25.01.2022 LIONS STAMP CLUB - DONATION INFORMATION Please drop your used stamps off at Hambledon House Community Centre or at Mount Sheridan Plaza - Centre Management Office. Stamps should be on or off Envelope or loose. Lion Barry commented below on the use, revenue created and how funds raised are donated to truly worthy causes in the community: The Australian Lions stamp club has had its most successful year yet through selling the millions of stamps that are donated to it each ye...ar. The club is receiving record amounts, even though the use of postage stamps is declining. Club Secretary Ross Paine explains that even though emails and messaging is fast becoming the delivery of choice, they are now finding they are being given large numbers of unwanted albums and collections as collectors realise the value is just not there if they want to sell their collections. We received and sold in excess of 400 kilos of stamps in the past 12 months, raising just on $48000 in the process. Almost all of the stamps were sold at auction in Sydney and every cent we received was passed on to the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation at the Lions Australian Convention in May. The Foundation use this money to purchase walking frames for children born with cerebral palsy who otherwise might not be able to walk upright. This latest donation brings the total money donated to the Foundation to $141000.The club is always seeking anything related to philately as everything has a price and can be sold. Their main source of revenue comes from the sale of used stamps still on or off paper and or loose, if still on envelope they can be neatly clipped from the envelope, leaving a gap of no less than 1/8 and no more than around the stamp.
