25.01.2022 Probably not as calm as our participants would like on their first day out but by Gold, we do need a challenge! Good luck Flynn and Mikki! Hope you find your sea legs quickly in that sea.

25.01.2022 Well are you ready for all these things? Are you ready to challenge yourself to expand your current interests or discover new talents? Are you 14 or over and ready to discover new facets of yourself you didn't know existed? Living in this covid world has challenged us all and mostly to the good. Learn how you can adapt better and easier by challenging yourself to a journey through our International Duke of Edinburgh's International Award. Contact us to find out how.

25.01.2022 What a great skill for your Bronze, Ben. Bill will be a great mentor/assessor for you and already being able to hit the clay target, I'm sure shows a natural ability. Keep it going as we're all interested to see how you progress.

24.01.2022 Congratulations Harry achieving this huge milestone before finishing school. All the hours, sweat and dogged perseverance shows. Your goals in your physical sections in all three levels of your Duke's Award have been met. The knowledge you learnt in your Gold skill has helped you achieve sponsorship and your journey through Dukes, while not quite finished, has made you #WORLDREADY in the triathlon community, your penultimate goal. ... Look out Olympics!

24.01.2022 The going isn't quite so easy today. Nothing like a bit of Aussie bush to slow you down and make you wonder if you took the right route! #dukeofed

23.01.2022 It was all quiet in the bush when Frances got up this morning, with no early risers. The glowsticks worked well giving more light than they seem to in the photo, showing them where the water runoff trench was between their tents and the toilet block.

23.01.2022 Well done guys. Glowing verbal comments from Frances on your performance and attitude. Definitely worthy of Bronze Qualifying. Get your logs in quickly as the rest of all your Awards are ready for submitting. Bring on Silver!

23.01.2022 Welcome to our Duke's family Izzy. What a great combination of Scouting and Duke's. It's been a proven winner for a long, long time. Having the ability to cross credit your Scouting activities while challenging yourself to new ones as well, presents untold opportunities to become #WORLDREADY. Enjoy your journey!

21.01.2022 Our Maleny Bridge, Bronze and Gold participants are all Leos and will be holding a sausage sizzle tomorrow outside Woolworths for World Diabetes Day. Come along and buy a sausage to help fund our local Leo youth projects and donate a coin for Juvenile Diabetes. #diabetes #worldready

20.01.2022 Life in our Duke's family goes on despite covid and bushfires. Some fantastic work done here on a great resdiential project. Well done PCYC Gold Coast!

20.01.2022 A special post for the Mums. Your sons are all coping with cooking and pitching their tents. They should sleep safely tonight, although I can't guarantee just how well. Evening activities have started but no photos from them tonight.

20.01.2022 Not a great weekend for canoeing or camping but our combined AJ with Toogoolawah SHS is going ahead despite the weather. It's just one more challenge to meet on their journey. Two new tents tried out this weekend to better suit our participants and they were a challenge to pitch in the dark after a huge push to get back from the other side of the lake against the wind. We'll forgive them if they weren't early risers this morning as it would have been a lateish night after ...getting their hex stoves to light in the wind so they could cook tea. A challenge all round this weekend and well deserved praise for them when they finish tomorrow. Resilience and perseverance to meet the weekend challenges is what you learn on your Duke's journey. A weekend these lads won't forget in a long time! Well done everyone! #WORLDREADY #dukeofedinburghaward #dukeofedinburgh #dukeofed

18.01.2022 Welcome to our Duke's family Ben. It's going to be rushed, brief Bronze visit before your 25th birthday, but you're on your way today with your physical activity and your AJ in a couple of weeks. Enjoy your journey with us.

16.01.2022 Two excited lads on their way to Mt Cotton to complete their qualifying Bronze AJs. A great pair who have accomplished and learnt a lot on their Bronze Duke's journey to becoming #worldready when they leave school . Good luck Edan and Callum. Have a great time and learn to navigate safely through our bushland using compass and topo maps. Looking forward to hearing how you went.

15.01.2022 Good luck and safe travelling to the two AJs travelling this weekend. Harry is cycling from Esk with Toogoolawah High School Award Centre for his Gold and our AJS Frances is bushwalking at Karingal, Mt Cotton with a huge group doing their Bronze AJ arranged by State Office. Our turn in a couple of weekend's time at Karingal and the number in the group is growing rapidly now as Bronze participants from other Award Centres who have been sweating on the lifting of covid restr...ictions to finish their AJs ask to join us with their supervising adults. All of these three groups are working under the strict QORF guidelines produced by Qld Health for activities such as these. Lots more gear and separation of small groups, but we're achieving our goals despite the pandemic. We really are #WORLDREADY!

15.01.2022 It's the 10 days or so for AJs for most of our participants. The Silver lads went canoeing for Easter at Wivenhoe, our Bronze participants hike along the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk next weekend and two of our Gold participants sail on the South Passage mid week for several days from Gladstone to Manly. Rain and windy conditions add to the exhilaration of learning resilience and persistence, even when things aren't all rosy, and they've certainly proved that lately.... Even the uncertainty of covid lockdown has been overcome to participant in our AJs at all levels. Stuff of great future memories and friendships! #WORLDREADY #dukeofedinburghaward #southpassage

14.01.2022 Welcome to our Duke's family Flynn. As a direct entrant for Gold and starting uni next year, it's a big challenge, particularly having to do one of your activities for 18 months. Your Award Plan is realistic and awaiting Award Office approval. A new life in so many aspects and you have some pretty major goals to achieve before commencing work. Our Duke's Award will help you to meet life head on to become #WORLDREADY

