16.01.2022 Glenside Lions observe Lions World Diabetes Day on 14 November. Diabetes can lead to serious diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, nerv...es and teeth. In most high-income countries, diabetes is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease, blindness, kidney failure, and lower limb amputation. It is expected to affect 629 million adults by 2045. Our strategic objective is to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed. See more

16.01.2022 Glenside Lions have donated $2000 to Australian Lions Hearing Dogs. Our Club donates regularly to this very important Australian Lions project that benefits man...y Australians. One in six Australians suffer from some form of hearing loss and this number continues to rise. Of these people, approximately 400,000 are dealing daily with the isolating challenges of severe or profound deafness. Training a Hearing Assistance Dog takes approximately 6 months and is split into two parts; public access and sound training. An Australian Lions Hearing Dog has the same public access rights as a guide dog for the blind. It is essential therefore that they are comfortable and relaxed in a range of outdoor settings. Consequently, trainee Hearing Assistance Dogs are put through an intensive socialisation program where they are trained to accompany their future deaf or hard of hearing owners into shops, restaurants, workplaces and on public transport. #WeServe See more

This Australian initiative involving Lions and Rotary is... a valuable resource for anyone on medications or suffering medical conditions-more so if travelling. The booklet records all your medications/history/emergency contact and has a magnetized pouch to keep it on the fridge for when needed or source the pocket version for your bag!! The Lions Club of Gilbert Valley are proud to be involved in this project. A gold coin is requested for the books so this can be an ongoing self funded resource in the future. Whilst there you can drop off your old prescription glasses and hearing aids in the recycle for sight box. # ClareValleyFamilyPharmacy
