16.01.2022 NEUROVASCULAR HOLDING POINTS AND ENERGY SWITCHES - How to naturally relieve stress (The Kinesiology Institute) DISCOVERY Neurovascular points were discovered in... the 1930’s by Terrance Bennett, DC. These reflexes are primarily on the head and are neurological switches which activate blood flow to the muscles and related organs and glands. Bennett injected radioactive dye into people while holding various points on their head. He would then look through a fluoroscope, similar to an x-ray machine, to see which areas of the body the blood flowed to. He noticed that touching different areas encouraged blood flow to different places. Some points made more blood flow to the stomach, others to the pelvic region and some to the liver. He mapped out all of the neurovascular points through his research. DEVELOPMENT These reflexes have a neurological influence on the blood circulation that starts developing in the embryo and finishes fully at birth. The first three to four weeks after conception, the fetus has no heart. The mother’s placental circulation is supplemented by a network of fetal vascular circuits which these neurovascular points trigger. As the tissues grow, the circuits exert slight traction on the blood vessels. This causes the muscles within the vessels to pulsate and aid the mother’s placental circulation. At about the third month, the heart forms and takes over the burden of supplying blood to the growing fetus. The neurovascular circuits that developed in the fetus continue to have an influence on the circulation of blood. HOW TO STIMULATE THESE POINTS To stimulate the neurovascular holding points, touch them lightly with the pads of your fingers and slightly tug up on the skin. You may notice a slight pulse, which is from the capillary beds. Hold the points until you feel the pulses synchronize. If you don’t feel a pulse, just continue holding them for 20 to 30 seconds. Doing this procedure will improve the blood circulation to the related organ. THE NEUROVASCULAR HOLDING POINTS AND ORGAN ASSOCIATIONS Occipital Protuberance (back of head) Kidneys Posterior Fontanelle Adrenals Two fingers width above Posterior Fontanelle Spleen Anterior Fontanelle (top of head) Lung, Heart and Brain Glabella (inside of eyebrows) Bladder Ramus of jaw (level of the mouth) Sinuses Lateral to the eye sockets (between the eyebrows and the ears) Eyes and ears Zygomatic arch (near the top of the ears) Thyroid Just above the temporal bone above the ears Pancreas and Spleen Parietal eminences (on the side of the head about 4 fingers width above the ear) Small & Large Intestines, Reproductive Organs Frontal eminences on the forehead Brain, Stomach, Bladder Hairline above and out from point Liver Lambdoidal suture (behind ears) Reproductive Organs Behind the knees Gall Bladder Sternal notch on the throat Thyroid WHY USE THIS METHOD Neurovascular points get switched off when the body is under stress. This can be a combination of physical, emotional, biochemical and environmental stress, which includes air pollution and electromagnetic fields. All these stressors can add up to cause one or more of these switches to shut off, similar to how a circuit breaker would. By applying light pressure to the neurovascular points, you can switch them back on. This activates blood flow to the associated organ, along with muscles that are paired with each organ. This muscle association was discovered by Dr. George Goodheart, DC and will be discussed in a future blog. Doing this simple procedure can eliminate pain and stress, giving you greater health and relaxation.

07.01.2022 The Relaxation Response is a helpful way to turn off the fight-or-flight response and bring the body back to pre-stress levels. Dr. Benson describes the Relaxat...ion Response as a physical state of deep relaxation which engages the other part of our nervous systemthe parasympathetic nervous system. Research has shown that regular use of the Relaxation Response can help any health problem that is caused or exacerbated by chronic stress such as fibromyalgia, gastrointestinal ailments, insomnia, hypertension, anxiety disorders, and others.
