14.01.2022 Many refer to Lions as Australia’s best kept secret but in coming weeks Lions volunteers across Australia will be hosting a number of special events in their communities to celebrate Lions Awareness Day. Since the first club was formed in Australia almost 75 years ago Lions has grown dramatically in size and impact with over 1300 clubs and 30,000 members now giving back through an array of community-based programs and initiatives. 13.01.2022 It has been wonderful to see photos and videos rolling in from everyone who participated in #LionsLaptheMap for Diabetes on the weekend. While we are still tallying our total kilometres, we wanted to give a special shout out to Valentine Lions Club, Australia who have managed (through their club and community support) to log a grand total of 14,075.62km!! This amazing effort was made possible thanks to the many participants who have been logging their walks and bike rides over the past month as well as during World Diabetes Day on Saturday. Well done everyone!

The contest invites Lions to submit a photograph of themselves with a short comment on how the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has supported their individual or club’s achievements and impact in areas of community service, vision or youth. Today, on World Diabetes Day, our members are hosting family friendly walks and events in our efforts to #LaptheMap for diabetes. ‘Lap the Map’ is just one important part of our overall mission to reduce the prevalence of diabetes in Australia this year. So if you see your Lions club pounding the pavement this weekend, give them a cheer or better yet - join in!
