25.01.2022 Match underway at Tumby Town Oval V Ramblers. Old mate fielding at point is ready for a catch.
25.01.2022 With 4 changes to the side Lipson took on Colts at Mortlock park in the second game of the season. Winning the toss and batting first it was a somewhat calamitous start with Lipson slumping to 4/21 after 6 overs with all 4 wickets bowled! Jordan Telfer and Ben Pugsley were left to try a rescue mission but when Telfer pumped a leg side full toss to the fine leg fielder and was caught for 16 the mission was seemingly thwarted. Simeon Telfer joined Pugsley and they did manage t...o get to drinks without further loss and moved the score to a steady 60. Pugsley then holed out in the first over after drinks for 15 leaving Sim Telfer whose phlegmatic start provided the basis of the only innings of substance. He rode his luck with some chances and produced some fine shots as the batters at the other end could not get going but he was out for 38 and Lipson all out for 94 a disappointing effort in the fine conditions and good outfield. Lipson could not get the breakthrough bowling with 6 bowlers tried the Colts batters negotiated the efforts with ease. Lachlan Gale came on and finally got the breakthrough, then another wicket the very next ball. But it was to no avail with Colts chasing the runs with 2 down. Lachlan the only wicket taker with 2/2. Another week and another opportunity to get the season going. Hooray for Lipson
24.01.2022 The end of the season has hastened upon us. The last round of the year saw the game abandoned due to the extreme heat, which then meant last Saturday was the first final with the top two teams, Lipson and Rovers playing off at Ungarra. Rovers elected to bat and Lipson turned to young opening bowlers Jonah Fatchen and Will Stratford. With tight bowling the order of the day, Will set about his spell with his usual precision while Jonah grabbed an early breakthrough (1/12 from 5...Continue reading
24.01.2022 Big day for L.C.C with the launch of our new 20/20 snapbacks! Just in time for Christmas these limited edition caps will go quick. Whether you are a player past or present, junior or senior or maybe just a supporter these are available NOW so get your orders in! PM LCC to arrange purchase of these unique items, essential fashion for a big bash game or after out on the circuit with Lachlan and Chuck. Why Swamp Donkeys for our 20/20 team, you may ask. This is a reasonable ques...tion in which the answer is as interesting as the term itself. For years this term was used by children and adults from a neighbouring town in an attempt to degrade the fine denizens of Ungarra and surrounding districts. The term Swamp donkeys originated perhaps due to the semiaquatic saline surrounds of our oval but more likely a poor attempt to cover their own insecurities regarding the very much "swamp" like surrounds of their own town. History aside however this once ignoble and childish put down has now, with a light hearted turn of the tables been claimed as a symbol of pride, virtue and success! Next time the cry of "swamp donkey" rings out across the playground or sporting field it will rally generations, young and old to rise up against injustice and stand together as one for common decency! Yes all that in a hat! Only 20 bucks order NOW! Thanks to Matty G Georg for design help and formatting the logo and Tumby Bay Print for banging them out before Christmas!! 23.01.2022 Cricket is back! Although half the Lipson team seemed to have not realised the first game for the season saw cricket back at Ungarra against Rovers. The team sheet was one of old and new. Two sets of father/son combos took the field with Jonah and Anthony Fatchen teaming up again while Sean and William Turner made their A grade debuts. William at the tender age of nearly 13! Bowling first Lipson got going early after Jonah had a drop catch first over, Anthony Webb got the wic...ket in the second over before following up with another shortly after. While Rovers built a partnership it took a fine peice of fielding and direct hit run-out from Anthony Webb to gain some momentum back. Brenton Stratford put in another tight spell and grabbed a wicket courtesy of a great catch on the boundary by Sean Turner but then went one better himself pulling in a spectacular one hander off Henry Breens bowling. Jonah Fatchen grabbed 2 wickets in his second spell finishing with 2/41 while Breen grabbed 2/23 from his 10 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Webb with 3/32. Rovers total finished all out for 160 after William Turner took his first wicket to finish the innings. The run chase started well with opening pair Jordan Telfer and Anthony Webb reaching 51 before Webb was thrown under the bus by his batting partner being run-out for 16. He then holed out on the boundary leaving the score 2/51. Simeon Telfer then Jim Snodgrass put on small partnerships with Sam Telfer before Sam took to the bowling. He got to 38 before being run-out in odd circumstances. This left Jonah Fatchen to steer home the innings and with youngster Turner they put on 35 runs before a late collapse saw Lipson fall 12 runs short. Jonah Fatchen making 29. President Startford and secretary Sam Telfer then jumped on the BBQ cooking Lamb burgers for the expectant crowd. Hooray for Lipson See more
