25.01.2022 This is very encouraging news. Keep up the great work everyone!
25.01.2022 What a spectacular day it is today! Hope you are all well and kicking goals. Just to let you know that as restrictions have been eased and we return to some kind of "normality", our Lions Meetings will recomemce on Saturday 18th July at 9am for breakfast followed by the meeting. We finish around 11am. We now have a permanent home at the WOODVILLE WEST TORRENS FOTTBALL CLUB, upstairs in the Function Centre. We meet on the third Saturday of every month, (except for Dec and Jan)... for a breakfast meeting. ALL ARE WELLCOME TO JOIN US. If you would like to see what your local Lions Club is doing in our community, let President Marijka Ryan know you would like to attend so we can advise the chef for catering purposes. Contact number 0408 656 362.
25.01.2022 SURVEY TIME! Lions Australia recently worked with Australian Lions Hearing Dogs to develop a short survey titled 'Lions and Family Aspirations'. The primary purpose of this anonymous survey is to better inform potential sponsors or companies that may be interested in supporting our organisation and programs financially. ... The survey questions range from general demographic information to more specific questions regarding your lifestyle and spending choices. Once again, this data will remain anonymous at all times but will greatly assist the Multiple District and our project/foundation leaders when it comes to seeking corporate sponsorship. Not only do we want members to participate, but in order to establish an accurate representation of Lions, we would be grateful if you could please invite your spouse and adult children to take part too, whether they are Lions or not. Help us better inform our potential sponsors by having your say now: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Lionsinterests

23.01.2022 Congratulations to Mayor of Charles Sturt, Angela Evans who has just been chosen as the President of the Local Government Association, (LGA) in South Australia. As a Member of the Lions Club of Charles Sturt, we couldn't be prouder of her!
23.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to all our wonderful Fathers. You are all incredible and we love very much! xxx
22.01.2022 Congratualtions to our new DG Tony Pederick OAM, who officially takes over today from PDG Kevin Masters. Wishing you much success in the role!
22.01.2022 Bees are vital for our survival. They maintain the ecosystems that allow crops to grow and feed the planet. Without bees, we would perish. It is wonderful to see the many hives that are maintained by community garden groups. Well done to all those helping keep and protect our bees for our future.
22.01.2022 The Lions International Peace Poster Project 2020/2021 finalists were judged this morning at Annesley Junior School. This year's theme was "Peace through Service". A wonderful event and amazing Posters submitted. All were fantastic. Congratulations to all the Schools that participated and all the children who had entries.
22.01.2022 It's a little late, however a few photos from dawn on Anzac Day. The first 3 are from the President's home in Dernancourt and the last three are from our Secretary's home at Port Vincent. Lest we forget...
20.01.2022 A reminder of the various mental health services availble to the community during these difficult times. If you feel down and can't see you're way out of your troubles, call and speak to someone who will be able to help you.
20.01.2022 What a great and promising start it was to the last financial year. Presenting the Business Plan to our Lions Club Members and special guest was the new DG Kevin Masters who presided over the induction of 7 new members. The year started off beautifully and then all plans were put on hold as money for projects was partly diverted to helping the bushfire efforts, and then activity ground to a halt because of the pandemic. That pretty much sums up my first year as President. Her...e we are 12 months later and its TAKE 2. We now have secured a permanent home for the Club at the Eagles WWTFC and are looking towards a better year as we start returning to "normal" Fingers crossed that our State remains COVID-19 free and our Lions Clubs can do what we do best.....and that is serving the community!

18.01.2022 It gives me great pleasure to announce that after an official invitation from myself to both Mark Daker and Dragana Curak to join our Lions Club Board, both have accepted. #newboardappointments #weserve #lionsclubofcharlessturt Both Mark and Dragana bring some valuable skill sets, experience, knowledge and talent to our Board which will enhance and improve our ability to make better and more informed decisions regarding the Strategic Direction of our Club. Congratulations to ...you both! (Photo is from the Induction Ceremony conducted by our DG Tony Pederick OAM earlier this year).
18.01.2022 For all those using Zoom for the very first time...lol
17.01.2022 A good turnout for our Lions Board Meeting this morning. Almost a full house present with some great decisions made!
16.01.2022 Lovely visit to the Lions Club of West Beach tonight. Good to see Zig and Jennifer Osis and meet the Members. They had a wonderful guest speaker tonight, Robert Davis from the Clipper Ship, City of Adelaide. Details can be found at https://www.cityofadelaide.org.au/ City of Adelaide was built in Sunderland, England, and launched on 7 May 1864. It was built by William Pile, Hay and Co. for transporting passengers and goods between Britain and Australia. It has a fascinating hi...story from the time she was built until now where she is located at Dock 2 at Port Adelaide. Accompanying me was Lida Telfer, Club Care Chair from Lions Club of Charles Sturt. We had a great evening!

