21.01.2022 Nathan Barnden was the 2011 N Districts State YOTY winner. He has been a volunteer firefighter for years. He has spent many weeks fighting fires on the south coast of NSW. An uncle and a cousin perished in a fire and the same week his grandmother passed away. This item from the Daily Telegraph show him and a colleague reuniting with a family they saved from a fire.
20.01.2022 Given that as members of LCI that we do not discuss partisan politics or sectarian religion, is it appropriate for some members to promote their own (sometimes ...extreme) political beliefs on the same forum where they also post details of their Lions activities? Should we ‘call-out’ these members? Is it appropriate to? Why have we not? I’d be interested in other members’ thoughts.
18.01.2022 Vale Andrea Mitchell; past member L C Kingsley-Woodvale. Andrea was inducted on 28th April, 2010. Being a politician with huge demands on her time we didn't see much of her, however, she was always supportive of the club and its members. Despite this she always found time to participate in most activities, especially our sausage sizzles. Following the loss of her seat of Kingsley, in the state election of February 2017, Andrea's commitments were too great to continue as a member. We will remember her for her support, her friendship and her wonderful disposition and persona.

17.01.2022 We had our first Zoom meeting earlier this evening. It worked well and we conducted a little business and exchanged tales of our times in this new world.
17.01.2022 Yes! We're 30 years in the making. 27th October, 1990 was the day of our charter dinner held at the Woodvale Tavern. Jack Le Cras was DG. W1 had 59 clubs and 1,124 members. We have survived. We chartered with 27 members and just two remain; Mal and Brian. Last night the club celebrated this milestone with a dinner. President Colin inducted Jake Jackson as a member with the support of his sponsor, Wayne.
17.01.2022 Lions are reminded that Youth of the Year is no longer a 'Quest'. The National Committee agreed on the name change during a review in 2013. The term was conside...red to be 'too 60s'. It is now a Program or a Project. It has not been a 'Quest' since the 2013-14 year. When you are promoting Youth of the Year to schools or on your social media platforms (including Facebook) - please remember that it is the Lions Youth of the Year Program... See more

14.01.2022 We provided sausage sizzles to the guests and visitors at the annual Iluka Homeowners' Association Halloween event, at Sir James McCusker Park. And what a great day it was, being sandwiched between a day of 37 and continuous rain the day after.
12.01.2022 Council induction - Australia and New Zealand
11.01.2022 Lions Club of Kingsley-Woodvale have been serving the community for decades. It’s great to have the barbecue firing at Bunnings again so that we can continue to provide service to those who need it.
11.01.2022 Can you believe it's that time already? 2020 has been challenging in lots of ways, but the good news is the Lions Christmas cake is here to stay. Perfected over... the years, the traditional Lions Australia Christmas cake recipe is packed with high quality ingredients and 50% fruit but there’s one magic ingredient in this cake that sets it apart from the rest. The Lions Christmas Cake makes a difference. With all proceeds going back to Lions Clubs and initiatives across the country, the cakes help fund a range of vital projects in the community. We are also pleased to confirm we have found a new supplier following the closure of Top Taste bakery which has been producing the cakes for the past 35 years. Top Taste has produced their final bake of Lions Cakes for the 2020 season and from next year the Christmas cakes will be produced by Victorian-based Traditional Foods. We look forward to working with Traditional Foods to carry forth the great quality and taste that you've all come to love. Find a cake near you: https://lionsclubs.org.au/activities/products/cakes/
10.01.2022 Lions Australia is pleased to have adopted Disaster Relief Australia as one of our key projects. Disaster Relief Australia (formerly known as Team Rubicon) brin...gs military veterans, emergency responders and motivated civilians together to volunteer their time to assist with emergency and disaster relief operations. This not only helps communities devastated by disasters, but it also helps Australian veterans find purpose through community service. Lions members are often the first to respond during times of crisis, as was seen in the 2019/2020 Black Summer bushfires. This partnership will be of significant benefit to both organisations - allowing veterans to get involved in more community projects, and assisting Lions clubs with more trained emergency responders in times of disaster. 10.01.2022 At Lions, we believe that supporting and developing young people is a critical part of our future. Through our LEO clubs, Youth of the Year Australia program, Y...outh Exchange and Peace Poster contest, to name a few, we encourage young people to learn new skills and explore their own potential. https://lionsclubs.org.au/activities/youth/
09.01.2022 The club purchased a trampoline for Mason who has a number of challenges. The sensory input from jumping and bouncing on the trampoline helps to dampen his needs for deep pressure proceptive and movement input and helps to maintain his self regulation. This appears to help keep him calm and use some of the excess energy he has, which also contributes towards a better night's sleep.
09.01.2022 Thank you Lions Club of Kingsley-Woodvale for your support. Hope everyone enjoy our yummy food tonight
08.01.2022 It's almost that time again! Our fourth Leo presentation will be from our N Districts' winner - Chelsea Webb. Thursday, 8pm AEST. A Leo member for 3 years, Che...lsea has served as Vice President and President of the Mount View High School Mount View Leo Club. She loves to devote her time to help those in need and to encourage and lead others to do the same. Her club regularly provides meals for Hunter Hands of Hope and supports other local charities through collections and various fundraising efforts. According to Chelsea, Leos gives young people the opportunity to create an impact and build relationships and connections, not only within the club, but within society. We hope you'll join us on Thursday to hear from Chelsea.
07.01.2022 The need was immediate. As smoke filled the sky, Lions mobilised quickly, cooking meals for first responders battling blazes and treating the wounded. Lions al...so collected and distributed food and other emergency items and held fundraisers for fire victims. To exponentially broaden their impact, Lions sought support from their foundation Lions Clubs International Foundation taking advantage of a $141,000 AUD LCIF Disaster Relief grant to restore water infrastructure, where many families use above-ground tanks to store their drinking water. When flames rushed through, the heat of the fires melted the tanks, leaving families without safe drinking water, explained a local firefighter. With the LCIF grant, Lions purchased and installed new tanks, giving families access to life-sustaining potable water. 05.01.2022 President Colin announced the recipient of the Club's inaugural year 11 scholarship at an assembly at Woodvale Secondary college. In recognition he presented a certificate to Curtis Atkinson.
03.01.2022 When the smoke clears, Lions are still there. This bushfire season, the Australian Lions Foundation raised in excess of $2.5 million, of which $1.5 million has already been distributed to the communities in need. Where there's a need, there's a Lion. #WeServe