23.01.2022 The Christmas game was indeed interesting this week, with more fill ins than a foot long meatball sub! Talented youngsters Brodie Stratford and Ethan Pugsley joined the team from the juniors. Ethan becoming part of another father/son combination along with his champion Dad Ben, to have played for Lipson. With players missing for various reasons Jack "the entertainer" Bunder and Aiden "28 days" Martin also helped out for the day. Aiden opened the bowling along with speedster C...hris Bawden and they brought some heat and aggression although perhaps sometimes accidentally. It was a run out that started the wickets however with Lachy Gales fine throw kicking things off. After some tight bowling it was Jim Snodgrass that once again proved the partnership breaker as he grabbed two wickets in his first over and finished with 2/25. Jonah Fatchen was pick of the bowlers all day and produced ball of the day to snagged a good caught behind. The story of the day was Brodie Stratford with his first A grade bowling spell grabbing 2/9 from his 4 overs, figures reminiscent of another B.Stratford. Ross Kearsley only took two balls to finish the innings and Colts were all out 113. Another game another lowish total run chase. Ross Keasley and Jordan Telfer started the chase in a controlled manner with Ross looking very solid before chipping a full bunger to mid wicket for a handy 28. This brought Jack Bunder to the crease who had been frothing over the short boundaries at Ungarra and declared that the roof of the complex was in danger. He attempted from ball one to land a ball on it and after some lusty blows was caught for 13 on the cover boundary attempting to land a cut shot on the tennis courts! Lachy Gale completed the run chase for the second week in a row with 2 sixes in his 15*. At the other end Captain Jordan Telfer, with one of the most self indulgent displays ever seen batted through the innings making 51* denying those he had begged to play a bat for the second time in 3 weeks. So much for "come and have a hit"and "it will be fun" he says! The total was reached in the 23rd over. With a 4.30 finish, for some "Lachy and Bunder" the talked turned to the circuit while most others scurried away to the headers and trucks as the moisture finally had came down. Hooray for Lipson Chief political editor Father Zosimov
23.01.2022 A quick update from last weekends game. Lipson climbed back aboard the winning horse with a comfy 70 run win at Mortlock park against Colts. Lipson were back to a vintage opening pair with Ben Pugsley promoted to opener in lieu of injuries and unavailability of some of our regulars. He fell for a solid 12 which brought Nic Gale and Jordan Telfer together for a 85 run partnership with the score at 111 at drinks. Wickets tumbled however when play resumed with Nic out for a we...ll made 46 and no one else able to get going. Jordan Telfer fell for 78 and the big score of earlier was slipping away. Late scores from Henry Breen (12) and Simeon Telfer (6*) who was back in the team after a lengthy hiatus boosted the total to 200. Jonah Fatchen struck in his first over and continued his good run of form grabbing 2 top order wickets and bowling a great opening spell and finished with 2/25. Lipson continued to get wickets with Henry Breen very tight from a solid 7 over spell and grabbed a valuable wicket as well to a one hander catch down the leg side to the keeper. Lachy Gale took two in his first over but Colts middle order proved difficult to remove. Ben Pugsley was finally rewarded with 2 wickets and nic Gale cleaned up the tail with some turn and grip in the hot conditions finishing with 3. Colts all out for 123. With a few regulars out it was the opportunity for 3 sets of brothers to play in the team. Whilst not the first time and probably not the last its a notable mention and interesting photo. Hooray for Lipson!! ( Brothers.left to right. Simeon Telfer, Jordan Telfer, Lachlan Gale, Nicolas Gale, Isaac Telfer, Sam Telfer)
