12.01.2022 It was such an honour to be part of something so significant. The 175th Cataraqui Commemoration Ceremony. The cairn originally built by the members of Lions Club of King Island In 1995 on the 150th anniversary still stands and is now adorned by a beautiful brass bell and a plaque listing all the souls lost on that fateful day 175 years ago. It was such a beautiful day with the sun shining and the surf rolling in. Well done to all involved.

07.01.2022 The opportunity To Serve. Lions is a service club. This is the best reason for becoming a Lion: the chance to do as a group what we cannot hope to achieve on our own, to serve fellow man, and to make the world a better place. Our Motto is simple, but it says it all. We Serve.

07.01.2022 Today the Lions Club built a wall to close in the Southern end of the Grassy bus shelter and picnic area. Hopefully everyone will find things less breezy and more pleasant. Thanks to the Grassy Progress Association for inviting us to assist in this way. Our very first project 51 years ago happened to be a bus shelter at Grassy.

07.01.2022 LC King Island announces a new initiative to celebrate our members and their achievements. We have our own Club Hall of Fame. A big Congratulations to Jan Strickland as our first recipient. Jan has been part of our Club since its inception 51 years ago, firstly as a valued Lions Lady, followed by 25 Years as a Lion in her own right. Jan has been President of the Club and has rarely missed any event where tickets have been sold. Her knitting skills have raised hundreds of doll...ars every year in raffle sales, where her jumper is the much sought after prize. Jan & Dick attended many Conventions at great expense to themselves, including several overseas trips, where they faithfully represented our little Club. Jan has previously received a James D Richardson Award quite an honour within the Lions International Family. Jan’s awards can be viewed in the Lions Den at Reekara. See more

06.01.2022 We all know Lion Linda Payne goes above and beyond for our club but I’m sure not a lot of you are aware of how much she does for our Tasmanian District. Congratulations to Lion Linda for not only receiving an appreciation certificate for serving on David Triffitt’s Cabinet but also a Tasmanian Lions Foundation Fellowship for her outstanding services on the District Newsletter. Linda did a wonderful job as editor for 4 years and the recognition is well deserved. Our Zone Chair Victoria Cochrane was able to present Linda with her award and certificate when attending our Charter Anniversary dinner.
