there after the Meeting. Welcome Lion Brooke. Pictured with Brooke is President Lion Geoff Brick and Sponsor Lion Carol Kavanagh.

21.01.2022 At this time we must remember Kindness Matters and also remember if you need a helping hand - Lions are always there.

21.01.2022 Sunday was a lovely day as our Lions Members, Partners and friends walked around Hyland Lake as part of the Lap of the Map to raise money for Diabetes Australia, 19 walkers enjoyed the walk (last day of the Project) followed by a BBQ. Altogether we managed to walk a total of 2460 klms., and raised $510.00. A great fun effort.

20.01.2022 What a wonderful job four of our Members did yesterday helping to clean up the Lifeline Op-Shop in Churchill where sadly much - mostly useless stuff has been dumped and needed removing so the shop could re-open. Lions Bob Christie, Reg Grisotto, Robin King and Ross Norman spent most of the day there and as always did a wonderful job, here they are with the first load ready for the tip - well done guys.

20.01.2022 Good Morning to all our Lions, families and Friends. Yet another week goes by and we hope that everyone is keeping well, keeping safe and staying home. As always there is light at the end of the tunnel so all we can do is Hope that this is going to be over sooner rather than later. Please remember those that may need a hand, those that are elderly, those alone and those who wont ask. Reach out and offer that help, it can still be done while keeping that social personal distance.

19.01.2022 It's sad to write this and advise that we have had to postpone our Family Fishing & Fun Day. Due to situations caused by COVID we have been unable to get the Permit in time to run the Fun day this month - HOWEVER - we have already picked another date - when the weather should be awesome - Sautrday 27th., February 2021. Please put that date in your diary and come along to have a Family Day of FUN!

19.01.2022 Another busy day for our Lions as they headed up to Licola for another Working Bee (just in time before the restrictions came back in) Lions Reg Grisotto, Robin King, Ross Norman, Peter Savage and brand new Member Kevin Wanless spent the morning making all the running boards to enable them to cross the roof of the stadium safely - this was then of course followed by a traditional luncheon bbq-up courtesy of Chef King!. They even took the old Rally car for a drive! Another job well done guys.

19.01.2022 Lions Annual Changeover Dinners - normally a fine dining evening with our Partners, our Lions friends from other Clubs and many Guests! However this pesky thing called COVID has put a damper on many things like that - however - it didnt dampen the spirit of the Lions at Churchill! Last night we held a low key Changeover BBQ Meeting, (conforming to all the COVID Rules and Regulations) to install the Incoming Executives and Board for 2020/2021.... Please welcome our Incoming President Lion Reg Grisotto as he is handed the Gong and Gavel by our Outgoing President Lion Geoff Brick. We wish President Reg a very busy and successful year and thank IPP Lion Geoff for everything over the past year..

18.01.2022 Remembrance Day : 11am., 11th., November, 2020. We Remember.

17.01.2022 LIONS SPONSORED CAMPS UPDATE: It is with a very heavy heart that I write this, with the developments in COVID-19 restrictions over the weekend, we have made the... decision to cancel the upcoming sponsor camps. At this stage we are unsure of that the future has in store, so we are unable to reschedule dates at this time. We appreciate your understanding at this difficult time. Stay safe & healthy and please help to look after the vulnerable members of your community.

09.01.2022 Below is a beautiful photo of a Mum Shailea & toddler Winnie. This photo was taken when Winnie came home from hospital but it could have been a whole different story - please read on. Last year on 23rd., November the family Keith, pregnant Shailea and all the kids, were having a great day working in their garden in Jeeralang, when suddenly in the blink of an eye Winnie disappeared. The garden gate had been left open. The whole family took off in different directions until ...Shailea found what no Mother should ever find, her baby face down and lifeless in the dam. Paramedics were called, the air ambulance flew them to the RCH, in all Winnie was dead for a total of 48 minutes. Thanks to the quick actions of the parents, the paramedics, the air wing followed by the amazing work of the Medical Staff at the RCH Winnie was saved and although it's been a long rough road, the family are now back home with Winnie in perfect health, suffering no after effects and with a gorgeous new baby sister Hazel. *** This is a condensed version but it sends a strong message that both Keith and Shailea want everyone to listen too - please do not take your eyes off of your little ones, not even for a few minutes - because that's all it takes - a few minutes - Winnie's story is proof of this and luckily - living proof. *** See more

09.01.2022 LEST WE FORGET Although we cannot attend the Services we must all still remember how much this day means, share in the Driveway Candle Service and Remember.

08.01.2022 Slowly things are starting to get moving again! Take last Thursday for a start - our Lion Reg Grissoto acquired some steel ladders, so after they had a few alterations some of the Members (Lions Allen Kelly, David Lyne, Peter Savage & Peter Tait) got together and took them up to Licola where they secured them to Stadium wall. This will make the job of keeping all the new solar panels clean much easier and safer - job well done guys!

