23.01.2022 2008. Angela Pfeffer was our Miss Personality entrant and raised over $9,000.00 with the help of family, Lions and the community. Grandfather Lion Bill Keeley presented her with her first incentive prize at a Lions meeting.

22.01.2022 10 Year's ago the LMRF Personality Quest was in full swing with regional finals taking place. This memory was from Bundaberg where Q4 semi finals were held on this day in 2010. Our own Deputy Chairman Kathy McCosker was a entrant that year from Rockhampton Fitzroy River Lions club inc. Raising $10000. Kathy rejoined as a entrant in 2011-12 raising another $8000. Kathy has now been a LMRF Director for nearly 3 years after also serving as district chairperson for the last 7 years. She also is Q4's 1st Vice District Governor 2020-21.

21.01.2022 Deputy chairman Kathy McCosker recently attended the combined Longreach Lions & Lioness changeover dinner where the Longreach Lions club donated $1000 to LMRF. We appreciate your kind gesture.

13.01.2022 Money raised through Dry July will fund our program for younger women with ovarian cancer. Amy Stewart is the face of our Dry July campaign and a member of the ...Younger Womens Network. Diagnosed at 33, Amy commented To access support that is both cancer-specific and age-appropriate has made such a difference for me. Being able to meet other young women going through the same thing as I am, has been so reassuring and comforting. Nothing else like this exists. Sadly, Amy passed away recently. Help honour Amy and ensure other young women can continue to access information and support by participating in Dry July and raising funds to keep our Younger Womens Network running. https://www.ovariancancer.net.au/news/32/amys-story

13.01.2022 The LMRF office will be working from home during the 3 day lockdown. The office can be contacted via email on [email protected]. Thank you.

10.01.2022 Thinking of donating to a worthwhile Charity before the end of the financial year, then please donate to Lions Medical Research Foundation which is a Deductible Gift Recipient Charity. Our Foundation has been in existence since 1966 and in that time we have provided funding for 47 Researchers. In 1985 we funded Professor Ian Fraser in his research into the Cervical Cancer Vaccine Gardasil, as well in 1986 we provided significant funding for Opthamologist Professor Lawrie Hirs...t which lead to the Queensland Eye Bank storing corneas prior to transplantation. Our current LMRF Fellows are researching Ovarian Cancer & Gestational Diabetes Something very unique with our Foundation is that we provide funding exclusively for early start up Bio Medical Students so as they can provide and establish a team to do their research and hopefully give hope to those suffering Please visit our website www.lionsmedicalresearchfoundation.org.au See more

03.01.2022 Gestational diabetes is now the fastest-growing type of diabetes in Australia. The number of women diagnosed with gestational diabetes has more than doubled ove...r the last 10 years alone. Stopping this trend is an important part of reducing the number of people who develop type 2 diabetes. Diabetes Australia, along with the Australian Diabetes Society, the Australian Diabetes Educators Association, and the Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society, recently developed a position statement outlining what needs to be done to help women lower their risk of developing gestational diabetes and to provide appropriate support if they develop the condition. Providing women with the support they need to stay healthy pre, during and post-pregnancy will help many women address lifestyle-related risk factors and reduce the number of women developing the condition. Read our position statement here: https://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/news/15785

03.01.2022 This is Diabetes Awareness Week with over 500,000 people suffering from type 2 Diabetes. Its time to get tested