21.01.2022 Time now for an update from L.C.C AGM last week. After an 19 year apprenticeship as vice-president Mr Brenton Stratford has moved into the role as club president. Already a life member and champion player, we look forward to Brentons enthusiasm and hard work ethic paying dividends in the near future. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Reece Gale for his tenure as president. No doubt the highlight of his stint was the whiting and chips night kindly organi...sed by Reece and Catherine, we never did see the promised crayfish but thanks for your service Reece. Mr Sam Telfer will continue his fine work behind the scenes as secretary/treasurer while Jordan Telfer and Nicholas Gale will be Captain and vice. Thanks to all those people who have put their hands up for positions. Lots more coming soon to the Facebook page including some exciting merchandise. Hooray for Lipson See more
20.01.2022 It was a thrilling finish to the minor round on Saturday as Lipson played its last game against Ramblers at Ungarra for the year. In the build up to finals it was a week of mental perturbation for the captain and selectors with some of the semi regular players unavailable, leaving the side slightly unsettled, but also giving 3 of the most promising junior players an opportunity in the senior side. Losing the toss it was another game sent into the field and after a 97 run ope...ning partnership it was looking like a long day in the field for Lipson. It was Anthony Webb who got the initial breakthrough with a sharp catch down the leg side. Jim Snodgrass and Ben Pugsley then gained some control back for Lipson both claiming 2 wickets. Anthony Webb grabbed one more before the youngsters Corey Calderwood and Brody Stratford took their opportunites with Corey taking his first A grade wicket and Brody 2 wickets in 3 balls as well as another chance put down. Ramblers were dismissed for 179. Makeshift opener Sim Telfer joined brother Jordan in the run chase and after chipping away steadily but slowly after some tight bowling. Both the openers were dismissed as well as NIC Gale in quick succession with Lipson under pressure at 3/34 after 18 overs. This left Lachlan Gale and Anthony Webb to start the recovery which they did with great control. Webb then took the upper hand send 4 towering 6s over the boundary he fell chasing a wide one for a well made 47 and giving Lipson some hope. Ben Pugsley joined Gale and they continued building but when Gale chopped on for 28 the game seemed it be slipping away from Lipson. With Ben Pugsley the key he played somee vintage shots and ran hard between the wickets with valuable partnerships with Sam Telfer and Corey Calderwood. With Pugsley controlling the innings and needing 8 runs when joined by the last batter Brody Stratford, Lipson got within 3 runs of the required total with an over remaining. This was as close as they got however as Brody couldnt keep out a Yorker and hand Ramblers a exciting win and a place in the finals as the results in the other game had gone their way. So its into finals against Rovers next week. Hooray for Lipson See more
19.01.2022 Its Finals time for both our Junior and Senior Teams today at the Ungarra Oval and it would be wonderful to see as many supporters as possible at the game to cheer on both teams. 16.01.2022 LIPSON A GRADE PREMIERS!!! Lipson 126 defeated Rovers 105
16.01.2022 A quick recap from last weekends game. A comfortable 9 wicket win saw Lipson make it 3 in a row. Bowling first against Ramblers, Lipson started with a team yoga and "earthing" session led by Chris Bawden and the new age approach worked for the young quick bowler, grabbing a wicket in his first over. Anthony Webb backed him up beating the bat on many occasions and was rewarded with a wicket from a perfect yorker. Chris Bawden snagged another and Ramblers were in trouble when ...Sim Telfer also took 2 wickets with his outswingers getting edges to the slips, with Giles Kearsley gobbling up 2 catches. Ramblers put on a middle order partnership but it was broken by Nic Gale while Ben Pugsley did the Kleenex job and clean up the tail. Ramblers all out for 130. Pugsley finished with 3/15, Sim Telfer was economical with 2/8 from 5 overs, while Chris Bawden 2/20 and Anthony Webb 1/15 from 10 overs set the game up. The run chase started in bizarre fashion as Ross Kearsley was out handling the ball in a momentary brain fade. Needing a partnership to avoid the close low run chase of the previous match, Lachlan Gale strode to the crease and assume control of the innings. He punished anything on his pads, with 4 huge 6s over mid-wicket. The in form Gale helped Lipson cruise to victory as opening batter Jordan Telfer took a back seat. They put on their second 100+ run partnership for the year with Gale posting his 3rd half century for the year with 80* and Telfer made 42*. Next week Rovers. Hooray for Lipson
16.01.2022 Premiership Celebrations continue for the Lipson Cricket Club for both Juniors and A Grade. The seasons trophy winners were recognised and celebrated, with the Premiership song being performed with much gusto by Fizza.