13.01.2022 Good advice when you're thinking of undertaking a Duke's journey. You control your journey at each level except for the minimum number of hours required for a skill, physical activity, service and your adventurous journeys. If you want anything in your life to change, register for the Duke's International Award today and take control of your future to be #WORLDREADY when you finish. #dukeofed #dukeofedinburghaward

11.01.2022 Young people doing The Duke of Ed during COVID-19 have shown they are ready to adapt! #WORLDREADY

11.01.2022 Good luck guys for your AJ this weekend. You'll meet new friends and learn a lot, lot more about navigation. It's an all male participant weekend with participants from three other Award Centres joining you for both practice and qualifying Bronze AJs. Have a ball! I'm looking forward to reading your logs and sending in your completed Bronze Awards when you've submitted them.

11.01.2022 Come and be challenged by the questions our Leos have prepared for you as part of their Duke's service. Dress in costume if you wish and we'll meet the covid restrictions in place on the date so tickets will be limited. Hand sanitizer and masks available if you would prefer to use them. Plenty of prizes to be won and we know you'll bring plenty of food for your tables as you did last time. We'll have tea and coffee and the RSL bar will be open. ... Tables will be of 6 or 8, preferably 8 and tickets will be available as last time, paid for in cash from Joanne at Maleny Art Direct in the new year. Come and help our Leos raise money for their local youth projects.

11.01.2022 We want to hear from you! How do your Award Activities help you achieve SDG no.3 Good Health and Wellbeing? Click here to tell us: https://www.tfaforms.com/4850...692 Click below to find out more: https://dukeofed.com.au/act4sdgs-achieving-sdg-no-3-throug/

10.01.2022 Well I did say it was going to be different terrain Harry. Riding beside the Brisbane River was very different to following the Brisbane Valley trail through the country but that's what Duke's is all about - experience, perseverance, resilience! Just your log to go now (after your triathlons) to finish your AJs. One hour to go for your skill and a few on your service to complete Gold. Grade 12 study and exams will always come first though. Keep it going as it's been so difficult through the covid restrictions. We're all behind you cheering you on.

09.01.2022 Join our MBR Duke's family and show the world what you're made of. Contact us today to see what new experiences challenge you!

08.01.2022 If you're a singer or dancer like Annabel or a serious muso, then your hour's practice right through the Christmas holidays keeps your skills up. Scales and exercises, both physical and oral maintain and continue to improve your skills in these pursuits. While holidays are taken into account because we're not really all that hard to get on with, your hour per week practice over the holidays will see you finish your Award level so much earlier and will make your singing/dancing/music teacher so much happier that you haven't lost any previously attained skills during the time they don't see you. Great practice Annabel and your Bronze will finish in no time at all. Well done!

08.01.2022 Do you prefer gaming or television rather than reading? Challenge yourself to read for your Duke's skill. Graphic novels are a great way of reading books without having to read wordy passages. Graphic novels (or comic books) are a great source of relaxation and enjoyment for all ages away from the hurly burly of the day or an even better way of learning to read, especially if you have a learning disability that you've been able to hide from the world. Challenge yourself now to your Bronze Duke's Award and use reading as your skill.

06.01.2022 Welcome Thomas and Tilly to our Duke's family. Your transfer in to our Award Centre after the closure of yours and your obvious love of hiking, is just in time for our next proposed Silver AJ when school finishes. With Thomas being half way through Silver and Tilly waiting on news of Bronze approval before starting Silver, you'll fit right into our family beautifully.

06.01.2022 Your Gold Practice AJ was an experience Harry, riding the Brisbane Valley Trail from Nanango to Esk. The next step coming up. Thankfully it shouldn't be as cold this trip. Waking up to 2 degrees with it feeling like .3 at Blackbutt was a rude experience! Good luck with the Esk to Dinmore qualifying trip which will be quite different terrain.

05.01.2022 Going well guys! Keep it up.

04.01.2022 Love this saying. Open your own book by registering with the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award to create the exciting pages you can.reread with pride right into your old age. Challenge yourself to new skills and service to others. Your AJs in particular will create exciting chapters that you'll look back on for the rest of your life.... Open your book now and register for our Duke's Award and become #worldready #dukeofed

04.01.2022 Congratulations Helen. Your Level 2 Bridge certificate and badge have been issued. Your physical activity for both levels is keeping you busy these holidays with practice and workshops before your dancing exams.

03.01.2022 A couple more photos from our Silver canoeing AJ just completed. They're a tired looking bunch eating tea on Saturday night after the hard push to get back to the campsite on Friday evening. Many thanks to Toogoolawah SHS for our hired canoes!

03.01.2022 Congratulations to our Bridge, Bronze and Gold participants, holding a sausage sizzle in Maleny. They are all Leos and they raised money for local youth projects. A coin collection was successful as well, raising money for Juvenile Diabetes. A great way to commence Flynn's Gold service journey.

03.01.2022 While the world challenges us probably more than we want at the moment, our Duke's participants are all challenging back even harder and we will win! Keep up your physical activities, your newfound or improving skill, challenge the natural environment in your AJs and assist others to cope with the challenges they face for your service. The Duke's program is made for this covid environment. Keep challenging yourself and the world. Finish your Award levels and be #WORLDREADY when you do!

01.01.2022 Who made cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve? Issy did! A great way to spend an hour on your Bronze skill! I hope he appreciated them Issy.
