Today supported by Nudgee Beach Environment School (NBES) community. This is a Nundah Lions environment cause. Members would like an extra pair of hands to run this every Sunday, iff possible. Did you know a Lion * can run up to a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour * could live up to 15 years in the wild * second biggest cat in the world behind Tigers * active during day and at night, but they prefer hunting at night * male Lion can be heard from a distance up to eight kilometres * heaviest Lion on record weighed about 375 kg. The average male Lion weighs is 180 kg, the average female Lion weighs up to 130 kg. * Unlike other cats domesticated included Lions group together in prides. This makes them somewhat similar to canines, who group together in packs ! * Like domesticated cats and dogs, a Lion will mark its territory with urine. Lions dont live in jungle environments. They live in deserts, savanna rasslands, green plains and fields. * Lions are also very fast but arent great at running for long periods of time. Remember a Lion can reach a top speed of up to 80 kph. You cant outrun them but those that have a chance just need to count on the cats losing their breath mid-pace! * Female Lions do most of the hard work.