16.01.2022 Lipson have declared, declared the Ungarra Community Cafe fundraiser a raging success. Thanks to Ben Pugsley, Jonah Fatchen, Jim Snodgrass, Sam Telfer, Anthony Fatchen, Isaac Telfer and Jordan Telfer for helping on the day and Karla Telfer, Kathy Brand and Brooke Startford for the cakes and muffins. It was a busy time and $500 was raised with the biggest hooray going to Miriam and Eden from the Cafe for the help and making sure we didnt stuff anything up. It was great to get support from the community and especially former player Mr Ben Beard who generously purchased 4 or 5 wraps . A good start to the season for Lipson cc with the pressure of the kitchen providing team building skills and bonding experience. Working bee this Wednesday to set up nets a have a hit. Hooray for Lipson!
15.01.2022 This is a 2 week update as the holiday season is upon us and who can be bozd reading or writing cricket match reports?! So its back to the dot points. * Beat Rovers @ Mortlock 2 weeks ago by 9 wickets * Best bowling Ben Pugsley 3/12 * 3 run outs in a good fielding performance... *Ross Kearsley and Jordan Telfer put on 52 run opening partnership * Lachlan Gale and Jordan Telfer chased the 138, Telfer 77* Gale 28* * Giles Kearsley was frothing at the mouth to bat after sitting padded up for the second week in a row, it may also have been the day old footlong sub he pulled from his cricket bag for lunch that had him foaming! Then this last week saw another win this time against Colts * Tom and Jono Forrest team up for their first game together at L.C.C. * Tight bowling saw Colts dismissed for 115. * Anthony Webb 1/9 from 9.3 overs. Chris Bawden with a career best 4/16 from 9 overs . While Ross Kearsley also grabbed 3/24 from 9. * The run chase had a shaky start before Anthony Webb 40* combined with Jordan Telfer 55* to put on a 90 run partnership that took Lipson to victory 3 wickets down. Hooray for Lipson

15.01.2022 Lipson finally got over the line for the first win of the season against Rovers at the town oval. Isaac Telfer became the 19th player to play in the first 4 games with Nic Gale still missing after his superman catch attempt a few weeks ago. Batting first an early wicket saw last weeks premier run getter Lachlan Gale, heading out to the middle. He once again struck the ball supremely and put on a hundred run partnership with Jordan Telfer who was batting very steadily. Telfer w...as out for 37 while Lachlan went on to his second half century in a row falling for 74. It was a innings of power and timing especially after he tweaked an injury from a heavy leg session at the gym and provided a basis for Ben Pugsley to push the tempo and along with the middle order the score was 186 at the end of the overs. With a stiff breeze to bowl with and against the challenge was there for a slightly undermanned bowling attack, however it was a good run-out by Anthony Webb that brought the first wicket. But it was the bowling partnership of Ben Pugsley bowling Noodlers with the wind and Henry Breen swinging it into it that eventually won the game for Lipson. Henry, who was back after 2 weeks off doing other stuff finished with the remarkable figures of 3/17 from ten straight overs, with 6 of the runs being wides. Ben Pugsley got 3 important wickets himself, while Jim Snodgrass, feeling fresh after 5 hours sleep this week bowled well grabbing 2 wickets. Lipson won by about 30 runs hooray for Lipson