For those lucky to have your Mother's still with you remember to let her know just how much she means to you. Happy Mother's Day to my Mum in heaven and to all you wonderful Mothers out there. 13.01.2022 12th May is International Nurse Day. Thank you to all our wonderful nurses who's sacrifice is measured in the health and well being of our community. We would be lost without you. Your courage and strength in these difficult times is so appreciated!
12.01.2022 As the President of the Lions Club of Charles Sturt it is my sad duty to inform you that our former Lions Member, Anthony Von Einem has passed away peacefully in Bundaberg Queensland aged 48. He died peacefully in his sleep on 11th July. We had the pleasure of Anthonys company in our Club when he transferred over after moving to Woodville. He was with our Club for some years and was a highly respected and active member. His happy disposition and eagerness to participate in ...all Club activities made him a joy to be around. He was also a Board Member for the last year and a half that he was with us. I would like to thank Rose Agnew, our former Treasurer for introducing Anthony to the Board and for suggesting that he would be a great addition. I invited Anthony to join the Board for 2018/2019 which he did very happily. He continued on until Christmas 2019 when he advised that he would be moving back to Bundaberg Queensland to be with his ageing father and to help out on their family farm. Despite him having Williams Syndrome, Anthony never let it stop him from being actively engaged with the Club, always volunteering for every Bunnings BBQ we had, attending car Park duty and had an impeccable attendance record with Board and General Meetings. He was the epitome of what it means to be a Lion and will always be remember with great fondness for the wonderful, giving and kind man that he was. May his beautiful soul rest in peace.
12.01.2022 The COIVID-19 measures implemented in SA are working! Good news, but not over yet. Patience and persistence will win the day. 24th, 25th and 26th April.....NO NEW CASES IN SA
12.01.2022 Today we commemorate Vietnam Veterans' Day and reflect on Australias involvement in the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1975. 60,000 Australians contributed to the war, 521 did not return. 18 August also marks the anniversary of one of the most well-known Australian engagements of the Vietnam War: the Battle of Long Tan.... Lest we forget.

10.01.2022 Another lovely visit to a Lions Club in Zone 4. This time it was the Lions Club of West Lakes Seaton. With me was Lida Telfer, Club Care Chair of Charles Sturt Lions. Many thanks to President Karen Hutchison and the Members for a very warm reception. It was fantastic to see most of Karen's family present who were also Members of the Club. Chartered in 2001 the Club is strong and have a relaxed Meeting with great participation from all the Members. I was invited to speak and promised a quick introduction and passing on of information from District. As it turned out there were many questions and I had the floor for a good half hour....lol.
09.01.2022 Good morning and Merry Christmas to you all. Hope you all enjoy this blessed day and know that we might well be the luckiest people on earth at the moment. As others around the globe and even in parts of Australia remain in isolation and lock down, unable to be with their families and friends, our biggest issue is whether to eat outside or set the table inside for Christmas. This year will go down in history as the year that changed the world. The way we do things and inter...act with others has had to change. Covid has turned everything upside down. Many have lost their livelihoods, their income and their jobs as companies have had to scale down and restructure in repsonse to massive revenue losses. There have been lives lost through this pamdemic and families devasted. We have all been touched one way or another by Covid, but I believe that as we celebrate Christmas, we have much to be thankful for. We have each other and we have come through this global upheaval much better than the rest of the world. As we sit down to wonderful Christmas fare at lunch and dinner, visit with family and friends during the day, spare a thought for those who can't. I am grateful that we live here in Australia and that we can actually still have a relatively normal life. Enjoy the celebrations and be happy for the many blessings that surround us. As Lions we will have much to do in 2021! From my family to yours, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May God bless you and your family and keep you safe throughout the comming year.
09.01.2022 From all of us at the Lions Club of Charles Sturt a big congratulations to the Eagles WWTFC on becoming the 2020 SANFL Premiers! Best wishes to the team, coaches, staff and supporters. What started as a bad year globally has ended up as a great one locally!
08.01.2022 How good is this! We will have to do one also for our Club!

