20.01.2022 During the extended COVID-19 lockdown, our Lions Club has not been able to have any of our usual fundraising events such as sausage sizzles, book sales, plant sales, Lions mints, etc. The Club has decided to go online with a fundraising event that is not only green but helping our environment with Australia’s most eco-friendly fundraising initiative, the Plant-A-Difference Fundraiser. The more money we raise the more trees we can plant in our environment and provide much-need...ed funds to support the Lions Club of Wheelers Hill activities in our local community. HOW DO WE FUNDRAISE? With every $15 raised through the fundraiser, we will contribute one native tree (or shrub) to Australia’s global diversity hotspot. You can donate as little as $1 or as much as you like with 65% of your donation going to the Lions Club of Wheelers Hill, and 35% towards planting trees. HOW TO DONATE? Click on this link to donate securely on-line via Credit Card or PayPal. https://plantadifference.gofundraise.com.au//d/page/968156

The Plant-A-Difference Fundraiser is an eco-friendly fundraising initiative which aims to bring together schools, businesses and the community to help restore landscapes, reproduce natural ecosystems and reduce carbon emissions. With every $15 raised through the fundraiser one native tree (or shrub) will be planted in Australia’s only global biodiversity hotspot which is located in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor. This region has an exceptionally high number of plant and animal species found nowhere else in the world. It’s sustainability fundraising at its best! 09.01.2022 Who are we? One more member gives us two more hands to do service in our community, at home and internationally. At Lions we make things happen. As a member of Lions Australia you will experience a number of personal benefits including leadership skills, a sense of self-worth and purpose, business skills, networking opportunities and lifelong friendships.... What we do Lions Australia has a proud history of achievement in Disaster and Emergency Relief, Medical Research and Community Service. We were at the coalface for Cyclone Tracy, the Black Saturday bushfires and the Queensland floods. We were involved with the development of the bionic ear and the cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil, developed by Prof Ian Frazer AC, a former Lions Medical Research Foundation Fellow. We also inspired a young Fred Hollows and continue to provide funding for a range of other research initiatives involving diabetes and autism. We assist with local community fundraising for special causes and help with the development and building of local parks, community venues, and sporting centres.
