20.01.2022 ROUND 1 | The team commenced their 2020 season with a Grand Final rematch against last year's champions Strikers Powerchair Football Club last Saturday. Trialing a new square formation, with the goalkeeper playing high in midfield, Lions PFC showed good attacking spark, but were unable to crack a resolute Strikers' defence. Despite length of the court action, the match finished in a nil-all draw. Next up, Lions PFC tackled North Brisbane Jets, who were playing for the first t...ime with an entire team using Strikeforce powerchairs. The match again produced fluid movement, but a length-of-the-court strike from Jack Gillespie secured Jets a 1-0 win. Lions PFC return to action this Saturday, intent on further developing their new system and netting their first win of 2020. 16.01.2022 After a strong pre-season, we now head into the season proper with dreams of going one better and clinching a maiden Championship. The team welcomes #14 Luca De Bilde to the squad for the 2020 season - we look forward to seeing you grow in your debut season. Round 1 sees a grand final rematch against champions Strikers Powerchair Football Club, who have now won all 4 years of the QPFA League. Our second match will see us versus the North Brisbane Jets who will be strengthene...d by the addition of 2 new Strikerforce chairs for their players. The competition has truly become a level playing field and any team can win this year. Make sure you reserve a few Saturdays to come see us play at the YMCA Bowen Hills. Round 1 29th February. 03.01.2022 The team fought in another tough match today against one of the tournament's leaders Perth Glory. Although we pushed them hard a win still eluded us as we went down 3 - 1. Our final round game tomorrow will see us play our local rivals Brisbane City FC in what will sure to be a tight battle. #heartpridepassion #lionspfc

02.01.2022 2019 QPFA Season Finals - The season drew to a close on Saturday and, although the final result didn't fall the Lions' way, the team showed tremendous skill and effort to make the Grand Final in only its first season. The semi-final encounter saw Lions PFC take on Brisbane City Powerchair Football Club in an instant classic. City hit first, with a set-piece ricochet sneaking across the goal-line. However, the second half proved a different tale. Burley shifted to holding midf...ield and twice assisted Peters, catapulting the team to a 2-1 victory and a maiden grand final berth. Unfortunately, the pace of the first match proved too much, and Lions PFC slipped 3-0 down in the championship match, against a formidable Strikers Powerchair Football Club outfit. The team regrouped and never relented, but were unable to claw their way back into the match. Congratulations to Strikers on a mighty performance. Despite the agonizing loss, Lions PFC should be incredibly proud of the year's efforts. Superbly led by coach Scott Harry, the team grew in stature with every game, building chemistry that will have the side well placed for 2020. Congratulations to Zac Burley, Mark Warren, Thomas Byrne, and captain Tristram Peters, who was also awarded joint Season MVP alongside Strikers star Josh Merkas. Most importantly, thank you to our amazing supporters and our family and friends for your season-long cheer. Thanks to our sponsor, First2Care, and our parent club, Lions FC, who made us part of their family. It was a thrill and pleasure to represent the club, something we will be honoured to do once more in 2020.