14.01.2022 The first game of the new year saw another win notched against Rovers, albeit a hard fought one. After losing the toss yet again Lipson headed into the field and things started exceptionally well with Chris Bawden catching an edge first ball. The Christmas pudding was obviously still digesting for some however as a rusty and at times lackluster effort in the field saw Rovers build a solid start. Chris Bawden was again involved to break the partnership this time with a runout.... While Ross Kearsley tweaked some economical spinners and Brenton Stratford was also very miserly the wickets were hard to get. Ben Pugsley eventually broke through with 2/47 from his 10overs. Another runout this time to Jonah Fatchen and some more runs to rovers saw a solid target of 210 set helped by a unusually high number of extras and some spilt chances, one of which provided the highlight of the fielding effort as Ross Kearsley flew horizontal through the air to grab an unbelievable outfield catch only to have it pop out as he hit the deck. 210 was a larger run chase then Lipson had previously managed, however the plan was the same with a steady start against some tight bowling. The first wicket fell with 44 on the board, Ross Kearsley got a faint nick and proceeded to walk making him a good bloke and with his solid, good looking 14 this ticks all the criteria for a possible call up for Australia duties. Lachy Gale and Jordan Telfer put a valuable partnership together with Lachy upping the run rate before stepping on his stumps for 52. The first half century for a man who deals exclusively in 100s! Needing a run a ball for the last ten overs Anthony Webb (12) and Sam Telfer (7) added quick runs but it was left to Jim Snodgrass and Jordan Telfer to negotiate the final chase. With a stiff southeasterly blowing they picked the 46th over to do the damage taking 18 off the over and with some quick singles and twos achieved the total with 16 balls to spare. Jim finished on 6 while Jordan was unbeaten on 92*. Hooray for Lipson! Association games now for 2 weeks. Then its 20/20. Written by Foreign correspondent Dr Helmut Schmelding
14.01.2022 As the cricket season heads towards its natural conclusion, the senior side has joined the juniors in reaching the grand final this Saturday. Lipson taking out a tense game against 5 in a row premiers Ramblers. No surprises that the team once again had multiple changes, with Brody Stratford and Ethan Pugsley coming in for the crucial preliminary final as the busy March wedding season took its toll at the selection table. Batting first Ben Pugsley was thrown up the order but a...fter a solid start both him and Jordan Telfer were dismissed each for 11, bringing the Kearsley brothers together. They set about building a score with Giles the more aggressive however the lush outfield saw his explosive drives restricted to only singles. After a valuable partnership Giles was out for 19 and Ross added more to his total before finally he was dismissed for 35 the highest score of the day. Some lower order swinging from Chris Bawden and Jonah Fatchen along with sundries saw a slightly below total of 136 posted after 50 overs. With a small total to defend Lipson needed early wickets and Anthony Webb delivered with a lbw Yorker for his first ball. He followed up with another a couple of overs later and in an stunning opening spell of 7 overs produced 2/4. Jonah Fatchen bowled well and got a wicket of his own as well as creating another catch opportunity that looked as if it may hurt Lipson. With the game in the balance at drinks the first over after the break saw Ben Pugsley claim 2 wickets with an outstanding boundary catch by Sim Telfer followed by another sharp chance taken by Ethan Pugsley. Catches win matches and Brody Stratford hung onto a flushed pull shot at mid wicket that saw the momentum swing back to Lipson. Ross Kearsleys 3 maidens after drinks built pressure and he followed it up with 2 wickets as well. Webb and Fatchen came back on and finished the job with Fatchen bowling the last 2 batters to finish with 3 and Webb bowling 3 more maidens with his figures amazingly remaining on 2/4 from 10 overs. An all round team effort saw Lipson progress to the grand final against Rovers next Saturday. See you all there for the juniors in the morning then A grade in the afternoon, what better way to spend the day. Hooray for Lipson See more
13.01.2022 Gday all, the saying "no news is good news" is in this occasion not applicable. The season has concluded with the unfortunate demise of both teams in the grand final. 08.01.2022 HOORAY FOR LIPSON!!!