08.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW......................Lions collect used postage stamps, reading glasses and bread ties? These are projects that provide walking frames for children that have cerebral palsy and wheel chairs for children. Lions Recycle for Sight Australia is part of the Lions Clubs International Worldwide Eyeglass Recycling Program, the glasses are refurbished and sent over to third world countries that would never be able to afford glasses. DO YOU have any old glasses lying aro...und not needed? CAN YOU take a few seconds out to save postage stamps and bread ties? If yes - when you have some that need collecting or you can drop off - please send a message here to the Lions and we will organise either pick up or drop off for you. Thank you. See more

07.01.2022 Good Morning and welcome to another week in Isolation - I thought it was time for a little light humour to give everyone a laugh heading into the weekend. Lions in Australia have a Cookbook at only $5.00 with great home cooked recipes sent in by Members - now my warped sense of humour just loved this one from the Alice Springs-MacDonnell Lions Club : CAMEL STEW- CENTRALIAN STYLE : ... 3 medium sized Camels. I tonne Salt. 1 tonne Pepper. 500 sacks of Potatoes. 200 sacks of Carrots. 3000 Sprigs of Parsley. 2 small Rabbits. Cut Camels in to bite sized pieces (should take about 2 months). Cut Vegetables in to cubes. Place meat in pan and cover with 4,546 litres brown gravy and simmer for 4 weeks. Season to taste with Salt and Pepper. Finally garnish with 3000 sprigs of Parsley. This should feed 3,807 people. If more people are expected add the two small Rabbits. Do this ONLY if necessary as most people do not like Hare in their Stew!

05.01.2022 Now that you have read the story of Winnie, Lions became involved from a FB message sent by a friend of the family to our FB page. We became involved in many ways but our last task was one the Lions guys took great pride and joy in completing : a strong solid fence around the dam that no one could get through. These are a couple of photos of a work in progress and the result, with just some of the Lions Members who took part in the erecting of the fence.

04.01.2022 Hello to everyone and we hope you are all safe, well, still staying home and taking care of each other. A few weeks ago I put up a post calling for children who are 11, 12 or 13 years of age by 15th November and attend any of the following Schools : Churchill Primary, Churchill North, Hazelwood North, Lumen Christi. This was regarding the Lions Peace Poster Project. You paint/draw your own idea into a picture - please note it is not a colouring in competition- it is your own... picture. The theme this year is : "Peace Through Service". I was thrilled at the response and thought Id just mention it again - in case you missed it - and also post here the World Winning Poster from last year 2019 for you to see. If your still not sure about it please contact by either : an email to me at - [email protected] Leave a message here or phone me : Lion Carol 5182 6995 or 0411 842 912. ** If you do not have any kids yourself and you know of any, or your a grandparent etc., please pass this message on as not everyone reads this page or is on Facebook - Thank you! See more

03.01.2022 Congratulations to our Lion David Cranwell! In 2017 Lions celebrated 100 years of Service, during that year special badges were awarded to Members who introduced a new Member to the Club (things got a little delayed in the USA - thus we just received it) so at our Meeting on Wednesday our President Reg Grisotto presented the badge to a very surprised Lion David. Smiles and Congratulation from all of our Club Members.

03.01.2022 Today : 10th., August, 2020 is World Lions Day. I know were all in a difficult situation - but - food for thought, when were all back to getting around freely again - how about joining our Lions Club here at Churchill? Friendship, fun, projects, outings and importantly - helping your local Communities, so while you have time to think, leave a message and we will answer asap or give us a call to get all and any questions answered : Secretary Carol 0411 842 912 or President Reg : 0407 513 556! Come join our Pride and be Proud to be a Lion.

02.01.2022 Bushfires - remember them way back end of 2019 into 2020 before COVID-19 took over the headlines? Well in East Gippsland the small amount allowed to gather together from Blaze Aid are still there quietly working away and Churchill Lions are still doing the same - this week one of our Members Lion Al Kelly took up a trip to hand over loads of items that were needed and Churchill Lions had purchased. Lion Al is pictured here with a sample of goodies being handed over to Blaze Aids Member Julie for distribution. They also decided to take along plenty of tucker to help feed all the hard workers - heres a sample being packed up! Well done to everyone at Blaze Aid and Churchill Lions.

02.01.2022 WooHoo - welcome to Kevin Wanless - our new Lion Member! Finally we managed to hold our very first Meeting, obviously not all Members could attend due to numbers limit and the main duty was to induct Kevin who has been patiently waiting for his big night. Masks and distancing adhered to (except for a quick photo shoot and then to consume the famous Lions sausages for tea). President Reg Grisotto conducted the Ceremony to induct Kevin who then proudly showed off his Membership Certificate with his Sponsor Lion Bill Hurenkamp.

02.01.2022 Hello!! I spy with my little eye an SD card who is missing its family. My defective detective skills suggest it belongs to a family of two parents and 3 childre...n. One of the kids names is possibly Phoenix and another might be Zane. A young member of the family seems to be a fan of Collingwood Football Club. It appears from the photos that the family has been on an amazing adventure. Theyve been to a few places including the snow, Licola Wilderness Village and Caldermeade Farm & Cafe, possibly during 2015-2016. Please help get these photo memories back to their family by sharing this post! - Socks

01.01.2022 WE'RE BACK! We could not have had a better welcome than what we received from the Public today with the return of the first Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in Morwell! A fantastic busy fun day. There were many new Health Rules and Regulations but we fast got into the swing of it and received a big thumbs up from our Bunnings Supervisor Barbara. The general comments from the public were : Welcome Back and Great To See You Back! The gong of the day had to go to our President who went to eat his sausage but forgot he had a mask on!

01.01.2022 Our Mission is to stay safe in these terrible times so that when things return to some sort of normal we can all be there to help those in need. Join Lions when were in the all clear!
