15.01.2022 The need was immediate. As smoke filled the sky, Lions mobilised quickly, cooking meals for first responders battling blazes and treating the wounded. Lions al...so collected and distributed food and other emergency items and held fundraisers for fire victims. To exponentially broaden their impact, Lions sought support from their foundation Lions Clubs International Foundation taking advantage of a $141,000 AUD LCIF Disaster Relief grant to restore water infrastructure, where many families use above-ground tanks to store their drinking water. When flames rushed through, the heat of the fires melted the tanks, leaving families without safe drinking water, explained a local firefighter. With the LCIF grant, Lions purchased and installed new tanks, giving families access to life-sustaining potable water. 15.01.2022 In 1988-89, despite the violence engulfing his hometown of Beirut, Lebanon during the height of the Lebanese Civil War, 13-year-old Mustapha El Tawokji had a cl...ear image of peace. He won the first Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest, believing peace was possible. Every year since, Lions proudly continued the contest with as many as 600,000 children ages 11 to 13 from 65 countries participating. Today, on International Day of Peace, ask yourself: How do you envision peace? Get involved in this year's Peace Poster Contest at https://lionsclubs.org/peaceposter. #PeaceDay #PeacePoster

13.01.2022 Zone Chairman of the Bendigo Clubs, Alan Andrews (Strathfieldsaye LC), and Geoff Whisson (Bendigo LC), put the finishing touches to the Book Shop on Saturday morning.

10.01.2022 Past Zone Chairman and Huntly Epsom Lions Club member this morning used his trusty old ute. The old girl was moaning a little under the weight but took a load of donated books to the Bendigo Zone Book Shop warehouse. The zone has a working bee organised for cleaning and packing next Thursday. A member of the public had noticed the books being given away and quickly got the owner to contact us. The trustly old ute was mobile within 10 minutes of the phone calls

04.01.2022 Next hay run will be back to Cobar and Broken Hill in western NSW. While it has rained in lots of places, there are still many areas who haven’t been lucky eno...ugh to be under one of the bigger storms. Most have a tinge of green but no real substance to what’s on the ground so won’t be in a position to make their own feed. Loading will be on Friday October 23 in northern Vic. On Saturday night we will be hosted at the Cobar Camels Rugby Club where we will fed, watered and get to sit and watch the AFL Grand Final. Sunday we do our deliveries and head for home. If you’ve got a truck and trailer and want to give us hand, and legally escape the Melbourne lockdown to watch the Grand Final with up to 50 others, click here https://www.needforfeed.org/hay-run.html If you have some fodder to donate to make a difference in these people’s lives https://www.needforfeed.org/fodder-donations.html Or you would like to support our continuing efforts https://www.needforfeed.org/donate.html We have registered COVID Safe business plans with both the NSW and Victorian governments.