04.01.2022 Great advice and very informative!. Thank you to the Lions Club of Adelaide and Andrew in particular, who spoke while he was getting his excercice in by walking around the oval at GAZA. Love your work and will consider joining you for your Sunday walks.
04.01.2022 Yesterday's Lions Cabinet Meeting was at last face to face. It was held at the Campbelltown City Soccer Seniors Club Rooms. A facility I know very well, as my youngest played there for quite a few years. Great to catch up with many Cabinet members rather than just seeing them on the screen. Those members who weren't able to make the trip down from the country still joined in through zoom.
04.01.2022 Latest COVID-19 update.

02.01.2022 It's National Volunteer Week (18th-24th May). The Lions Club of Charles Sturt would like to acknowledge and salute the many Volunteers from all organisations across our nation who answer the call to serve. Your efforts make a huge difference to the quality of life for many. We would be lost without you! As the President of Charles Sturt Lions I extend an extra special THANK YOU to our Club Members and those of Lions International. Our Lion's Motto...."We serve"
02.01.2022 This morning's Lions Meeting was jambed packed with a full Agenda. We had some very special guests present, including our own Honourary Member, Mayor Angela Evans, our Council Liason, Councillor Kelly Thomas, Our Guest Speaker Lion Carol Barnes and our District Governor Tony Pederick OAM delivering some inspiring words on the District, and his vision and hopes for the coming year. He also conducted the induction ceremony for our very excited new Members. Guest speaker Lion Ca...rol Barnes who is herself a Nurse and our District Representative with the Australian Medical Association spoke about the work that Lions members perform with the Cancer Screening Bus. She explained that 20% of the people screened were referred on to further medical examinations when abnormalities and lesions were discovered. Many lives have been saved through this free service that Lions provide as the early detection of potential carcenomas meant a much better prognosis for life expectancy. Carol is a leader within the Lions Organisation and works with many volunteers to deliver this service to our communities. Many thanks go to her and her husband Vice District Governor John Barnes as they left very early in the morning from Moonta Bay to get to the meeting by 9am to deliver the presentation. A big welcome to our new Members Dragana Curak, Mark Daker and Georgina Totolas. Amila Sampath Madduma Bandara was not able to attend due to sickness and his gorgeous wife Nadeeka Mahamadachchi also stayed away in the interest's of public health. Both Amila and Nadeeka will be inducted next month. I also managed to squeeze in a presentation on our Club's Business Plan. All in all a cracking meeting!
01.01.2022 What a great night it was last night for our 56th annual Christmas Dinner!
01.01.2022 With our AGM concluded and our Executive roles filled for 2021/2022 our Lions Club is set to acheive some great things for our community in the next term of office. Thank you to 2nd VDG from our District Zig Osis for conducting the election of the Office Bearers. Lovely to have his wife Lion Jennifer Osis present also. Many thanks to our Council Liason, Councillor Kelly Thomas for attending our meeting and our host Sam Conlon from the Eagles Function Room for another delicio...us breakfast. The highlight of today's General Meeting was our wonderful guest speaker, Rex Buckingham from Colour Thinking. Rex is a Corporate Consultant who has a fascinating story to tell. Rex has either corporately managed, owned or consulted to most industries. He has a substantial background in general management, marketing, manufacturing, finance, project management, personnel and strategic development at both the corporate and business owner level. https://leadershipthinking.academy/ Quite a few of our members purchsed a copy of his book "Develop through Leadership Thinking". I shall enjoy my copy tonight with my feet up and a glass of red.
01.01.2022 It was lovely to catch up with the Lions Club of Richmond on Tuesday, 11th August at their General Meeing. While part of my duties as the Zone 4 Chair iinvoles visiting the Clubs in the Zone on a semi-regular basis, it is more of a pleasure for me to see how other Clubs operate. Arriving a little earlier our Charles Sturt Club Care Chair, Lida Telfer joined me to have a wander through their fabulous Op Shop before the meeting. Both Lida and I were so impressed with the Shop ...which provides the Club with a steady revenue stream and the ability to support the needy in our community by not only offering incredible bargains for those on limited incomes but also by donating most of the proceeds to supporting other charities including our own Lions Charities with substantial donations. The Club has approximately 40 volunteers, (half of whom are Members), who donate their time to working in the Op Shop. It was good to meet Club President Dianne Goldsworthy, under whose leadership, the Richmond Lions are setting an awesome example of what a Club can do and how their efforts can positively impact the lives of those most in need. While at the meeting we witnessed 3 new Members being inducted by 2nd VDG Zig Osis. Congratulations to Mother and son, Jenny and Russell Moore and Frank Hobbs for taking that all important step to becoming a Lion and joining the growing ranks of those committed to serving their community.