07.01.2022 Cricket was back at the "Garra", and Lipson are back in the winners with a comprehensive victory by 9 wickets against Colts last Saturday. Using the new pitches for the first time this year they looked lush and green and with Lipson losing the toss and bowling the opening bowlers were licking their respective lips. Jonah Fatchen and Jono Forrest set to work and combined in a opening spell that restricted any scoring and quickly yielded wickets. Some good catching at slip by S...am Telfer started a good day in the field with Ethan Pugsley getting a fine run-out and Brody Stratford a good catch. It was the bowlers day however with Fatchen the main destroyer finishing with 5/21 from 10 overs in a brilliant display of swing bowling which handed him his first A grade 5 wicket hual. Jono Forrest was great backup with 2/21 and Henry Breen and Jim Snodgrass took one each. Colts were all out for 61. Lachlan Gale and Ross Kearsley were sent out to bring home the bacon but Lachlan skied a short ball in the second over bringing the regular opening pair of Kearsley and Jordan Telfer together. They chased the modest total down with relative ease passing the score in the 14th over. Kearsley unbeaten on 23* with Telfer making 32*. Thanks to Sam Telfer for organising and modifying the pitches and Anthony Fatchen for picking them up. Last game next week v Ramblers at Ungarra and we are expecting a big crowd. Hooray for Lipson See more
07.01.2022 Time for a quick recap or the last month of cricket, its been awhile between post so hold on! The annual T20 competition commenced in mid January with lipson winning its first 2 games, posting solid totals of 8/135 against Ramblers and 4/150 in the second game against Rovers. On both matches it proved enough with close wins and some good all round efforts notably Lachy Gales 51 in the first game and Ross Kearsleys 44 in the second. Lachy was also good with the ball in both g...ames and Henry Breen picked up 2/18 against Rovers. This set up a final game scenario of a win would see overall victory and a loss meaning 3 teams finishing on 2 wins and the result coming down to percentage. Sent in to bat lipson were well set at no wicket for 95 after 10 overs, then the opening pair of Jordan Telfer 53 and Ross Kearsley 38 fell and the momentum stalled with the final total 145. This proved not enough with colts chasing the total down with an over to spare. Lipson left the door open and were one wicket short on percentage in the end results finishing 2nd. This week saw a return to 50 over cricket, hosting Ramblers at Ungarra. Batting first the opening pair took the score to 42 but Jordan Telfer fell for 21 and Ross Kearsley for 19, Nic Gale found himself watching the middle order fold around him and 4 ducks come and go. It was left to Jim Snodgrass to provide some limpet-like resistance allowing Nic to try and reboot the run scoring. When Jim (6) and Richard Norris (3) both fell followed by top scorer Nic (32). This left Ethan Pugsley on the eve of his 13th birthday and batting in his first A grade innings to show the much older middle order how it is done. He made 14 more than his Dad giving him household bragging rights and a highlight in an overall poor batting display. Lipson bowled out for 110. It never really looked like enough but Jonah Fatchen bowled a great opening spell producing 2/21 and he should have had more but some missed chances went begging. Ben Pugsley also took 2 wickets but Ramblers chased the total with ease. Onto next week with 2 games remaining its off to Mortlock park to take on Colts. Hooray for Lipson

04.01.2022 After a few weeks off for harvest breaks a cool wet Friday meant the headers pulled up and a opportunity for a game against Colts at Ungarra. Colts elected to bat and Chris Bawden returning to the team took the new ball. He bowed with good pace and bounce and created some opportunities but it took a flying catch from Anthony Webb at point to get the first wicket. Jonah Fatchen kept the good work going in the field with a sharp runout. Colts kept the run rate ticking over bef...ore the slow bowling of Ben Pugsley and Nic Gale who is back from injury put the handbrake on and the wickets followed. The fielding was at top notch all day with Ross Kearsley also back for his first game pulling in a one hander in the air over the boundary throwing the ball back into play and saving 5 runs. Not to be out down brother Giles Kearsley making his debut for Lipson held a sharp chance at slip off Pugsley. With Nic Gale ended up with 2/7 from 7 overs while Ben Pugsley returned career best figures of 5/19 from his 10 overs. Colts making 107. The run chase started in calamitous style with both openers out and the score at 2/3 after the first 3 overs. Things only got worse with Lipson soon stumbling to 5/29 