15.01.2022 Lions Derecho Fridge Refill: As you know, the Derecho hit Iowans hard. Many people lost so much including food items in their refrigerators and freezers from po...wer outages. Judy Stone, Iowa Lions 9MC Council Chair, applied to Lions Clubs International Foundation for a $10,000 Disaster Grant, which was approved within 24 hours! The monies were then split up between five communities considering economic criteria. Dysart Lions were given $2,500 to distribute to those in need, which had to happen before the end of the month. Dysart Lions voted to match the amount by adding another $2,500 toward the need. The goal was to supply food items to Iowans in need who lost food due to power outages caused by the Derecho. Dysart Lions president, Greg Lyons stepped up to spearhead the project. Bobby & Sara Torres, owners of Bobby’s Grocery & BBQ in Dysart, co-sponsored the project along with the Dysart Lions. Because of the quick action and hard work of Greg and Sherry Lyons, with other Lions supporting them, and Bobby & Sara Torres and their team at Bobby’s Grocery & BBQ, everything was organized and made ready. For the three days of the food drive Bobby lowered the cost of meats and his team worked hard to keep up with the ground beef requests. We were able to reach out to 17 singles, 11 couples and 34 families. It was Iowans helping Iowans at its best. Greg shared with me a couple of stories of how some people were emotionally touched by the care shown to them. Thanks goes to all who served and gave. A special thanks to Council Chair Judy Stone and Lions Clubs International Foundation for making this possible. And also, a special thanks to Greg & Sherry Lyons and Bobby & Sara Torres and their team, for making this project a success! Well done! See more

07.01.2022 The Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens at Forrest Glen was the fabulous venue Saturday morning for the Sunshine Coast Lioness picnic, which is held every year by Mooloolaba, Coolum and Buderim lioness clubs. I was very lucky to be in the area at the right time to attend, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the wonderful lionesses who have served their communities for some 45 years.

06.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 all international youth exchange and camps participation has been suspended for 2020 and 2021. As an alternative we are able to offer 2 camps for the April 2021 school holidays. Further information will be posted ASAP.

04.01.2022 Club update.....This year the Longreach Lioness Club has had to make a very big decision regarding the future of our club. This has been under the guidance of L...ions International. Lioness Clubs were advised they could join a Lions Club, become a branch club of a current Lions Club or become an independent Lions Club. The Longreach Lioness Club was sponsored by the Longreach Lion's Club in 1985. We are pleased to announce we have decided to become an independent Lions Club and once again have been sponsored by the Longreach Lion's Club. As at early 2021 our club will be known as the "Longreach Thomson River Lions Club". We strive to continue to work along side of our sponsoring Lions Club with future projects within our district as we have done in previous years. Bingo will still be our biggest fundraiser and will continue to be held every Thursday night at the Birdcage Hotel. Basically our club will be operating the same except for our name change and we will be welcoming new male and female members. If you are community minded and like to make a difference to individuals and groups in our community as well as some Lions projects, please speak to our members. We will be selling raffle tickets at the Christmas Street Party on the 11th December. See more