with Lachlan Gale the only batter to make a dint in the modest total making 18. Ben Pugsley put out the anchor and in scenes reminiscent of "The batting wizard from the city" (Google it) the captain ask the new player Giles Kearsley " can you bat?" And he said "yeah a little". Giles the proceeded to get his eye in and then take control of the game for Lipson with some of the most crisp hitting seen for many days at Ungarra oval. After depositing some enormous sixes straight down the ground and one over cover Lipson were within 8 runs of victory but the game took another turn. Ben Pugsley fell for 24 and then Lipson lost 4 wickets without adding any runs to the total and with a fantastic catch at short cover the only way of stopping the rampaging Kearsley out for 43. Within the blink of an eye Lipson were now in a perilous position. Youngster Ethan Pugsley had promoted himself to 9 and joined by Jim Snodgrass they needed 8 to win. The large crowd were watching on the edge of their seats as both players executed some reverse drives chipping away at the total before Ethan Pugsley fulfilled his boyhood dream (the dream being the night before because he is still in boyhood) and hit the winning runs to give Lipson an unlikely victory. Ethan finished on 5 while Jim Snodgrass made an invaluable 2. Man of the match was a difficult decision with Ben Pugsleys all round game hard to beat, however Giles Kearsleys 43 game changing runs and his abstract and sometimes obscure banter in the slips made him fit right in. Man of the match though went to Ethan Pugsley for his unbounded confidence and cool head under pressure to steer the ship home! Hooray for Lipson..... In a Lipson cc Facebook first we have exclusive footage of Giles Kearsley batting with expert commentary included
03.01.2022 Update for the last month! There has been heaps of cricket going on with 20/20 and association cricket as well as a return to 50 over games last Saturday. After a win in the first mid-week 20/20 against Ramblers the next 2 games resulted in narrow losses. With the holiday period resulting in some in and outs as well as some players getting right into holiday mode, forgetting that there was even a game on. This gave Riley Pugsley his A grade 20/20 debut after hanging around ho...ping someone doesnt rock up all year it finally happened. In a sign of the new generation he started his batting career with an inside out lap sweep over the slips! Back into the regular season last week and this saw Lipson go down to Rovers after they posted a healthy 195 at the town oval. Lipson fell 35 runs short in the run chase. With 2 games left before finals the ladder is tightening up. No cricket this Saturday and then its Colts at Ungarra with full match report photos and videos to make up for the lack in the last month. 01.01.2022 After an extended break for harvest and a wash out against Rovers, cricket finally made a return this week against Ramblers. The inclement weather that has thwarted harvest also had the Lipson players digging out there wooly whites and wishing they also had a bespoke, year 9 home economics, polar fleece vest like that made famous by Chris Dunn. Losing the toss saw Lipson take to the field in good bowling conditions with Henry Breens left arm inswing dangerous from ball one.... Brenton Stratford settled into a good rhythm after taking a older person "fall" first over on the greasy pitch. They built the pressure with Henry the pick of the bowlers grabbing 3/19 from 9 overs and Brenton 1/11 from 7. Ben Pugsley kept the wickets coming with 3/17 with one each to the Gale Bros. The team effort fielding was a highlight with Brenton Stratford holding onto 2 rockets at short fine leg while Jonah Fatchen produced a run out from no where with a pin point long bomb from the boundary. Chris Bawden and Ross Kearsley held onto good outfield catches and Ramblers were all out for 101 after 35 overs. It was a measured start to the run chase, with Will Stratford missing at the top of the order it was Ross Kearsley resplendent in his "creams" who looked like an opening batsman thus qualifying him to open, although he had never played on synthetic. With the score in the twenties both openers departed which brought the Gale Bros together. They confidently and competently progressed the score along. While Nic regularly found the middle of the bat he didnt always find the gaps and Lachy overtook him in the runs. However it was just the controlled partnership that the team needed with the Bros cruising Lipson to victory with 8 wickets and 11 overs to spare. Nic remained unbeaten on 31* while Lachlan complied a fine 45*. It was great to sneak a game in with the busy times, while next weeks Christmas round against colts will no doubt be interesting. Hooray for Lipson By guest contributor Buford Tannen
